Fixing
the

How
cancer doctors trick patients
into undergoing chemotherapy
using
fudged
stats
and
unsubstantiated prognoses
It
seems
absurd
in
this
Information Age to believe that
some
doctors
today
will
intentionally mislead patients
about their diagnosis and
prognosis in order to turn a
dollar, but unfortunately, that
is true.
As reported by Erin Elizabeth of Health Nut News, “It happens
more often than you can imagine, but more Doctors are finally
getting caught in the act of misrepresenting their oath and
fraudulently diagnosing healthy patients with cancer to turn a
quick buck from kickbacks on chemotherapy poisons.”
She noted further that there is a built-in incentive for
physicians to mislead patients when the treatment of cancer
has in essence been transformed into an industry in and of
itself. Also, as our own Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, has
reported often, the “business” of treating illness in general
is profitable and, until it is not, disease will endure.
Elizabeth agrees, noting that there is far less money in
preventing disease than there is in treating it.
Misrepresenting and misusing
data
“Take Dr. Farid Fata, a prominent cancer doctor in Michigan
who admitted in court one year ago to intentionally and
wrongfully diagnosing healthy people with cancer,” she wrote,
adding:
Fata also admitted to giving them chemotherapy drugs for the
purpose of making a profit. Were his patients shocked? You
bet they were. Who would ever suspect a Doctor of faking a
diagnosis to collect money. It’s unconscionable. Yet it
happens with cancer and almost every disease that medical
doctors can generate income through kickbacks and commissions
based on the volume of patients treated with specific
pharmaceuticals. Like anything people are used as a
[commodity].
“Many of these unscrupulous Physicians are like businessmen
without a conscience. The only difference is they have your
health and trust in their hands–a very dangerous combination
when money is involved,” said Dr. Sayed Mohammed, a retired
oncologist who admits seeing the trend more than a decade ago,
as quoted by Elizabeth.
The physician was charged with operating a $35 million
Medicare fraud scheme – taxpayer money – that involved billing
the government for medically unnecessary hematology and
oncology procedures. Federal prosecutors said Fata ran his
scheme from 2009 until just recently, when he was caught,
through his medical businesses including Michigan Hematology
Oncology Centers.
“I knew that it was medically unnecessary,” Fata said in
court.
Some of these same medical scam artists misrepresent
statistics and misuse data in order to “justify” medical
treatments and testing that otherwise would not be necessary
or even indicated. Prostate cancer is one such scam.
There is a better, safer and
less expensive answer
“More than 90% of Doctors who encourage cancer treatment for
prostate cancer will generate a commission from each treatment
the patient receives,” Elizabeth wrote. “It proves risky and
often deadly in the long run for most people who don’t
understand how to take care of their health and are persuaded
by false statistics.”
In fact, there have been scores of large studies regarding
prostate cancer where researchers have found that, in nearly
97% of cases, this form of cancer either never spreads beyond
the gland or the patient dies from something else long before
there is evidence of spread. In the bulk of cases where the
disease does spread beyond the gland, it has done so
aggressively and surgery is no longer even an option (let
alone caustic radiation therapy or poisonous chemotherapy).
The good news is that there are better, more effective
alternatives for “traditional” cancer treatments, and they are
all discussed, in great detail, in the Truth About Cancer
Summit.
“The powerful cancer documentary series the mainstream media
refused to air is about to play online,” the series website
reads. “You’ll discover the most effective ways to prevent and
beat cancer you won’t see elsewhere. … see the entire 9-part
series — for free — beginning April 12th.”

Young mom learns she may die
of
cancer
after
doctor
misdiagnosed and put her
through unnecessary chemo
Imagine
having
a
horrible
toothache
that
persists
regardless of taking antibiotics
or even having your tooth
extracted. Then think of how
you’d feel if you were told the
problem was actually due to
cancer, for which you were given chemotherapy and began
showing signs of improvement. As if that’s not difficult
enough, imagine the horror of then being told you were
diagnosed with the wrong kind of cancer all along, and that
you weren’t getting better at all.
Unfortunately, this is a true story that belongs to 27-yearold Gemma Wood.
The newly-married mother of two had a pain in her mouth that
was dismissed as a toothache. When removal of a tooth in the
general area causing her pain and antibiotics didn’t remedy
the problem, she was concerned that this involved something
more serious. Then a lump formed in her cheek; doctors
performed a biopsy and determined she had a neuroendocrine
tumor (NET) in her mouth, behind her cheekbone. Wood began
radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and after just four months,
started showing signs of improvement.
Just when cancer patient thinks her
life is improving, doctors tell her
she was diagnosed incorrectly
Sadly, the feeling of elation that comes with overcoming
cancer and getting back to a normal routine didn’t last very
long.
Just months after finishing chemo and being told her cancer
cells were shrinking, doctors informed her that she didn’t
have a NET after all. Instead, she had a rhabdomyosarcoma, an
aggressive and very rare cancer that attacks the body’s soft
tissues. Worse, she learned that it had spread to her lungs,
making her question doctors’ abilities in general, as well as
how long she has to live.
“This has destroyed all my faith in doctors,” says Wood.
“Whenever we’re in the car on the way to hospital, I’ll feel
really anxious. I’ve even had to have counselling just to help
me continue with chemotherapy because I get so scared about
going back to hospital now.” Wood explains that the type of
chemotherapy differs from the one she previously had when it
was thought she needed to treat the NET. Having to go through
this a second time is a devastating blow to the entire family.
Wood also

daughter, Wood says that the only way she’s known
as a bald, sick woman.
How you can help woman wronged by
the medical community forget about
cancer for a day
A spokesman for University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation
Trust, which “provides services to some 1.9 million people
living in Southampton and south Hampshire” in England, said
that “Gemma’s medical history is complicated and testing of
her initial biopsy did not indicate rhabdomyosarcoma.” The
spokesman said that her treatment is continuing and, “we would
urge her to raise any questions or concerns she has with us so
we can address them with her directly.”
While Wood and her family grapple with the terrible news,
which includes not knowing how long she may live, Wood is
determined to have at least one day where she can cast the
sadness aside. To that end, she’s set up a GoFundMe account so
that she can have a day of celebration with about 150 of her
friends and family members, all in the name of forgetting
about cancer for a day and enjoying life.
“I want to throw a massive party so we can all just forget
cancer for a night, and celebrate life, whatever my outcome,”
says Wood.
There’s a reason so many people
distrust medical experts
Unfortunately, Wood’s distrust in doctors and the medical
community is growing just about everywhere you turn.
For example, you may recall the story in which a licensed New
Jersey nurse administered the flu shot to 70 patients, while
using the same syringe for every person. As a result of her
mindless actions, she’s put these people at risk for possible
exposure to hepatitis, HIV or other blood-related diseases.
Then there’s the case of Dr. Farid Fata, a Michigan
oncologist, who administered unnecessary chemotherapy
treatments to the tune of $35 million in Medicare
determined was he to make a profit by telling people
were ill when in reality, they weren’t, that Fata’s
said to even come to a patient’s car to administer

Given these examples – and the many more that exist out there
– it’s best to take charge of your own health by eating fresh,
organic foods whenever possible, getting exercise, and of
course, insisting on maintaining your rights to always know
about the ingredients in the food supply.

Could fracking be causing
cancer? This experiment’s
results say YES… and quite
rapidly, too!
According to statistics from the
U.S.
Energy
Information
Administration, natural gas now
powers about 33 percent of the
US electrical grid, but the
technique that’s used to extract
oil from the ground today is
much different from the drilling
methods of the past. To speed up the process, a high-tech
method was invented called high-volume horizontal hydraulic
fracturing. While we still call the end product “natural gas”
there really is nothing natural about hydraulic fracturing.
Fracking uses high pressure, water, sand and a myriad of
chemicals to fracture the rock up to 1,000 feet away from the
the well, according to a study titled “Malignant human cell
transformation of Marcellus Shale gas drilling flow back
water.” Fracking is unleashed between 6,000 and 10,000 feet
deep in the well, according to the study, and about 5.5
million gallons of water are used for each fracking well. The
pressure causes fractures to form and forces water and
chemicals back up to the surface. Between 30 and 70 percent of
the water returns to the surface as flowback. This flowback
water contains chemicals from the fracturing process and an
unknown quantity of heavy metals and radioactive compounds
that are destabilized underground during the fracturing
process. This can cause heavy metals to contaminate rural
wells, farmland and food.
So could fracking be causing cancer? A new study says, yes,
and it could be happening much faster than previously
predicted.
Fracking wastewater
tumor growth
causes
The study, which was published in Toxicology and Applied
Pharmacology,
breaks
new
ground,
confirming
the
carcinogenicity of fracking waste water.
Scientists from both China and the US worked together to
discover the effect that fracking wastewater has on human
bronchial epithelial cells. They also introduced the
wastewater to mice to watch for tumor growth. After injecting
the wastewater in mice, five out of six developed tumors
ranging in size from 0.2 cm to 0.6 cm. The tumors formed much
faster than predicted, as early as three months after initial
injection. The control mice formed no tumors after six months.
The study concluded that “flow back water is capable of
neoplastic transformation in vitro,” according to WakeUpWorld.com.
When the researchers looked at human bronchial epithelial
cells, they witnessed severe changes. In the tests, the
flowback wastewater induced malignant changes that were
consistent with the cancerous phenotype. The scientists were
taken aback at how quickly this wastewater was causing
conditions for tumors to take hold.
This is the same toxic wastewater that is discharged to nearby
bodies of water after a fracking operation. This is the same
toxic wastewater that is often injected back underground into
an onsite or offsite disposal well. Sometimes the wastewater
is transported to industrial treatment facilities. Sometimes
it is not. The two elements that were most concerning to the
scientists are barium and strontium. When these elements enter
the body, they mimic calcium and compete with calcium
utilization.
While fracking stands as an economic boon, is it worth the
cost to human and environmental health in both the short and
long term?
Imagine the consequences for one state alone: a state like
Pennsylvania has over 7,700 active fracking wells. According
to these statistics, drillers are currently pumping 42 billion
gallons of water into the depths, mixing it with chemicals as
they proceed. Right now, up to 6 billion gallons of fracking
wastewater (loaded with heavy metals and radioactive
particles) are returning to the surface of Pennsylvania land.
The carcinogenicity is spreading fast, permeating the earth.
As reported by WakeUp-World.com, the study authors concluded:
The BEAS-2B cells exposed to flow back water up to six weeks
appeared to be transformed and exhibiting altered morphology
as compared to parental cells. The present work also provided
Ba and Sr as hydraulic fracturing-related target pollutants
in addition to the more classically- studied fracking
contaminants (i.e., radioisotopes and methane) for further
investigation. Research to determine whether frackingassociated pollutants can migrate to private or public
drinking wells, to identify early warning indicators of
exposure and effect, and to identify suitable remediation
approaches are urgently needed. Descriptive and analytical
epidemiological studies along with animal model studies will
help to better understand the health impact associated with
unconventional shale gas production.

Cancer causing glyphosate
herbicide now contaminating
ORGANIC
wines
from
California, says consumer
group
Health
food
advocates,
scientists and environmental
activists, have long warned
about the implications of
widespread
chemical
use,
particularly
the
overapplication of herbicides and
pesticides on crops.
Those fears are now being confirmed, as science slowly begins
to uncover the extent to which animals, humans and the
environment have been contaminated with man-made, healthdestroying chemicals.
Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup, is
the most widely used herbicide in the world, and
unsurprisingly, it’s now being detected in humans. Over the
last two decades, 2.6 billion pounds of glyphosate have been
applied to America’s farmland, and the consequences are
severe.
Herbicide contamination
Recently, we learned that glyphosate is making its way into
German beer, a real travesty considering that the country has
long prided itself on producing the world’s cleanest beer.
Sadly, as many have predicted, organic foods are not immune to
glyphosate, either.
Concerned about the way chemicals are harming public health,
Moms Across America previously initiated glyphosate testing in
water, urine, breast milk, Pediasure feeding tube liquid given
to pediatric patients with cancer, baby formula and beverages.
But their latest testing involves wine from the North Coast
region of California.
With the help of a former Monsanto genetic engineer, who has
now turned against the seed giant, Moms Across America
commissioned a lab in St. Louis, Mo. to test 10 wines,
including organic and biodynamic wines, for glyphosate-based
herbicides.
Biodynamic wine production differs from organic and
sustainable agriculture in that it takes into account “the
spiritual forces of the cosmos,” according to FoodAndwine.com.
Though eccentric sounding, all that means is that growers link
sowing and harvesting with phases of the moon or the position
of the planets.
Wines
from
Napa,
Sonoma
and
Mendocino contain weed killer
The results, produced by Microbe Inotech Lab, showed that all
10 wines contained the weed killer, but wine produced
conventionally (i.e. via chemical agriculture) had up to four
times as much glyphosate.
“The highest level of glyphosate detected was up to 28.4 times
higher than the other wines at 18.74 ppb from a 2013 Cabernet
Sauvignon from a conventional, chemically farmed vineyard,”
reports Moms Across America.
“The lowest level was from a biodynamic and organic vineyard,
2013 Syrah, which has never been sprayed according to the
owner, with a level of .659 ppb. An organic wine from 2012
mixed red wine grapes, had 0.913 ppb of glyphosate.”
Glyphosate usage in California vineyards is rampant. Of the
estimated 57,000 pounds used in Napa County, more than 50,000
of them were used on vineyards, according to data from the
Calif. Department of Pesticide Registry.
The sampled wines were from Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino
counties. Breast cancer rates in those counties are 10 to 20
percent higher than the national average.
“The detection of the most widely used herbicide in the world
in our wines, especially organic and biodynamic wines which
pride themselves on being free of toxic chemicals, is a
growing problem for the beverage industry.
“The contamination of glyphosate and co-formulants is a
growing challenge for any manufacturer to maintain product
purity using GMO and glyphosate based herbicide sprayed
ingredients,” reports Moms Across America.
The effects of low level chemical
exposure
Glyphosate detection is an indicator of the presence of its
co-formulants, ingredients used to heighten the chemical’s
effectiveness. These are known to become endocrine mimickers,
and can be 1,000 times more toxic than glyphosate alone, says
Moms Across America.
The type or amount of co-formulant chemicals in wine was not
tested. Their impacts on public health are largely unknown.
The glyphosate levels in the wines tested far below the
recommended limit for drinking water; however, that limit was
set more than two decades ago. The knowledge we have today
about the way glyphosate affects the human body is far
different than that was available when the Environmental
Protection Agency set those limits in 1995.
It’s also important to understand that some chemicals are more
harmful at lower levels, and glyphosate is believed to be one
of them.
“According to recent studies, the presence of glyphosate in
consumables is concerning in nanoparticles, or very tiny
levels,” notes Moms Across America.
Glyphosate exposure has been linked to a host of health
effects including its ability to increase breast cancer
growth, destroy beneficial gut bacteria and human placental
cells, cause kidney damage and changes in sex hormones, birth
defects and miscarriages.
It’s also a deadly neurotoxin that is believed to increase
antibiotic resistance – a phenomenon the World Health
Organization warns “is one of the biggest threats to global
healthy today.”

Vaccines
contain
DNA
fragments from aborted human
fetal cells and viruses that
could cause both autism and
cancer
The genetic material from which
many viral vaccines are produced
appears to be a trigger of both
autism and cancer, according to
shocking research compiled by a
renowned molecular and cellular
physiologist
from
Stanford
University in California.
Dr. Theresa Deisher, Ph.D., who was the first person to
discover adult cardiac-derived stem cells, found that residual
cellular DNA from aborted babies demonstrates both oncogenic
and infectious characteristics in vaccines.
Aborted human fetal tissue, it turns out, has long been used
in the production of vaccines, despite the fact that traces of
DNA from this tissue can persist in the final product. The
consequences of this, says Dr. Deisher, can include both
genetic damage and markers of autism.
“It is possible that these contaminating fragments could be
incorporated into a child’s genome and disrupt normal gene
function, leading to autistic phenotypes,” wrote Dr. Deisher
in a paper titled “Spontaneous Integration of Human DNA
Fragments into Host Genome.”
You can access Dr. Deisher’s full study here:
http://soundchoice.org
[PDF]
.
Vaccines made from aborted
fetal cells also linked to
cancer
With over 19 years of experience in biotechnology and vaccine
development, Dr. Deisher knows what she’s talking about when
it comes to vaccine science.
She’s anything but the mindless anti-vaccine caricature so
often mocked by the skeptics crowd, in other words, which is
obsessed with disparaging anyone who questions the official
religion of vaccines, a primary tenet of which says that
vaccines are perfectly safe.
Dr. Deisher’s extensive research into the matter clearly
proves otherwise, showing that aborted human fetal cells are
highly problematic both in terms of brain development and
normal cellular function. Not only do vaccines made from these
cell lines pose an autism risk, but they also increase one’s
risk of cancer.
Specifically with regard to MMR (measles, mumps, rubella),
varicella (chickenpox) and hepatitis A vaccines, a statistical
analysis compiled by Dr. Deisher reveals that vaccines made
from human fetal cell lines, which may contain retroviral
contaminants, are associated with an increased risk of both
autism and cancer.
“Not only are the human fetal contaminated vaccines associated
with autistic disorder throughout the world, but also with
epidemic childhood leukemia and lymphomas,” she added.
FDA
turns
blind
eye
to
aborted human fetal cell DNA
in vaccines at 200 times
legal limit
Not surprisingly, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
has known for decades that aborted human fetal cell DNA causes
genetic mutations in humans when injected via vaccines. But
the agency, which is supposed to be looking out for human
health, has done nothing to withdraw these deadly jabs from
the market.
In fact, when the agency came to the realization that such DNA
is deadly to humans, it decided to regulate it rather than ban
it. Legally speaking, the maximum amount of residual fetal
cell fragments allowed in vaccines is 10 nanograms, according
to the FDA, and the agency admits that even this amount is
harmful.
“DNA is a biologically active molecule whose activities pose a
significant risk to vaccinees,” explains an FDA report on the
issue. “[T]hus, the amount of DNA needs to be limited and its
activities reduced.”
Dr. Deisher’s research, however, revealed that some vaccines
currently on the market contain much more than this. She wrote
that fetal DNA levels ranged from 142 ng to upwards of 2,000
ng per dose, or as much as 200 times the legal limit!
“The MMR II and chickenpox vaccines and indeed all vaccines
that were propagated or manufactured using the fetal cell line
WI-38 are contaminated with [HERV, or human endogenous
retrovirus],” wrote Dr. Deisher, noting that this retrovirus
is associated with causing childhood lymphoma.
“[B]oth parents and physicians have a right to know this.”

FDA
now
wants
to
force
tanning bed users to sign
‘risk acknowledgement’ forms
every
six
months,
but
requires no such forms for
chemotherapy, pharma drugs
For some reason, the Obama
administration can’t get enough
of
regulating
just
about
everything it can possibly
regulate, and with little
thought to the hypocrisy of its
actions or the impact they have
on ordinary Americans.
Now, as reported by the Washington Free Beacon, the Obama Food
and Drug Administration is looking to force adults, who choose
on their own to patronize tanning salons, to sign a “risk
acknowledgement” form before being permitted to tan.
What business the administration thinks it has forcing adults
who make their own way in this world, pay for their own
healthcare and medical coverage, and require no government
assistance whatsoever, to sign a form saying yeah, they get
that tanning can be dangerous, is inexplicable.
The administration, you’ll note, does not require similar
“risk acknowledgement” forms from people before they receive
dangerous chemotherapy, or are prescribed any medication, or
are given a vaccine, or before they are subjected to radiation
therapy, so why must voluntary tanning in a salon be treated
differently? What is the purpose?
Nobody knows. The FDA and someone at the White House (we
wonder who), obviously have a burr about tanning salons, so
that business has become the next target of a predatory
administration and bureaucracy. As the WFB reported further:
“The agency has two pending rules targeting tanning salons,
one banning teenagers from tanning, and another requiring
‘prominent’ warning labels on tanning machines.
“The proposed regulations were released on the Friday before
Christmas, and the public comment periods end on March 21. The
rules would go into effect 90 days after the final version is
published in the Federal Register. The age restriction and
risk waiver rule has received more than 4,200 comments so
far.”
Nanny tanning
The news site noted further that the government wants to
reduce the number of Americans who tan indoors, hoping that
making them sign a risk form will persuade them to give it up
altogether (regulations limiting or banning indoor tanning
will be next, you can bet on it – unless the next president
develops an aversion to nanny government).
The FDA even wants to regulate the kind of font used on the
risk forms – it must be 10-point, at least. The business would
have to keep the forms on file (adding more costs, like file
cabinets and storage space as the businesses grow, not to
mention staff to maintain the paper database), and customers
would have to sign a new form every six months.
“We expect that reading and signing the risk acknowledgement
certification would reduce the demand for indoor tanning,” the
agency said in an economic analysis of the proposed rule, the
WFB reported. “Over time, the user base may fall further
because of potential changes in habits induced by the rule.”
In addition, the proposed rule says that the form “could
counteract any false or misleading information that sunlamp
product users may have received regarding the risks of indoor
tanning.” (Seriously, have you ever heard of anyone who claims
that indoor tanning is risk-free?)
“By making this information available to users in a direct and
accessible manner, the certification would better enable
consumers to make informed decisions about their use of
sunlamp products,” the agency said.
With government healthcare, you get
government rules
Yes, there is an increased risk of skin cancer from tanning
beds, but they also provide necessary vitamin D nourishment
and improve mood, according to researchers.
Keep in mind, as well, that the indoor tanning industry has
already taken a massive hit from Obama, via Obamacare, which
imposed a 10 percent tax. That little rule has cost the
industry tens of thousands of jobs, as thousands of tanning
salons have shut down since it went into effect, as noted
here. Also, the tax has not brought in nearly the amount of
revenue that was projected (another Obamacare broken promise).
Speaking of Obamacare, this is very likely one of the reasons
why the administration and the federal bureaucracy are going
after the tanning industry – because of its inherent health
risks.
It’s not that Obama or the head of the FDA care whether or not
tanners get cancer; all they care about is preventing the
government from having to pay for it, which is increasingly
what will happen as more Americans sign up for coverage in an
Obamacare exchange (or get some other form of government
taxpayer-supported healthcare, a figure which is massive and
rising when you take Medicare, Medicaid, military healthcare
and the Veterans Administration into account).
With all “government-provided” benefits come new governmentprovided rules – and far less freedom. Is the trade-off worth
it?

VIDEO: This is How Banana
Peels
Could
Help
Detect
Cancer Non-Invasively
When bananas start getting black
spots all over them, they either
become banana bread or trash,
but the uses don’t stop there!
Scientists have actually found
that they might be useful in
both detecting and treating skin cancer.
Those black spots contain tyrosinase, an enzyme also present
in human skin, and in even higher amounts in people with
melanoma, a potentially fatal form of skin cancer.
The disease causes telltale spots that are caused by a
malfunction in the regulation of tyrosinase. This malfunction
disrupts melanin, which gives skin its pigment. People with
melanoma have a 10-year survival rate of 95% if the cancer is
detected in stage 1, according to the American Cancer Society.
But the survival rate drops to 43% by mid-stage 3. [1]
A team of scientists at the Laboratory of Physical and
Analytical Electrochemistry in Switzerland developed a cancer
“scanner” and tested it on banana peel spots, which are
approximately the same size as melanoma spots on human skin.
“By working with fruit, we were able to develop and test a
diagnostic method before trying it on human biopsies,” team
leader Hubert Girault said in a statement.
The scanner is made up of 8 flexible microelectrodes, spaced
like comb teeth, which pass over the skin to measure the
amount and distribution of tyrosinase, according to Discovery
News. The electrodes calculate the amount and distribution of
the enzyme. [1]
Then, the scanner was used on skin.
In stage 1, melanoma is not terribly noticeable on the skin;
in stage 2 it is present in large amounts and evenly
distributed; it becomes unevenly distributed in stage 3.
The researchers concluded that tyrosinase is a reliable marker
of melanoma growth.
The next stage of the research will involve using the scanner
to view melanoma tumors and remove them.
“Our initial laboratory tests showed us that our device could
be used to destroy the cells,” said Dr. Girault. [2]
Currently, a biopsy is needed to accurately diagnose melanoma.
The researchers hope their discovery will someday eliminate
the need for painful, frightening tests.
“This system could obviate the need for invasive tests like
biopsies,” the team said.

After Flint’s Water Crisis,
47% of Americans Don’t Trust
Their Water Supplies
Following the well-publicized Flint water crisis, millions of
Americans find it difficult to ignore the possibility that
their water isn’t safe to drink either. According to a poll
taken by the Associated Press, only 47% of Americans still
believe their tap water is safe. Approximately 33% said they
were “modestly confident” in their water supply, and 18% said
that they weren’t confident at all. Are these fears unfounded,
or are Americans wise to worry?
More than half of the people interviewed thought that the
water crisis in Flint, Michigan represents just the tip of the
iceberg, and there have been other incidents which suggest
Americans are smart to look more closely at this issue.
Two years ago, a chemical

of the United States to maintain
water.
The National Resource Defense Council has also put nineteen
additional cities’ water under serious scrutiny, stating that
many citizens are drinking water contaminated with industrial
chemicals and arsenic. Out of date plumbing systems are
largely to blame – just like what caused the Flint water
crisis.
Furthermore, only 91 contaminants are regulated by the Safe
Drinking Water Act, yet more than 60,000 chemicals are used
within the United States, according to Environmental
Protection Agency estimates. Many are agricultural pesticides
and herbicides, but not one has been added to the watch list
since 2009.
For the last decade, more than 62 million Americans have been
exposed to drinking water that did not meet at least
one commonly-used government health guideline intended to help
protect people from cancer or serious disease.
When half of America thinks Flint’s crisis could be their
crisis, it turns out they are absolutely correct.
Meanwhile, more than 6 billion gallons of water per day are
wasted
as
water
infrastructure
goes
unrepaired.
Further, companies like Nestle continue to draw water from the
Great Lakes for free, and then sell it back to residents, just
like the company did to residents of California during one of
the worst droughts in history. Even more crazy? Obama has been
selling our water to China while citizens of Michigan and
California go thirsty.

Medical Marijuana Reaches Key
Legislative Approval in Texas
There’s a saying that “Everything’s bigger in Texas,” but
apparently everything is slower, too. The state is preparing
to issue licenses for medical marijuana dispensaries to
legally sell products with low levels of THC, such as cannabis
oil, but there’s a catch.
First, the medical marijuana types will be extremely limited,
and only those with an intractable form of epilepsy will be
allowed to partake of cannabis’ incredible healing properties.
Next, the program was set to launch at the beginning of 2016,
but dispensaries seeking a license won’t likely see the light
of day until June of 2017, with applications coming available
this summer.
Texas Sen. Jose Rodriguez, who was a co-author of the bill,
told local news station KFOX
“There’s no question that you do have to go through a lot of
hurdles before you’re eligible to receive treatment under
this particular legislation.”
The program’s launch is overdue, with a requirement for the
state to issue at least three licenses by September 2017,
according to Texans for Responsible Marijuana Policy.
When it is finally up and going, the program will be one of
the nation’s most restrictive legalization policies. Only one
medical condition will qualify an individual to use cannabis
as a healing modality.
Hopefully Texas will step-up its legalization efforts, though,
and join other states which are seeing billions in tax revenue
from legalizing. According to NerdWallet, a personal finance
site, Texas could enjoy a total $3.1 billion annual windfall,
the average predicted for state governments that legalize the
strongly-demanded plant.

New Study Links Vitamin D
Deficiency with Breast Cancer
Cell Growth
It is estimated that as much as
35% of all cancers have a
foundation in lacking nutrition.
When lifestyle factors such as
smoking
and
exercise
are
included, the associated risk
becomes much stronger and may be as high as 85%. This makes
the latest study, published in the journal Endocrinology, all
the more interesting. The study’s authors show a direct
correlation between vitamin D deficiency and the spreading of
breast cancer cells.
The study, titled “Tumor Autonomous Effects of Vitamin D
Deficiency Promote Breast Cancer Mestastasis,” indicates that
not only are many breast cancer patients found frequently to
have a preexisting deficiency in vitamin D levels (low serum
25-hydroxyvitamin D), but a number of epidemiological studies
have found an inverse link between breast cancer risk and
vitamin D status. This again outlines the vitamin d-cancer
relationship.
In other words – once again, a healthy diet full of vitaminrich foods can help to prevent cancer.
The study abstract states:
“We found that ablation of vitamin D receptor expression
within [breast cancer] BCa cells accelerates primary tumor
growth and enables the development of metastases,
demonstrating a tumor autonomous effect of vitamin D
signaling to suppress BCa metastases. We show that vitamin D
signaling inhibits the expression of the tumor progression
gene Id1, and this pathway is abrogated in vitamin D
deficiency in vivo in 2 murine models of BCa.
These findings are relevant to humans, because we discovered
that the mechanism of VDR regulation of Inhibitor of
differentiation 1 (ID1) is conserved in human BCa cells, and
there is a negative correlation between serum 25hydroxyvitamin D levels and the level of ID1 in primary
tumors from patients with BCa.”
Vitamin D is naturally made by the body when we spend time in
the sun, but it can also be derived from cod liver oil, fatty
fish, Portabello mushrooms, tofu, fortified cereals, cheese,
and egg yolks.
This is yet another scientific confirmation that our diet and
lifestyle choices profoundly affect gene expression. We are
not relegated to the patterns of our ancestors, with a
predisposition for cancer. We can change how our genes react
by how we react.
