2015 National Championships Entry Guide (available on BMXA website) and/or any Final
Instructions.
UCI BMX Rule references are from version 04.04.14 of the UCI Part VI BMX Rule Book.
Should there be any updated versions of the UCI Rules published to the start of the 2015
National Championships they will supersede this document.
1. ENTRIES

1.1 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA & QUALIFICATIONS
1) OBJECTIVE
The objective of the BMX National Championships Eligibility Criteria is to govern eligibility
(including qualifications where required) and entries in the BMX National Championships
in the Junior, Elite, Challenge and Sprocket categories.
2) DEFINITIONS
In these Criteria, the following words have the following respective meanings:
BMX National Championships means the 2015 Subaru BMX National Championships to
be held on the Brisbane SX Track, in Sleeman Sports Complex from April 28 - May 3,
2015.
Home State Championships means the BMX State Championship that occurred in the
State, where a rider holds a current membership at time of event, following the proceeding
years National Championships (ie any State Championships from May 2014)
3) CHAMPIONSHIP CLASSES (ELITE & JUNIOR ELITE)
There are no qualifications required for the BMX National Championships in the Junior and
Elite classes. BMX National Championships are for Australian Riders only.
4) CHALLENGE
a) Automatic Qualifications
A rider gains automatic qualification to the BMX National Championships if they finished
as a main finalist in the previous year’s BMX National Championships or a current BMX
World Championship plate holder.
b) Home State Championships Qualifications
For riders not selected as automatic qualifiers, to be eligible to qualify for the BMX National
Championships, a rider must:
i) be a current BMX Australia (BMXA) Open Member; and must
ii) have competed in their Home State Championships in the year preceding the
National Championships including 8 year riders who competed as Sprockets and
riders who competed in a challenge 20” class, that wishes to race in secondary 24”
Cruiser class
c) Wild Card Application
If a rider has not automatically qualified or was unable to attend their Home State
Championships and wishes to gain entry to the BMX National Championships a riders is
required to submit a wild card application (see page 4 for more information).
5) SPROCKET
To be eligible to qualify for the BMX National Championships, a rider must have a current
BMXA Sprocket Membership and must have held such membership for more than 6
months before the starting date of the BMX National Championships.
6) MINI WHEELER
To be eligible to qualify for the BMX National Championships, a rider must have a current
BMXA Mini Wheeler Membership by the close of entries of the BMX National Championships.

1.2 WILD CARD APPLICATION & ENTRIES
If a rider has not automatically qualified or was unable to attend their Home State
Championships and wishes to gain entry to the BMX National Championships, a rider is
required to submit a wild card application.
The wild card application form can be obtained from bmxaustralia.com.au. The completed
wild card application form is to be lodged with the BMX Australia office (by either post,
facsimile or email to the BMXA contact details provided on page 2) along with a manual
entry form and any supporting documents.
ITEMS TO BE PROVIDED TO BMXA:
- Completed wild card application
- Completed manual entry form* (will be processed once application has been successful)
- Any supporting document(s) for application
* Entries cannot be processed online when applying for a wild card.
Completed wild card applications will be provided to the Event Management Committee.
The Event Management Committee will in their sole discretion decide whether a wild card
application is accepted. All wild card applications will be considered individually and will
require supporting documentation. The decision of the Event Management Committee is
final and there is no appeal available from this decision.
If an application has been approved, the rider will be notified and their entry will be
processed.
CIRCUMSTANCES THAT DO NOT REQUIRE A WILD CARD:
- 8 year riders that competed in their State Championships as a Sprocket
- Sprocket class entries where the rider has held a BMXA Sprocket membership for more
than 6 months before the starting date of the BMX National Championships
- Riders who competed in their State Championships in one class, but wish to enter an
secondary class (ie 24” Cruiser)

1.3 KEY ENTRY DATES
Please ensure that you comply with the following entry dates for the 2015 Subaru BMX

Please send posted entries via registered post to guarantee proof of delivery. Ordinary
mail that gets lost will not be an accepted excuse for entries not received or received late.
Dishonoured cheques and declined credit cards are classified as invalid entries. Entry fees
and bank charges incurred as a result of the above must be reimbursed to BMXA prior to
close of entries to be accepted.
1.4 LATE ENTRIES
LATE ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY 4PM THURSDAY 26 MARCH 2015.
Late entries will incur a $50 fee per class for every class entered.
Please send posted entries via registered post to guarantee proof of delivery. Ordinary
mail that gets lost will not be an accepted excuse for entries not received or received late.

1.5 ACCEPTANCE & REFUSAL OF ENTRIES
It is the riders’ responsibility to check if an entry has been accepted. Notification of
acceptance of all successful applicants will be done via the entry list on the BMXA website
bmxaustralia.com.au.
Information will be updated on a regular basis. Please contact the BMXA office immediately
on (02) 9008 1300 if you have a query regarding your entry.
BMX Australia reserves the right to refuse entry to any person.
1.6 RIDER WITHDRAWAL & REFUNDS
No refunds will be given after close of entries for any reason. This provision applies
irrespective of subsequent injury or illness. Refunds issued prior to this date will be less
the event administration fee of $20.00

1.7 TEAMS ENTRY
Teams must enter using a MANUAL ENTRY FORM.

Team entry is $80 per team. You may nominate your riders up until 12PM WEDNESDAY 29
APRIL 2015 via [email protected]
Note: After closing time Team Managers may advise the Technical Coordinator Assistant
of a substitute rider to replace a nominated team member who is unable to compete in the
event due to injury. Any changes advised later that one hour prior to the commencement
of racing on FRIDAY 1 MAY 2015 may not be accepted. If the rider that is replaced competes
in the event then the team entry will be disqualified.
Teams cover the following categories and available only for 20” classes:
State Championship & Challenge Teams: Teams entered by State Associations
Club Teams: Teams entered by registered BMX Clubs
Corporate Teams: Teams entered by Pro Shops, manufacturers, business houses & other
interested groups

Manual Entries will incur a $20.00 processing fee per entry form.
Online entries incur a $1.05 service fee + credit card processing fees.
The prices above include a hired transponder per race (excluding Sprocket, Mini Wheeler
and Pre-Title classes). If a rider has a personal transponder then they will receive a $10.00
discount on race fee.

2.1 RACING NUMBERS
All competitors will be provided with a competition number plate & numbers assigned by
BMXA which is the only plate to be used for the entire National Championships, including
the National Series Round and Oceania Championship.
Riders entering the National Series Round 9 or Oceania Championship but NOT entering
the National Championships will use their previously issued National Series plate.
Allocation of race numbers for Junior and Elite classes will respect the UCI BMX Permanent
Career Numbers. Letters available for selection are limited to “W” and “A” only.
Practice may be refused if the correct number plate is not displayed at all times whilst on
the track, including practice times.
2.2 DRUG TESTING
As members of BMXA, all entrants agree to submit to the standard ASADA testing for the
use of banned substances
2.3 TRANSPONDERS
Transponders will be used in conjunction with a finish line camera system at the 2015
Subaru BMX National Championships for all racing excluding participation classes. It is
the riders’ responsibility to ensure that the transponder is correctly fitted to their bike and
that it is working by checking at the Transponder Test Station..
Hired transponders for the 2015 Subaru BMX National Championships are $10.00 per
class. Hired transponders must be returned to the race organiser at the conclusion of the
event or once they have finished competing. Failure to do so will incur a cost to the rider
of $150 plus recovery costs.
NOTE: Riders who use their own personal MyLaps transponder must include your
transponder number clearly on your entry to avoid having an automatic hire charge
applied to your entry.
2.4 RACING FORMAT
UCI transfer system applies for all categories except for participation classes. Block format
applies.
Gate positions for motos as per UCI rule 6.1.021 Appendix 2. Gate positions for qualifying
rounds as per UCI rule 6.1.021 Paragraph A. Current UCI Rules will apply as at the first day
of competition.
NOTE: Year of birth entry applies for all categories including participation classes. Mini
Wheeler and Sprockets will run under scrambled moto draw.

2.5 PRE-TITLES
ENTRIES FOR PRE-TITLES WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL 4PM THURSDAY 26 MARCH 2015.
Pre-Titles are run on the Wednesday preceding the National Championship event by BMX
Australia. To be eligible to nominate for the pre-titles you must have entered and paid for
the 2015 Subaru BMX National Championships.
2.6 REGISTRATION
Registration will be held in the Badminton Warm Up Theatre at the Sleeman Sports Complex on:
Tuesday 28 April
9am - 3pm
Wednesday 29 April
7am – 12pm
Thursday 30 April
8am – 11am
Competitors are required to attend registration for both the 2015 Subaru National
Championships and Round 9/Oceania Championships and present their current BMXA
licence (required for barcode scan entry) no later than 12PM THURSDAY 30 APRIL 2015.
There are to be NO BIKES in the registration venue.
2.7 PRACTICE AND RACE TIMES
BMX Australia has created a separate document for the 2015 Subaru BMX National
Championships schedule for riders to use as a guide for practice and race times. The
Schedules released will be in draft format and are a guide only. The schedule will be
available on www.bmxaustralia.com.au
2.8 SPROCKET & MINI WHEELER CLINIC
A Sprocket & Mini Wheeler Clinic will be conducted by BMXA with accredited coaches and
is free to all “Sprocket Rockets” & Mini Wheelers who enter the National Championships.
This will be held at the track on Wednesday morning prior to Pre-Titles (times to be
confirmed).
This clinic is compulsory for all Sprockets and Mini Wheelers.
2.9 POLICIES AND PROCEDURES FOR EVENT
All competitors, Officials, Members and supporters are to read and abide by the BMX
Australia Rules and Regulations, including, but not limited to:
a. BMX Australia Anti-Doping Policy
b. BMX Australia Member Protection Policy
c. BMX Australia Helmet Policy
d. BMX Australia Integrity Gaming Match Fixing Policy

2.10 AWARDS
All athletes who have placed in the finals must attend their respective presentation awards
ceremony. Failure to do so will result in a loss of award (including prize money). Riders who
cannot attend awards ceremonies must advise the Event Manager or the Race Director
with a valid reason. Riders must wear race apparel to awards ceremonies. Failure to do so
will result in a loss of award (including prize money).
2.11 VENUE INFORMATION
BMX Australia is working with the Sleeman Sports Complex and BMX Queensland to
ensure that sufficient space is made available for the all event requirements at the 2015
Subaru BMX National Championships. Due to construction, the layout for the event will be
significantly different to that of the 2013 event and we are confident that these changes
will in no way effect the event delivery.
Please note: camping, staying in a caravan/camper or similar overnight is not permitted at
the Sleeman Sports Complex at any time.

3.1 PARTICIPATION CLASSES: SPROCKETS & MINI WHEELERS
Sprocket and Mini Wheeler racing will comply with the Junior Sports Policy as noted in
the BMX Australia Rule Book.
** A Sprocket & Mini Wheeler Clinic will be conducted by BMXA with accredited coaches
and is free to all Sprocket Rockets & Mini Wheelers who enter the National Championships.
This will be held at the track on Wednesday morning prior to Pre-Titles:
Sprocket Clinic - 8:00am - 9:00am
Mini Wheeler Clinic - 9:00am - 9:25am
This clinic is compulsory for all Sprockets and Mini Wheelers. **
MINI WHEELER
The following Mini Wheeler classes will be offered in the 2015 Subaru BMX National
Championships:
Boys (2-4 years) (1 class)
Girls (2-4 years) (1 class)
Mini Wheelers are any riders aged 2 – 4 years that can ride a BMX mini wheeler bike (balance
bike) without assistance. To be eligible to qualify for the BMX National Championships, a
rider must have a current BMXA Mini Wheeler membership by the close of entries of the
BMX National Championships.
All Mini Wheeler riders will receive equal participation awards at the Mini Wheeler
presentation.
SPROCKET
The following Sprocket classes will be offered in the 2015 Subaru BMX National
Championships:
5- 6 Boys, 7 Boys (2 classes)
5-7 Girls (1 class)
To be eligible to qualify for the BMX National Championships, a rider must have a current
BMXA Sprocket membership and must have held such membership for more than 6
months before the starting date of the BMX National Championships.
All Sprockets will receive equal participation awards at the Sprocket presentation.

Five paid entries as at close of registration constitute a class. Classes shall be combined
after registration if less than 5 riders register. Under subscribed classes will be combined
with the next appropriate class. You are only permitted to enter one 20” & one 24” class.
Boys – 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16; (9 classes)
Girls – 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16; (9 classes)
Men - 17-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50+; (7 classes)
Women – 17-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50+ (7 classes)
Medals 1-3
Plates 1-8
Trophies 1-8

Five paid entries as at close of registration constitute a class. Classes shall be combined

Retro classes are open wheel classes on bikes (frame/fork) that must be built pre 1986
with period friendly components.

4. GRANDS CHALLENGE

Available to the top eight Australian riders based on 2015 BMX Australia National Series
points in 16 years, Junior & Elite classes will be the opportunity to compete for a trip to the
2015 Race of Champions and Grand Nationals event in the United States.
Criteria to qualify for event:
• Top eight Australian riders based on the 2015 BMX Australia National Series points
for each class (16yr, Junior & Elite) as at the end of Round 9 of the 2015 National Series
qualify.
• All 2015 BMX Australia National Series event criteria apply
• Only open to riders who are eligible to compete for Australia at the 2015 World
Championships
• Event is run on a 3 final final format only. Top points at the end of the 3rd final is
declared the winner. Prize is awarded to winner only.
*in the event of a tie at the end of the 3rd final then the count back process based
on position from prior final applies
• Gate selection for the first final will be seeded based on top point scorer as at
the end of Round 9 of the 2015 BMX Australia National Series. Subsequent gate
selections will be based on the set format offered and this will be disclosed to riders
when selecting their gate for the first final.
• Prize includes return economy flights to Tulsa Oklahoma, accommodation for 5
nights and entry into the 2015 Race of Champions (ROC) and Grand Nationals events
(all travel arrangements to be booked / coordinated by the BMXA office)

- Seating will be allocated for the event (tables of 10 only)

- Any award recipient that pre-purchases a ticket will be refunded the ticket price by BMXA. BMXA recommends all recipients pre-purchase tickets to ensure they do not miss out as tickets are limited.
