The Paint Along demonstrates a particular approach to building a
painting. The students follow along with the process step-by-step
over a period of five to six weeks to create a final oil painting. The
intent of the class is not to copy but to steer the students through
a process, thus encouraging them to incorporate the featured
techniques into their own technique repertoire. We will be working
from photos that the instructor will supply.

Students draw and learn anatomy and then paint the model in
different ethnic costumes. This is a traditional academy-style class.
Serious beginners to advanced students are welcome. We will not
be working from photographs, but we will be referring to art books
and other sources for discussion. This is an ideal class for building a
portfolio for college. Teens welcome. New/Beginner students bring
sketch materials to first class; additional materials will be discussed.

7 Figure Painting

In this class, students will learn basic human proportions and
painting techniques to help them better describe the life model.
Class lessons will include proportion, value, and simplification of the
planes of the model, limited palettes and extended palettes. This
class will utilize class-long and multiple-week poses with the life
model. Model fee is included in the tuition.
5 Painting the Still Life (Digital Lab) David Katz

In this class we will look to artists who have been successful in still
life painting and then apply those techniques to our own work.
Learn to set up your own still life for the most dramatic effect.

years at the prestigious Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. This
class is especially good for intermediate and advanced artists who

their work from someone who has “been there”. This class is geared
toward Expressionism and Abstraction.

Expressionism in realism has a strong tradition. From artists like

Integrate dry mediums such as charcoal and graphite with wet
media such as paints and washes to refine drawings into expressive
mixed media pieces. Mixed media drawing and painting include
but are not limited to charcoal, graphite, and acrylic. Students are
encouraged to bring any materials that they wish to experiment with.

The art of trompe l’oeil (“fool the eye”) is based on the fact that
the eye perceives reality more rapidly than the mind, and for the
observer the pleasure lies in the discovery of the fraud.
Rooms can be visually transformed through trompe l’oeil murals.
In this class you will learn how to create visual illusions in your own
home, using wall paint and acrylic as a medium.

the film - get inspired! Create rough sketches and jot down ideas.

of the film class may end earlier. Bring sketch materials. Day 2:
create and illustrate! Paintings, drawings and mixed media works of
art inspired by dynamic visuals, concepts, and character relationships

Artist journals are more than a sketchbook, a diary or a notebook
but a place where artists can play and explore ideas, themes and
media. Come and try out a variety of media and paper manipulating
techniques. Each week you will be introduced to new ideas and
techniques. Exercises will help you get your creative juices flowing.
We will paint, rub, stamp, print, collage, write and more. Once you
get started you will want to continue journaling even after the class is
over. Teens welcome. A $20. material fee to due instructor the first
day of class. Each participant should bring their own blank journal to
class. Recommended size is at least 9” x 12”, spiral bound.

8 Silkscreen & Relief Printmaking (Print Room)

In this class you will be introduced to silk screen and relief printing.
Learn techniques used for both fine artwork and for craft, such as
printing on fabric like t-shirts. Take your favorite photographs or
drawings and generate endless prints from a single work of art.
We will be creating screens using hand-drawn, photographic and
computer generated images. We will also cover linoleum and
wood relief printing; a great way to create your own greeting cards.
Whether a beginner, intermediate, or the rusty professional looking
to get back into printing this course will teach you a fun hands on
medium. Teens welcome.

Participants of this workshop,using the camera of thier choice,will
be asked to go into the street to capture images of ordinary people
using their body language to express thier feelings. Subject’s can

Create 2D and 3D animation and claymation using both handmade,
computer-generated art. Discover working models of ancient
animation devices such as Zoetrope (invented in 180 AD),
Praxinoscope and Zoopraxiscope and flip books. Animate any
drawing, sculpture, found object junk or photograph. Put everything
together to build our own movie. Explore classic and current
animation. This community-minded, student-led class is meant to
encourage and promote sharing of ideas and content to create
animations. This class is very experimental and creative. Bring
anything you are interested in to use for discussion; films, websites,

Enjoy the glories of nature. Randall will show the importance of having a plan when plein air painting. Students will learn
how to choose prime painting locations and improve plein air painting techniques. Instruction will include a combination
of demos, lectures and painting your own masterpieces. Students will be taught the importance of value, chroma and hue
within the landscape. Also, they will be given valuable color mixing techniques and recipes. This class is geared towards
techniques in oil and acrylic paints, but watercolor and pastel artists are welcome. It is suitable for all artists beginner to
advanced level.

This workshop-style weekly class will use painting projects to teach
oil painting techniques. The class will include useful handouts.
As the class progresses, students will delve into composition and
design, accurate drawing, value and light patterns, color mixing,

Taming the Wild Watercolor

watercolor’s unpredictable nature is what makes it so alluring to the
adventurous artist. This 4 week workshop is designed to alleviate
some of the frustration, helping to enjoy the creative process .

This 4-week crash course will deal with capturing the moods
and colors of the various seasons, using atmospheric and linear
perspective to add depth and realism to your landscape paintings.
Demonstrations will mostly be watercolor with some mixed media,
but all mediums welcome. Bring medium(s) of choice/supplies and
sketchbook to each class.

This opaque watercolor technique took hold in Europe in the 14th
century to depict landscapes with fine details. In modern times it is
used for posters, illustrations or comics. It differs from watercolor in
it’s ability to get full coverage. Read more online.
Jewelry Making with PMC Silver Lisa Bryan

In this 3-hour session you will learn to work with an exciting product
called Precious Metal Clay, or PMC Silver. You will be making
a pendant weaving, beads and earrings. PMC is easy to work
with, even for the beginner. Once the clay is fired at a specific
temperature, the clay component burns off and the result is a
99% fine silver piece of jewelry. The class will teach fundamental
techniques, firing and finishing techniques. You will be amazed
at what you can make yourself! The material fee is included in the
tuition.

permitted. All pieces must be labeled with forms provided.
•All off-site shows are members only.
•All work must have a price or be marked NFS (not for sale).
•Any artwork NOT picked up within 30 days after the ending
dates of an exhibition entered for jurying or accepted into
the gallery for display becomes property of CCAA.
