Happy New Year!!!!
Welcome to 2014 – a celebration year as we embark on our 25th Anniversary XXXX Gold Variety Bash!!
That’s a quarter of a century of Bashing in Queensland!!!
In addition to our 25 years, we are also set to celebrate the National Bash, an event that brings
together the Bashers from each state for one huge night. 2014 also sees 30 years since Dick Smith
kick started it all!
What better way to kick off these celebrations than by the awesome fundraising events on our
calendar?!! We’ve got plenty happening this month – Bashers are cranking up the Fundraising early
– so have a read through, check out what’s happening and see if you can get involved!!
VARIETY BASH SIGN ON DAY
Sunday 23rd February, 2014
Come and collect your Door Panels, finalise your team’s paperwork and grab some
fundraising ideas at the Variety Bash Sign On Day!!!
The Variety Bash Sign On Day on Sunday 23rd February is the perfect chance to come meet Erin from
the Variety Queensland Motoring Team, find out all you’ve ever wanted to know about the XXXX Gold
Variety Bash and join in the fun and frivolity of Variety- the Children’s Charity of Queensland’s most
iconic event.
For those regular Bashers out there, it’s the perfect opportunity to come along and finalise the
paperwork for your team, collect your door panels and ask any questions you may have about the
2014 XXXX Gold ‘Cane Toads to Cockroaches’ 25th Anniversary Variety Bash.

One of our jobs here at Variety is to provide you with a range of tools to assist you with your
fundraising for the sick, disadvantaged and special needs children - after all, the more you fundraise
the more kids we can help!!
To this end, we have developed a range of ‘How to’ guides to assist you with running an event, or ways

EVERYDAY HERO
STEP ONE:
Go to Variety Bash page on the Everyday Hero website
by clicking on the following link:

STEP FOUR:
Decide whether you want to set up an ‘individual’ or
a ‘team’ fundraising page.
STEP TWO:
Click on the ‘Start Fundraising’ button
that will be utilising Everyday Hero?
Answers: YES Set up an individual page
STEP THREE:
Register and create a fundraising account by filling in
the electronic form on this page.
Ask yourself: Am I the only member of my Bash team
NO
Set up a team page and get
your team members to join
your team.
STEP FIVE:
Set up your fundraising page. This includes
choosing a colour, adding photo’s or video’s,
deciding on the Title for your page and what your
fundraising target is and including personal thank
you messages.
Once all of this is completed, you will be given a
unique website address that you will be able to
forward to all of your contacts to start getting the
money rolling in!!

We will be guaranteeing your merchandise
sizing again this year, so all your crew forms
need to be in by Monday 24th February, 2014.
For those crew forms that arrive after this date, it
will be first in best dressed as to the sizing for
the merchandise.

IN THE VARIETY WORLD
FAREWELL DANIEL LOTZ!!
For five and a half years Dan Lotz has been the front man of the Variety finance team, attending events all
over Queensland and working tremendous hours in order to ensure the job gets done. He’s been the
backbone of the office, the glue that keeps it all together and we are very, very sorry to say that his time
amongst the Variety team is coming to an end. Dan has taken up a new and exciting role as Chief Financial
Officer in the corporate world and will finish with us in mid to late February.
His mischievous banter, his unwavering dedication and his endless efforts for the Variety family will be
sorely missed by the whole team. His outstanding contribution to Variety over the years has been
wholehearted and he ensures us he is not going to ever be too far away should we need a hand.
I am sure you will all join us in wishing him nothing but the best and brightest future and to say thanks for
everything you’ve done in the past five and a half years! We’ll miss you greatly!!!!

What better way to celebrate Australia Day than in true
Aussie style with a pub crawl – the 5th Annual Aussie
Crawl to be exact!
Beginning at the Paddo Tavern at 11am, crawlers will
make their way to the Normanby via the pub heavy
Caxton Street!
Cost is $25 per person – for which you will receive a
stubby cooler, hat, lucky door prizes and nibblies and
a bar tab at the Normanby.

FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITY – AUSTRALIA DAY COCKROACH RACES!!!
If you’re looking to get in some early fundraising for the 2014 Variety Bash, why not put your hand up to
help out at the Australia Day Cockroach Races at the Story Bridge Hotel. Variety man the gates during this
iconic Australia Day event – simply collecting donations from punters as they enter and all the money in
turn comes back to Variety – at the end of the event, the money collected is distributed amongst the
fundraising tallies of those that help out on the day!!

PICNIC ON THE GREEN – SUNDAY 26TH JANUARY, 2014
Join us at O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyard for an Australia Day Picnic on the Green !!
On arrival you will be treated to complimentary wine tasting while collecting your picnic baskets for 2, with a
complimentary bottle of wine, red, white or champagne and your picnic blanket. There are tables and chairs
also.
For your enjoyment there will be barefoot cricket, pip spitting, rapid duck races, thong throwing and more on
the beautiful green. Or you can relax while lying on your blanket under the Silky Oaks and running babbling
brook while cheering others on.

WILD WYLD WEST FAMILY FUN DAY – SUNDAY 16TH FEBRUARY, 2014
Bring the family along in their Wild West Best for a fun family afternoon at the Emerald Showgrounds!!!
The afternoon will include a range of activities for the kids to get involved with including Jumping
Castles, Merry-go-Rounds, Face Painting, Balloon Art and Novelty Races. A BBQ and Entertainment will
also be on hand.

Visiting the Border ranges – the 2014 Mini Bash is the perfect event to get you in the Variety Bash frame of
mind for 2014! Join in the fun and frivolity of the Fun Raisers Car Club Mini Bash on Saturday 15th and
Sunday 16th February and help raise some money for the special kids of Queensland in the process!
COST:
$100 per adult ~ $50 per child
Entry fee includes Lunch and Dinner on the Saturday and Breakfast on the Sunday.
