ella mia memoria, sono da sempre depositati i fantasmi della
inconfondibile identità della Venini.
Quando lavoro per questa nobile azienda cerco sempre di collegarmi
al mistero degli archetipi che hanno condotto a un così preciso stile,
lungo una così lunga storia, e cerco di provarne una interpretazione.
Mi sembra che il gusto Venini sia frutto di un magico dosaggio
creatosi nel tempo, fra alcune tecniche esclusive, alcuni eccezionali
artisti inventori di forme, e la scelta di certi colori.
Questa tradizione e questi confini sono la magica formula di Venini.
L'hortus conclusus Venini fa parte delle meraviglie dell'umanità.
Calma e saggezza di un chiaro artigianato, puro e intatto nel
tempo, incorruttibile dalla violenza delle mode, un esempio e una
testimonianza di perfezione.
he spirits of Venini’s unmistakable identity have always been
imprinted upon my memory.
When I work for this noble company, I always try to connect to the
mystery of archetypes that led to such a precise style with such a long
history, and I seek to interpret that. I believe that the Venini taste is
the fruit of an enchanted mix, created over time, of a few exclusive
techniques, a handful of exceptional artists who were inventors of
forms, and a predilection for certain colors.
This tradition and these boundaries are Venini’s magic formula.
Its hortus conclusus (enclosed garden) is one of humanity’s wonders.
It contains the calmness and skill of clear craftsmanship that has
remained pure and intact throughout time, incorruptible by the
violence of fashion, an example and proof of perfection.

E’ sicuramente l’invenzione più spettacolare mai
fatta. Quelle piccole fiaccole di luce contenute in un
sottile velo di vetro, ci hanno permesso con un semplice
tocco di uscire dall’oscurità, allungando le giornate,
illuminando le nostre case e le città, rendendo ogni
cosa più gradevole, tiepida, romantica, seducente... !
“Edi” è una collezione di luci pensate e disegnate
come vere e proprie lampadine. La sorgente luminosa,
che nella lampadina tradizionale era il filamento,
diviene un manufatto in vetro realizzato attraverso
la fusione di cannette policrome, in grado di dare toni
morbidi alla luce prodotta dal led.”

and this time Alberto Biagetti takes the place of
Thomas Alva Edison, giving us his own personal
interpretation of possibly the only object that has
truly given us happiness.
It is surely the most spectacular thing ever invented.
Those little flares of light, protected in a veil of glass
have allowed us, with a simple touch, to walk out of
darkness, making our days longer, illuminating our
houses and cities, giving a warmer, more romantic
and seductive glow to all things around us.

“Edi” is a collection of lights conceived and designed
as real light bulbs. The source of light, which in
traditional light bulbs used to be the filament, has
been turned into a unique glass artwork.
The fusion of polichrome canes, gives soft tones to the

La lavorazione a Balloton è una delle più affascinanti
dell’arte vetraria Muranese.
The Balloton process is one of the most fascinating
of the Murano glass art.
La parte più importante della lavorazione è la
pressione che il Maestro Vetrario dà al vetro caldo
non ancora sagomato, all’interno di un particolare
stampo in metallo massiccio, creando sulla superficie
esterna del vetro una grafica romboidale.
Le tipologie della collezione a Balloton sono le versioni
da tavolo, con o senza paralume, a sospensione e a
parete.
The most important part of the processing is the
pressure that the Glass Master sets on the hot,
unshaped glass, inside a specific solid metal mould
transforming the external surface of the glass in a
rhomboid pattern.
The Balloton collection’s range includes a table
version, with or without shade, a suspension and a
wall version.

Napoleone Martinuzzi (1892 - 1977) è stato uno
dei più importanti innovatori nell’arte vetraria di
Murano e direttore artistico della Venini dal 1925
al 1931.

Molte sono le nuove tecniche vetrarie applicate nelle
sue creazioni che comprendono sculture, lampade e
oggetti da collezione, che portano inequivocabilmente
il suo segno distintivo.
La collezione “Doge” , formata da lampade a
sospensione, lampade da tavolo e appliques è tratta
dall’Archivio storico Venini.
La tecnica vetraria usata è il “rigadin”, che consiste
nell’ottenere innumerevoli righe parallele, grazie ad
uno stampo che impronta la superficie.
Napoleone Martinuzzi (1892-1977) is considered
one of the most significant innovators in the Murano
glass art; art director at Venini 1925-1931.
Several new glass techniques were implemented in
his creations, which include sculptures, lamps and
collectible objects, all of which show his distinguished
and unique style.
The Doge collection, including suspensions, table
and wall lamps, is taken directly from the Venini
Archives.
The glass-working techniques, called ‘rigadin’,
consists in realizing an endless number of parallel
lines thanks to a mould that etches the surface of the
glass, shaping it.

“Formosa”, lampada a sospensione formata da
steli in vetro morbidamente ondulati con effetto di
preziosa frangia che partono da un piatto superiore
in metallo dorato.
Forme tonde in vetro colorato sono applicate alle
estremità inferiori degli steli, idealmente trasportano
la luce dall’alto verso il basso. Una sfera centrale
in vetro leggermente rosato racchiude la sorgente
luminosa .
“Formosa”, a suspended lamp made by several glass
rods, softly waved, to recall the effect of a precious
fringe. The rods are attached to an upper golden
round plate.
At the bottom of the waved rods some multicolored
glass disks bring the light down to the lower part of
the lamp. At the center, a light pink glass sphere
hides the light source.

“Esprit”, large lightened spheres made through the
assembling of glass flowers and stars connected to
a central chromed piece. A typical masterpiece of
the Venini production, made in different chromatic
solution, expands his collection with two new sizes.
The project make its versatility with solution which
are adaptable to any kind of interior.

profonda sull’uso delle tecniche del vetro. Questa collezione di eccezionali lampadari ed
applique, provenienti dall’Archivio storico di Venini,
è un chiaro esempio di questa attitudine dove Scarpa
mostra la sua magistrale capacità inventiva senza
tempo.
La dimensione e forma arrotondata dei lunghi e
leggeri bracci realizzati a mano focalizzano il suo
stile e la sua attenzione su due soli materiali: il vetro
ed il metallo.

All Carlo Scarpa’s design products are always
based on a blend of graphic synthesis and of deep
research in using art glass techniques.
This collection of outstanding chandeliers and wall
lamps, coming from the historical Venini Archives,
is a clear example of this attitude where he shows a
timeless masterly experience.
The size and rounded shape of the long hand-made
lightweight arms focus his style and attention on just
two materials: glass and metal.

“ “Altitude” è una coppia di alzate in vetro soffiato
di Murano.
Un po’ come le antiche alzate destinate a regalare
offerte agli dèi, la forma di queste coppe parte da un
gioco di contrasto creato tra la gamba potente, per le
sue proporzioni in altezza e di peso, e la leggerezza e
sottigliezza del vassoio.
Questo vassoio sembra quasi volare, ricordando i
sassi in equilibrio dei “Camini delle fate” in Turchia.
Ogni coppa, di altezza e di proporzione diversa, vive
molto bene indipendentemente, ma è interessante la
tensione che si crea quando sono vicine.
S’inizia un dialogo, una risonanza, una eco, sia
formale che cromatica.
Si creano delle sovrapposizioni, nuove sfumature di
colore e di trasparenza.
Il colore magnifico e potente, anche lui, è protagonista,
Come una goccia imprigionata nel vetro trasparente,
non si comprende se è la gamba che contamini il
piatto o viceversa.”

“ ‘Altitude’ is a set of two Murano blown-glass fruit
stands.
Similar to the ancient platters used for making
offers to the gods, the shape of these stands is based
on the contrast between the powerful base, with its
specific height and weight ratio, and the lightness and
thinness of the tray.
The tray appears almost to float, like the balancing
stones in Turkey’s Fairy Chimneys.
Every stand, with its different height and proportions,
stands out on its own, but when placed together with
the others there is a magic tension.
A sort of dialogue or resonance occurs, maybe an
echo, both in terms of formality and color.
Overlays, new shades of color and transparency are
suddenly created. Color, magnificent and powerful, is
likewise the protagonist. Like a drop imprisoned in
transparent glass, the mystery remains – is it the base
that affects the tray, or vice-versa?”

“ “Pistillo” è rivestito da una struttura in pelle; una
goccia d’acqua è come sospesa, stretta e trattenuta al
centro di un secondo guscio esterno in vetro.
Come un fiore ed il suo pistillo i due elementi in
vetro dialogano tra di loro, richiamano il tema della
riproduzione.
Il prezioso nucleo, protetto dalla sua guaina, sfida
giocosamente la gravità grazie alla sua posizione
nella rete.
La struttura reticolare in pelle deriva la sua forma
organica dai due elementi in vetro e li contrasta per il
suo aspetto grafico.”
“ “Pistillo” is clad in a leather structure; in its centre,
clasped and supported by the outer shell, it features
a second volume reminiscent of a levitating water
droplet. Like a flower and its pistil, the two glass
elements, dialoguing with each other, formally evoke
the theme of reproduction.
The precious core, guarded by its case, playfully
challenges gravity due to its position in the net.
The textile structure organically derives its shape
from the two glass bodies and, for its part, contrasts
them with its graphical character.”

interesse di Edward Barber e Jay Osgerby per la
progettazione navale e la passione per il colore.
“The “Port” vase epitomizes Edward Barber and
Jay Osgerby’s long-standing interest in nautical design
and fascination with colour.
La forma ricorda elementi nautici: boe galleggianti
o segnali luminosi che si vedono spesso nei canali
Veneziani. Il corpo principale del vaso utilizza il
riconoscibile color rosso Corallo di Venini.
The shape is reminiscent of boating apparatus; buoys
and fenders regularly seen around the waterways of
Venice. The main body of the vase utilises Venini’s
signature Coral red.
Il massiccio vetro opaco è soffiato in uno stampo che
determina un preciso angolo alla base, sospendendo
elegantemente la forma principale dal piano.
La geometrica coppa superiore, realizzata con
murrine Nere e Bianche, è ugualmente soffiata in
uno stampo. Questo vaso è contemporaneamente un
raffinato elemento scultoreo che ha anche un preciso e
pratico uso come vaso.”
The thick opaque glass is blown into a mould then
cut to a precise angle at the base lifting the soft domed
shape elegantly from the ground.

The angular top vessel is made from black and white
Murrine also blown into a mould. This vase is both
a beautiful stand alone sculpture but also has a
practical use as a vase.”

tutte le fasi della lavorazione.
Alcune sfumature o bollicine che si posso riscontrare sul vetro evidenziano che ogni
opera è realizzata a mano.

• A causa della specificità delle tecniche artistiche del vetro di Murano la ripetibilità
delle riproduzioni dei colori nel tempo e in diversi lotti di produzione non è garantita.
I colori possono avere delle variazioni.
• Le dimensioni e i pesi riportati sono indicativi, a causa dell’alta manualità e
artigianalità del processo, le dimensioni e il peso possono avere piccole variazioni

The uniqueness of VENINI’s production is given by handcraft procedures followed
during all working processes.
Some shades or bubbles, that might be found on the glass, underline that every
single piece is entirely handmade and even if similar to the others, each single piece
is unique.
