Mecalux has obtained the ISO 9001,
the quality control management
system which applies to the desing,
producction, installation and aftersales service of its stora-ge products.
The ISO 9001 certificate has been
awarded to the production plants in
Spain, Mexico and Argentina for all
our metal racking for static, mobile
and live storage, light duty shelving,
mezzanines, lockers and office
partitioning.
Mecalux is aware of the
environmental issues and of the

work done at its plants. Applying the

In October 2000, the world
renowned German company,
TÜV Product Service GMBH,
awarded Mecalux its quality
certificate after auditing and
testing the material handling
instructions and the design,
production and assembly
processes of our products.
Conscious of the need to apply the
most advanced security techniques
on their racking and shelving,
Mecalux has been incorporating the
recommendations for the new
system of calculation, design and
testing of metal shelving from the
European Federation of Maintenance
since 1995.
These recommendations are now a
European standard, the EN 15512,
which specifically adapts to the
existing EU directive on the
calculation of metal structures
for conventional shelving, also
regulating the process and the
tolerances in the assembly and
control of materials. Its objective
is focused on the global analysis
of the stability and resistance of
the shelving, applying calculation
methods of second order by
means of models with finite
elements.

designed to manage warehouse
operations.
The warehouse management software,
as the integrating body of storage and
distribution systems, consists of a set of
integrated applications and tools that
interact with each other by means of
permeability mechanisms and
communication protocols. Together with
the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)
system, the warehouse management
software manages and directs all
operations that take place in the
warehouse.

Stacker cranes are machines
designed for the automated
storage of materials by means of
automated mechanical
movements. Materials are entered
and extracted in the same
movement (this is known as a
combined cycle). This increases
the productivity of the installation
at the same time as reducing the
resources required for it to
function.
At the top they are guided by a
profile placed on the racking and
at the bottom by a track that is
anchored into the ground.

The specially designed system means that very little height space is wasted.
Unlike other compact systems, each level can be used to store a different SKU.
Push-back is an accumulative
storage system that allows you to
store up to four pallets deep per
level. All of the pallets on each
level, except the last, are placed
on a set of trolleys that are
pushed along the rolling rails.
These rails are built on a slight
incline, lower at the front, so that
the pallets at the back move
forward when the pallet closest to
the aisle is removed. All the
pallets placed on a particular level
must contain the same SKU and
are managed using the Last In
First Out (or LIFO) system.

and removed manually from shelves.
This system also makes optimal use of

It is also common practice to set up a

The Miniload or AAC warehouses
apply the “product to man” principle:
the units to be loaded (boxes) located

Clasimat is an automated warehouse
with a vertical lifting system. Product
entry and exit is done automatically by
a shuttle elevator and extractor
mechanism. This system applies the
“product to man” principle, ideal for
order preparation.
System operation is very simple. The
operator selects the required product
on the control panel. Automatically,
the shuttle moves vertically up to the
level where the product is stored,
extracts the corresponding tray and
returns it to the picking area or output
table.

Manual sliding mechanism. This
system is designed for light-weight
storage and is particularly suitable for

Traction is carried out via the handles,
which are located on the exterior side
of each unit.

Manual-mechanical driving
mechanism. This mechanism consists of a
mechanical driving system, based on cogs,
pinions and chains that transmits the
required direction of rotation to the
driving wheels, by way of the drive arm
(crank), thus considerably reducing the
amount of force required.

Automatic sliding mechanism. Movement
of the shelving unit is activated by pressing a
power switch, automatically repositioning the
units to allow access to the bays. The traction
systems consists of a reducer-unit gear motor
which keeps itself maintenance-free thanks to
its continual oil dip-coating system. The unit is
equipped with a security system to prevent the
accidental displacement of shelving when
personnel are present between the aisles.
