December Membership Development Events
Ugly Elephant Party
Thank you for a fabulous year, Jaycees! As a firsttime Board member, I would like to say how wonderful it was to serve such a great group of people. I
hope you were satisfied with the membership activities we had this year. If you were not, please let
someone on the 2012 Board of Directors know and
we can try to provide more meaningful activities next
year. Maybe you don’t remember what the membership activities were in 2011. I have included a list so
you can reminisce and think about what you would
like to see in the future. If you think of ways to make
these current activities better, please let the Board
members know.

Year-End Convention
The Michigan Jaycees Winter Assembly is scheduled for February 10-12 in Bay City and will be a weekend full of
training, networking, recognition, and fun, as we celebrate the success we've enjoyed on our journey towards
Happily Ever After in 2011 and fully embrace what it means to Write Our Future in 2012. Remember to get your
register in before December 31, which is when the early-bird registration ends! Contact Paula and tell her your tshirt size and meal choice (standard, vegetarian or vegan).
Region B Meeting
Due to some unforeseen circumstances, the Region B meeting has been postponed. We will be holding the last
ever Region B meeting in February at the Year-End Convention in Bay City.
NOTS/LOTS
Save the Date: January 6 and January 7, 2012 for NOTS and LOTS. You are probably asking…what is NOTS/LOTS?
NOTS is New Officer Training School and LOTS is Local Officer Training School. This is a great opportunity to learn
more about the inner-workings of the Jaycee organization. More details to come, but this will take place in Lansing.
Koeze Nut Sale
November Recap…
We are still selling Koeze Nuts. Did
you forget about that last minute
Christmas gift for your co-workers? If
so, Koeze Nuts are GREAT!
Contact Paula to place an order.
How do you…
Wrap a gift like a pro?

a success
1. Select a large, clean, hard surface (that means
the back seat of the SUV is out). Try using your
kitchen table.
2. Have a clean, empty box nearby to hold rolls of
paper when they’re not in use.
3. Keep a small basket or plastic bin nearby with
sharp scissors, gift tags, pens or markers, ribbon, bows, and anything else you like to use for
adornments.
4. Get an office tape dispenser and load it up with
double-sided transparent tape.
5. Because scissors never seem to cut a straight
line, do what the pros do and fold a small
amount of paper under to make a straight
edge. Your wrapping will look tidier, and you’ll
be able to match up the pattern.
6. Here's the step that'll put a subtle but professional touch on your gift: Before you add the
ribbon and other embellishments, put a sharp
crease on all the edges of the box. Run each
edge between your thumb and the side of your
forefinger.
7. Make sure that you use plenty of bows and ribbon, and consider attaching sprigs of greenery,
bells, silk or real flowers, cookie cutters, or any
other embellishments that seem appropriate.
