Growth, Change, Dedication
Written by Richard Wyckoff, CEO
We are now half way through the year and have a lot to be proud of. Our
business growth is strong, with many new clients coming on board. In
addition, our focus on service quality has enabled us to retain and expand
many of our existing relationships as well. As we know, growth comes in three
buckets -- retention, base business expansion, and new client sales. The
combination of achieving results in each of these three elements is essential
to our current and future success.

Growth equals value. As our company grows, we create more opportunities
for our associates to gain new skills, expand responsibilities and build career
success. This expansion has enabled us to hire and promote many
associates and to recognize those who are continuing to make the greatest
contribution to our company’s success. Overall, in the past 12 months we
have awarded over 8,000 associates with recognition for their dedication,
loyalty and positive impact! That's really great news and will only accelerate
as we go forward.
These are exciting times for our industry and our company. The types of
threats continue to change with, for example, cyber attacks and now drones
becoming an increasingly great risk to our clients. As these and other
technologies emerge, the nature of how we respond and ultimately "predict
and prevent" must also change.
We are committed to providing the best client satisfaction in our industry, and
to being the service provider of choice for our associates. To this end, we are
making investments in innovation technology which will enable our officers to
provide a higher level of insight and responsiveness to mitigate client risks. In
addition, we are developing new training programs which will provide the skills
and recognition for satisfying our clients’ needs. Expect to see these programs
roll out towards the end of this year.
Thank you for your dedication and for your accomplishments in service to our
clients. It is because of your results that we are a leader in our industry.
Solving client needs, and doing it right and consistently, is what we are all
about.
The accomplishments of those in this issue of The Post are significant and
noteworthy. Again, thank you for all you do to enable our success. Have a
great summer!

reacted quickly, contacting the Las Vegas Metro
Police. Due to their fast actions, the police were

property.
Director Kevin Klevins and the Las Vegas Metro
Police appreciate the Las Vegas Premium
Outlets North team’s vigilance.
Satnam “Sam” Bhullar Secures 100% Score in Security Audit
Branch 152, Lebec, California
Satnam “Sam” Bhullar, Post Commander at IKEA Distribution Center, is awarded a Meritorious Award
for his dedication to creating a safe environment. The biggest moment that brought attention to
Officer Bhullar’s efforts was when the Ikea Distribution Center received a 100% in its Annual Security
Check - the first time any distribution location within Ikea has ever received such a score.
Post Commander Bhullar’s commitment has led him to become a valued and respected team leader,
both by his team and by the client. He conducts daily inspections and assists in daily audits of the
premises. He also observes and reports unsafe acts to the client and assists in special security
projects. The client considers him an asset to the company.

Officer Dan Day Catches Thief
Branch 52, San Marcos, Texas
After receiving a description of a suspect
thought to have stolen from a cosmetics store
under USA protection, Security Officer Dan Day
kept his eyes open. When he spotted the thief,
he kept watch from the time the store contacted
the local police until they arrived. The police
stopped the suspect after she had returned to
her car, where an interesting surprise awaited
everyone. Not only did Officer Day prevent the
thief from stealing $250 from USA’s client, but
he also prevented her from getting away with
almost $3,000 in merchandise from other stores
in the area. USA and Security Director Carlos
Valentin join the client in thanking Officer Day for
his vigilance.
Supervisor Josue Arana Receives

Officer Cody Grell Finds and
Returns Missing Money
Branch 32, Kokoma, Indiana
During his rounds, Officer Cody Grell located a
woman’s wallet in the parking lot. He checked
for I.D. and contacted the owner. When she
arrived to pick up the wallet, she was very
pleased to discover that her money was still
inside—all $1000 of it. The following day, her
husband Steve Stewart, a prominent attorney in
Kokomo, called and spoke with Supervisor
Gerald George to compliment Officer Grell.
Director Mark Earhart, the entire Kokoma
branch, and Attorney Steve Stewart are
impressed with Officer Grell’s honesty and
integrity.
Security Directors Receive
Special Certification
Branch 150, Corona, California
Branch 69 and 70, Hurst, Texas and
Grapevine, Texas
Security Supervisor Josue Arana receives a
Meritorious Service Certificate for the kind of
quick thinking and sense of urgency that saves
lives. A car fire blazed to life in the parking lot
during an otherwise average patrol, but thanks
to Security Officer Arana’s immediate action—
grabbing the fire extinguisher and dousing the
fire himself—the fire was put out before the fire
truck arrived, leaving no injuries and no
additional damage.
North East Mall Area Security Director Jeff
Gomez and Grapevine Mills Security Director
Josh Harmon received certification as Fusion
Liaison Officers on April 28-29. This increased
liaison has already proven helpful to our
increased security efforts associated with the
shooting in Garland, Texas. Regional Director
Mike McKinney and the entire Hurst and
Grapevine branches commend the dedication of
these Security Directors to the job.
Account Manager Adam Roque and the client
thank Security Officer Arana for his heroic efforts
to keep others safe.
Tour Supervisor Theresa
Blumenthal Receives Award
Gurnee Security Team Earns
Respect From Gurnee Police
Branch 396, New York City, NY
Branch 19, Orland Park, Illinois
Tour Supervisor Theresa Blumenthal receives a
Distinguished Service Award due to her heroic
efforts during an emergency situation. She
responded in a timely manner to a Goldman
Sachs employee in medical distress and
performed CPR until EMS arrived and took
control.
The Gurnee Mills security team assisted the
Gurnee Police in a crisis situation. Sbarro’s
General Manager Frank Wordin became
unresponsive after sweating heavily and
clutching his chest, saying he’d had a recent
heart attack.
Account Manager Wayne Teagarden and the
entire New York City team appreciate
Supervisor Blumenthal’s collected demeanor.
Several members of the Gurnee Mills security
team took immediate action. Sergeant Alex
Arroyo helped lay Wordin on the floor while he
was still unable to communicate. Sergeant
Arroyo then placed AED pads on Wordin’s
chest, but the AED process told him not to
shock. Meanwhile, Assistant Officer James
Agee also helped while Assistant Director Nate
Koehn maintained communication with Gurnee
Dispatch, and Officer Michael McClory assisted
where needed until Wordin was transported to
the hospital, where the event was determined to
be non-cardiac related but still needed
treatment.
The Gurnee Police are impressed by the Gurnee
Mills
team’s
coordination,
cooperation,
professionalism, and lack of hesitation in their
involvement. Security Director Dennis Pratl and
the Gurnee Police thank Sergeant Arroyo,
Assistant Director Koehn, Officer McClory, and

quick acceptance and perfect execution of an assignment, along with their continuous efficiency in all
their work.
Both officers were called upon with less than two hours notice to accept an assignment in which they
would escort a tractor trailer from Washington, D.C. to Dallas, Texas. They maintained visual security
of the sealed trailer the entire drive and ensured the safety of all devices throughout the trip. The
convoy had absolutely no issues during the assignment, thanks to Officers Rhodes and Taylor.
“Security Officers Krista Rhodes and Darlene Taylor should stand as an example of dedication to this
company and its clients,” says Operations Manager Matt Prazenica. “They have been with U.S.
Security Associates for almost two years and have excelled at every assignment they have been
given… I thank them both for their commitment to make sure a job is well done.”
USA and the Western Maryland team join Prazenica in applauding these officers.

helping in an emergency situation. A diabetic
civilian suffered a blackout when her blood
sugar dropped, but Officer Newbill remained
calm as he retrieved a soda for the diabetic
woman. She notes that he “asked if I wanted
him to call EMS . . . [and later] talked to me and
tested my handshake as I began to feel better.”
Once the episode was over, Officer Newbill
stayed around to help put the civilian’s shopping
bags into the car. USA and District Manager
Michael Faircloth are proud to recognize Officer
Newbill for his service.

Officer Robert Wadsworth
Awarded for Performance
Branch 556, Newcastle, Delaware
Officer Robert “Bob” Wadsworth receives the
Quality Officer of the Quarter Award for
continued excellence in his job. He continuously
places the interest of the company over his own
personal interests, often taking on extra hours
and volunteering for extra assignments. He even
volunteered for a special, multi-day assignment
to perform a highly sensitive special detail at a
residential property in Newtown Square, PA.
Not only does Officer Wadsworth excel in his
own job, but he also encourages and inspires
his fellow officers to acquire the same skills,
attitudes, and knowledge of their posts that he
has. His strong work ethic and leadership
qualities make him a valued member of the
Newcastle branch and of USA as a whole.
Supervisor Lis Myers, Branch Manager Joe
Jarvis, and the entire Newcastle team
congratulate Officer Wadsworth on his stellar
work.

Service
Branch 418, Tinley Park, Illinois
Captain Bernard Stephenes, Lieutenant Donald Richard, and their team of 10 officers are recognized
by Thornton Township High School for providing professional service for the Jefferson Awards
Ceremony held at the high school. Jerry B. Doss, District Administrator of Thornton Township High
School, commented that, “the team was on time, implemented a comprehensive security plan that
ensured safety and security, but did not intrude on the overall decorum of the event.”
Some attendees commented that the high school must have hired the Secret Service, while others
believed the governor of Illinois would make an appearance based on how poised and professional
the security detail was.
Gregory K. Falkman, Branch Manager, and the client thank Captain Stephenes, Lieutenant Richard,
and their team for their commendable service.

Director Aaron Theriault
Appreciated for His Efforts

Cottonwood Mall. The exercise tested the
Rescue Response Task Force, which is
comprised of both the Bernalillo County Sheriff
Department staff and the Bernalillo County Fire
Department (including fire fighters, emergency
medical technicians, and paramedics). The
event was a success with each response unit
experiencing their role and response tactics for
an active shooter incident.
Thanks to Director Theriault and his team, the
Rescue Response Task Force is now prepared
to handle an Active Shooter situation. Regional
Director Mike McKinney and the Rescue
Response Task Force thank all these officers for
their hard work and willingness to help.
Branch 159, Grand Prairie, Texas
Director Cesar Hernandez and the Grand Prairie
Police come together to thank the Grand Prairie

Security Director Thomas
McKenzie Halts Inventory Loss
Branch 176, Edina, Minnesota
Security Director Thomas McKenzie aided the
manager of a local Buckle location in designing
strategies to prevent shrinkage, specifically of
their high-end denim jeans. The manager
implemented several of the strategies, such as
placing the jeans display rack near the point of
sale so that cashiers can keep an eye on them.
Other strategies included cabling display jeans
and keeping inventory jeans in the storage
room. The manager has reported much less
shrinkage since implementing the strategies.
Regional Director Patrick Sawyer, the entire
Edina branch, and the client appreciate Director
Thomas McKenzie’s efforts.

the owner of Bartell Hotels, Richard Bartell, for

While on Patrol, Officer Agee noticed two men
walking in a hallway of the hotel in the middle of
the night. When he asked if he could escort
them back to their rooms, they bolted. Officer
Agee immediately called for backup and
pursued the men outside. One man drove away

Newly Designed Local Office Pages
Andrews International (AI) has released newly developed local office web pages. Each local office
has its own page where visitors can find the office’s address, telephone number, fax number,
hours, year established, and license number, local career opportunities, in-house and local
security resources, testimonials from local clients, and a quote from local management. The easyto-read, easy-to-use design of these pages will attract traffic to these individual pages and lead to
more clients as a result.
Local office pages can be accessed through the “Office Locations” link on the AI website: http://

Safe From the Streets
When Andrews International (AI) found her, 26-year-old Adrienne was struggling as a homeless
young woman. On top of using heroin with her heroin-abusing boyfriend, she had started using
methamphetamines in recent months.
Two of AI’s Unarmed Public Safety Officers (PSOs), Lisa Maki and Andrew Nunez, established a
good rapport with Adrienne in hopes of turning her away from drugs. She broke up with her
boyfriend briefly but returned to him because she felt threatened and pressured into joining a
prostitution ring.
In late June, Adrienne expressed an interest in returning to Illinois to be with her mother. AI’s
Security Director Stephen Seyler worked with local outreach program PATH to make
arrangements for Adrienne’s transportation home, but when it was time to make the commitment,
Adrienne changed her mind and returned to her boyfriend once again.
On July 1, Adrienne visited Director Seyler’s office, claiming that she feared for her life and was
desperate to get home. Director Seyler made the arrangements for Adrienne’s trip once again.
The next day, PSOs Make and Nunez found Adrienne to remind her of her commitment, and she
took the offer to return home. She waited at the office until the team from PATH arrived to take
her to the bus station.
After a shower, some food, and a 3-day trip, Adrienne returned safely to her mother.

Administrator Marlene Chavez says about the training. She and many of the other women
expressed interest in further training.
“I learned to be more aware of my surroundings and I would like to repeat this training more
often,” agrees Dispatcher Nayeli Castro.
Administrator Chavez, Dispatcher Castro, and the rest of the women gained invaluable
experience from this class.

Newly Redesigned Local Office Pages
International Security Associates (ISA) has released newly developed local office web pages.
Each local office has its own page where visitors can find the office’s address, telephone number,
fax number, hours, year established, and license number, local career opportunities, in-house and
local security resources, testimonials from local clients, and a quote from local management. The
easy-to-read, easy-to-use design of these pages will attract traffic to these individual pages and
lead to more clients as a result.
Local office pages can be accessed through the “Office Locations” link on the ISA website: http://
