will be having Rosary and Benediction on

Twenty-Ninth Sunday In Ordinary Time

Each time we recite the Creed together, we acknowledge what
we give our hearts to, that is, we express our faith. In the face of
difficulties, however, it is often easy to lose that “heart”. Today’s
readings offer us encouragement by providing examples of people of
faith who knew to turn to God, whatever the troubles they encountered.
Freshly bruised by the people’s angry complaints against him
about conditions, in the wilderness, Moses now faces Amalek’s attack.
Though some wonder whether the Lord is among them or not, Moses
places his trust firmly in the power of God and remains faithful to the
gracious God who saves Israel.
Paul, like any church leader, knows that pastoral work brings its
trials, both inside and outside the Church. Paul counsels Timothy to
remember what he has been taught, to root himself firmly in the witness
of his ancestors in the faith and in the holy Scriptures, and to be
persistent in his preaching, leaving the outcome to God. And the widow
featured in today’s gospel never gives up seeking what she is owed in
justice.
Through Jesus Christ, we know the God who made heaven and
earth, who loves and saves us. Therefore, we can remain faithful,
neither losing heart nor shirking our responsibilities towards others,
knowing that we have every reason to trust.
