Honor. It’s not something our world talks about
very much, but it’s something our world
desperately needs, and it’s our theme for Youth
Winter Fest this year. January 9-11, 2015
hundreds of students from Long Island, New
York City, and the greater New York will be
gathering together for a weekend of fun,
friendship, and to explore this idea. I hope you
will join us. You don’t want to miss it!
Guest Band: Mitch Parks & The Fellows
A unique dynamic has been stirring in
the music scene of Atlanta, GA. The
professional territory lines that seem to
separate bands from working together
have all but vanished in a growing
circle of pros. It might seem strange
for a bunch of folks who already do
music for a living to want to lead
worship together "on the side."
However, The Fellows have come to
understand that worship is not about performing, and have joined forces to
lead people in genuine worship of The Father through music.
Mitch Parks is a music producer and songwriter from Atlanta, GA. He is best
known as the lead vocalist and bassist for the Grammy Nominated recording
artist After Edmund.
Daniel Bashta is an acclaimed songwriter and internationally known
recording artist. He is best known for songs such as "Let Hope In" and "Like
A Lion (God's Not Dead).”
Nathan Bedingfield is a session guitarist, touring musician, and has played
and sung on countless recordings and stages for artists such as Crowder,
Aaron Shust, Unhindered, and Jule Vera. Nathan currently tours with Mac
Powell (Third Day) playing guitar.
Zac Brooks is an Atlanta based songwriter, audio engineer, and session
drummer. Zac's resume includes work with such artist as Aaron Keys, Casey
Darnell, Aaron Shust, Jay and Abby Atkins, and The Museum. He currently
tours with the band Unhindered playing drums.
Ben Forehand is a session guitarist and touring musician. He's most
recognized for his work on recordings or sharing the stage with artists such
as Derek Trucks, Robert Randoph, Isreal Houghton, Zac Brown, Billy Ocean,
Free Chapel, and George Clinton. He currently tours with Niko Moon from the
ZZB family.
Featuring: Nubian Gents & Feminine Fire
In 1994 Lamont O’Neil received
the release to actualize a vision
which God had given him. The
vision became a reality in the
form of an extra-curricular
activity, namely the Jr. High
School 231 Step Team in
Queens, NY. Little did he know
that God had bigger plans. The
extra-curricular activity soon
turned into a ministry. But the changes from the Jr. High School 231
Step Team to the Nubian Gents & Feminine Fire Ministry was more
than a nominal one. As an organization and ministry they have
traveled around the world utilizing step, dancing, singing, and even
acting as vehicles to express worship to God. Their team is
captivated not by the religiosity of Christianity, but by its reality and
relevance to the world in which we live. They are warriors of praise
and leaders of worship, equipped by God with talents, skills, and
abilities which they use to glorify Him and advance His kingdom.
Guest Speaker: Lamont O’Neil
Not only is Lamont O’Neil the founder of Nubian
Gents & Feminine Fire, he is also a gifted
communicator and our guest speaker for Youth
Winter Fest this year. For over 20 years he has
used his creativity and the gifts God has given
him to address issues that teenagers deal with
such as self-esteem, identity, peer pressure,
bullying, etc. In a nutshell, he has been
inspiring students to discover and embrace
their identity and find their security in Jesus Christ, and to live
lives of honor. We are excited about the word he will bring us!
