THIRTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME – November 8, 2015 Sign up next week in the Narthex THIRTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME – November 8, 2015 Parish Council Meeting Annual CYO Mass Sunday, November 15 at 8:45 AM Breakfast to follow in the Social Hall. Monday, November 9th at 7:30 PM in the Social Hall CYO Updates The CYO season begins on November 21st. This year, SJTE has a record-breaking 181 children participating in the program, including two high school teams for the first time ever. Over the next four months, these children will play more than 420 basketball games. Veteran’s Day Prayer Dear Lord, Today we honor our veterans, worthy men and women who gave their best when they were called upon to serve and protect their country. We pray that you will bless them, Lord, for their unselfish service in the continual struggle to preserve our freedoms, our safety, and our country’s heritage, for all of us. We respect them, we thank them, we honor them, we are proud of them, and we pray that you will watch over these special people and bless them with peace and happiness. Amen. On November 15th, CYO will be hosting its annual “Tipoff Mass” at 8:45. Mass will be followed by a breakfast in the Social Hall. Three staples of the CYO program are its annual Food Pantry and Christmas Drives and Hoops for Hope. This year, the Food Pantry drive will take place during the week of November 21-28. The food pantry serves many families within our community, so please be as generous as your means allow. Candy Collection for St. Christopher’s Inn The Christmas Drive will support ten families this year. These efforts are part of the CYO program’s focus on being active in the community and giving back to those in need. Have any leftover Halloween candy? The men at St. Christopher’s Inn love candy. Please leave candy donations in the boxes at the back of the Church during the weekends of November 15th & 22nd. No lollipops or gum, please. After the season, Hoops for Hope will return for a third year to support the SJTE Relay for Life team. This event features such basketball stars as Father Patrick and Father Maximo. Thanksgiving Blood Drive The SJTE CYO program will also return to West Point for a basketball game, followed by a clinic hosted by the cadets. On average, these events have drawn 350 parents and children and are a great experience for all involved. Monday, Nov. 16, 2015 from 2:00-8:00 PM in the Social Hall Say thanks for all your blessings by donating blood. Registration will be after all the Masses on Nov. 7th & 8th and Nov. 14th & 15th. If you are between the ages of 17 and 75 (16 with parental consent), you can donate. Overall, the next several months will be very rewarding for many of the young people in our parish. Thank you to the coaches and parents that volunteer to make that possible.
