No refunds are issued when camps are canceled due to weather. • There is no camp on Friday, July 3 in observance of Independence Day. • Full payment is preferred at registration. An extended payment option is available for anyone who registers in person. To register by phone or online, payment in full by credit card is needed. Your child can be enrolled in a camp when all the following conditions are met: ∆ Registration and full payment is made by cash, check or credit card, or extended payment form is turned in to the Phillips Recreation Center. ∆ Space remains in the camp session(s) requested. As camps fill, waiting lists are created on a first come, first serve basis. Please ask a staff member for details. I have more than one child in camp. Is there a discount? Families with more than one child attending any Urbana Park District camp during the same session receive a discount of $14 per session for each additional child. Multi-child discounts are only available over the phone or in person, not online. How can I pay for camp in installments using the extended payment option? If you choose to pay in installments, a $25 per camper, per session, nonrefundable registration deposit is required for each camp session requested. This deposit will be applied to the full payment of the camp fee. The remainder of the fee must be paid by: • • Pre-authorized credit card payment or Pre-authorized automated withdrawal from checking account In addition to the registration form, you will complete an extended payment form authorizing the Urbana Park District to make scheduled withdrawals from your checking account or credit card. Your credit card or checking account will be debited two weeks before the first day of the camp session. Families requesting special payment schedules should contact the Phillips Recreation Center Office Manager at 217-367-1544. I need assistance affording camps. Are there scholarships available? Requests for scholarships must be received no later than two weeks before a program’s registration deadline. See page 4 for details. Space is not guaranteed, and a spot is not saved for your child until we receive payment or the $25 deposit. The regular camp payment schedule still applies. I receive assistance from CCRS (Child Care Resource Service). What do I need to know about camp registration? A $10 deposit per child per week is required to save a spot. Deposits will be refunded at the end of the summer as long as your child attends 80% (4 out of 5 days) of camp for each week enrolled. Extended camps are an extra fee that will not be covered by CCRS. If you would like to register for these camps, you will need to sign up for the regular payment plan. An approval letter for the Urbana Park District or payment in full will be required by the Thursday before a camp begins in order for your child to attend. You are responsible for any remaining balance after CCRS. Can I request a refund? There is a $25 nonrefundable deposit for every camp session. Refunds for the camp price, minus the $25 deposit, will be issued if requested at least two weeks prior to the camp start date. No refunds are issued when camps are canceled due to weather. How do I transfer my child from one camp to another? You may transfer your child to another camp that meets during the same session, space permitting, if you make the request at least two weeks prior to the start of the camp session. My child needs special services. How do I request them? Champaign Urbana Special Recreation (CUSR) offers inclusion services for Urbana Park District programs. Upon an initial assessment, services that are deemed appropriate based on each individual will be provided. If needed, a one-on-one aide will work with your child. Budding artists focus on the visual and performing arts: painting, sketching, collage, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, cartooning, and photography, to name just a few. Each session will have a virtual art show posted online; an art show will also be held at Lincoln Square for friends, families, and campers to enjoy! Summer Arts Campers can extend their day with these afternoons of general recreation activities, swimming and more. Structured and unstructured activities will be offered, including games, sports, movies, quiet play, playground time and a daily snack. We swim up to twice a week. Extended Camp ends at 5:30pm. Participants must be enrolled in the corresponding session of Summer Arts Camp. Camp does not meet on July 3. Pick up will alternate between the UIAC, 102 E. Michigan, and Brookens Gym, 1776 E. Washington. Age 6-12 Register by May 4 for Super Early Bird price. Kids will enjoy a variety of fun activities involving sports and swimming, while making new friends in an active environment. Campers are instructed on a variety of sports activities, receive swim lessons at the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center, participate in competitions, and go on trips. Camp through July 24 includes two afternoons a week of free swim at the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center. Campers ride MTD buses for field trips. Bring a lunch that does not need refrigeration, a morning snack, and a swimsuit and towel each day. No flotation devices are allowed. For the final two weeks of camp, the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center is closed for annual cleaning and maintenance. From July 27–August 7 the focus of camp will be on sports. Daily drop off and pick-up will be at Brookens Gym. Enjoy a variety of sport and aquatic activities. Middle schoolers develop and execute service projects together at locations around Urbana-Champaign. They challenge, inspire and energize themselves while giving back to the community. Possible projects include socializing with adult daycare clients, creating gift baskets for homeless shelters, preparing meals for soup kitchens, and maintaining community gardens. Make structures and usable items with a variety of materials, including Legos, Magnatiles, PVC pipes, bricks, wood, and more. You will be able to take some creations home and have fun (safely) deconstructing the others. We will also take field trips and spend time doing general recreation activities during construction breaks. Bring a morning snack, lunch, and a beverage. An afternoon snack will be provided. Children are divided into separate camp groups by age: Kneehigh Camp (age 3-4), Kinder Camp (age 5-6), Crystal Lake Camp (age 6-8) and Earthscope Camp (age 9-12). In each camp, children spend their days exploring the outdoors during weekly themed sessions. Leaders guide hands-on discovery, games, crafts, field trips and more. The Champaign County Humane Society invites you to experience a week filled with pet-related games, lessons and crafts. Enjoy daily interactions with “animal ambassadors” and learn about their care in a fun and safe manner. Meet visitors from the community who work to help animals every day. Dates TBA. Experience camp from the leader’s point of view and bring your own energy and talents to the Urbana Park District’s summer camps. Participate in and lead daily camp activities while assisting counselors and children in Nature Day Camp. You will volunteer 15-20 hours per week, attend weekly CIT meetings and participate in ongoing training throughout the summer. Join the elite group of teens who gain experience and leadership skills that prepare them for future summer and part-time jobs. As a CIT, you make camp even more fun for the kids. Interested? Complete a CIT application, available at any Park District office or online at www.urbanaparks.org. Candidates are selected through an application and interview process. Space is limited. Fee $310; includes camp T-shirt, all training, supervision and field trips for the entire day camp season. Payment will be due on acceptance into the program. Job Opportunity: Junior Counselor Program (JC) Monday-Friday, June 1-July 24 Ages 16-17 (15 with related experience) Being a JC trains you for future camp leader positions and much more. You get the benefits of a paid position that includes staff training, with all the benefits of a fun camp experience that includes swimming and field trips. Throughout the summer, your level of responsibility increases along with your skills and confidence in your own abilities. Junior Counselors work alongside camp leaders, assist campers and CITs and bring energy and enthusiasm to camp each day. You’ll participate in the planning and leadership of daily camp activities and attend weekly staff meetings. As a JC, you’ll have a paid 20-25 hour work week and receive a staff T-shirt. Interested?
