We held this year’s first Solar Decathlon Workshop March 19, it was a success (details below). Pavilion at the Roskilde Festival As we briefly mentioned in the previous press release, we have started collaboration with the student organization Grøn Vision (Green Vision). This cooperation has now led to collaboration with Roskilde Festival. Roskilde Festival is Europe’s second biggest music festival, and each summer more than 100,000 are attending the festival. Besides music, the festival is focusing on charity and humanitarian issues. The Roskilde Festival and Team DTU - Solar Decathlon Europe 2012 has agreed that a a demo version (a pavilion) of our Solar Decathlon house will be build in the media area. The pavilion will be used for interviews with artists and organizers, and will thus be exposed and broadcasted both locally and internationally. The Roskilde pavilion has been turned into a “project within the project”, and it has created great interest among students. The pavilion is build by students who have a craftsman education before starting their studies at DTU. They are involved in the production of construction drawings and will get supervision by faculty as well as ECTS-points. Besides showing the pavilion to the public, it is also a unique opportunity to test various concepts, before final kick off in Madrid in 2012. Festival guests get the opportunity - through a mobile phone app - to follow the pavilion data and simultaneously participate in energy and climate-related events. In this way the awareness and interest in the Solar Decathlon and Team DTU will be significantly increased. Later, the pavilion could possible be used for similar purposes in other festivals in Denmark. 3 Press Release - April 13 2011 Project discription Workshop March 19 2011 Our workshop was a great success. We had more than 20 of the leading experts and professionals, with expertise in fields ranging from mobile homes to overall cradle-to-cradle strategies. To get the most out of the event, participants were divided into 4 smaller groups, working with carefully prepared workshop questions: • • • • Green Energy Daylight and Dynamic Components Green Entrepreneurship LCA and Construction Materials The day was very intense, and many interesting and relevant topics were discussed. Many questions were raised, and we have a lot of work in front of us - in order to answer them. We created good relationships between the participants and are looking forward to the future collaboration. The conclusions from the workshop group were edited and nicely layouted and send to all participants as a small publication. 4 Press Release - April 13 2011 Collaborating institutions and sponsoring companies Currently we have a good dialogue with a number of Danish companies. So far, we have had positive responses from Velux, Nilan and Sunsil. The Danish pump manufacturer Grundfos has become one of our main sponsors. We have started a collaboration with the student organization Grøn Vision (Green Vision). Through them we can reach an even larger audience - and cooperation has already resulted in an exhibition at the Roskilde Festival 5 Press Release - April 13 2011 Project images Selected pictures from the SDE workshop (March 19 2011) 6 Press Release - April 13 2011 Project images Selected drawings and sketches 7 Press Release - April 13 2011 Group Photo 8
