Barnabas Health Happenings...
Barnabas Health Hospitals Recognized for
Organ Donor Enrollment Achievements
Seven Barnabas Health facilities: Clara Maass Medical Center, Community
Medical Center, Jersey City Medical Center, Monmouth Medical Center,
Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center
and Saint Barnabas Medical Center, are among a select group of hospitals and
transplant centers nationwide recognized by the US Department of Health and
Human Services (HHS) for conducting activities that promoted enrollment in
state organ donor registries. The hospitals are part of the national Workplace
Partnership for Life Hospital Campaign, sponsored by HHS’s Health Resources and
Services Administration.
Barnabas Health’s awareness and registry campaigns educated staff, patients,
visitors, and community members on the critical need for organ, eye, and tissue
donors and thereby increased the number of potential donors on the state’s
donor registry. The hospitals earned points for each activity implemented during
Phase IV of the campaign, between August 1, 2014, and April 30, 2015, and
each were awarded bronze recognition by the Health Resources and Services
Administration.

Barnabas Health to Partner With National
Surgery Center Leader
Barnabas Health has finalized a partnership with AMSURG to offer patients
enhanced access to and best practices in outpatient surgery services. Through
the new partnership, called Jersey ASC Ventures, LLC, we will together acquire
and manage a number of freestanding ambulatory surgery centers in an effort to
smartly grow our network of outpatient care so we can provide more and easier
access points for care at convenient locations for the populations we serve.
“AMSURG is a nationally recognized leader in the development, management
and operation of outpatient surgery centers,” said Matthew Fulton, Senior Vice
President, Business Development, Barnabas Health. “Partnering with a company
of this caliber will help us meet the health care needs of the communities we
serve and take our outpatient surgery capabilities to the next level.”
The first ambulatory surgery centers we will co-own and manage with AMSURG
include the Ambulatory Surgery Center at Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care
Center, the Women’s Center Ambulatory Surgery Center at Saint Barnabas
Medical Center, and five AMSURG surgery centers in Florham Park, Hanover,
West Orange, Edison and Toms River.
