our Annual Christmas Grand
Raffle, with the drawing to be
held Saturday, December 17.
There are five prizes!
The grand prize is $1,500; second and
third prize are $250. There will also
be a prize of $500 for the person
who sells the most tickets and a
$500 prize for the person who sells
the winning ticket.
Please return the ticket stubs
and payments to the parish rectory
or drop them in the collection bas‐
ket. All tickets should be returned
no later than Monday, December 5.

Ushers are
needed to assist at
the 8:30 am Sunday
masses. Ushers play
a vital role in ex‐
tending hospitality
to parishioners and
guests as they
gather for the mass.
In addition, their duties include
helping parishioners find seats,
taking up the collection, and as‐
sisting in the movement of the
congregation during distribution
of Holy Communion.
The ministry of usher is
open to all parishioners‐‐men and
women who are high school age
or older. Please contact the rec‐
tory to volunteer or for more in‐
formation.

MEMORIAL MASS FOR THE DECEASED /
MISA DE RECORDACIO´N PARA LOS DIFUNTOS
Our annual All Souls Day bilingual Memo‐
rial Mass, at which the names of our deceased
from the past year are read aloud and included in
the intentions, will be celebrated Wednesday,
November 2, at 7:00 pm.
If you would like to have the name of
someone who died in a previous year included as an in‐
tention at this mass, please stop at the rectory during
regular business hours. These names will be included in
a list on the altar, but the names will not be read aloud
at the mass. The suggested donation is $10 per name.

donde se leen los nombres de nuestros difuntos
del pasado año que también son incluidas en las in‐
tenciones, se celebrará el miércoles, 2 de noviem‐

PURGATORIAL SOCIETY / SOCIEDAD PURGATORIAL
If you wish to enroll a deceased loved one in
the weekly masses offered throughout the year for
the Purgatorial Society, please complete an All
Souls Day Remembrance envelope and place your
free‐will contribution inside. (Envelopes are avail‐
able at the doors of church.) Envelopes may be placed in
the regular collection or dropped off at the rectory.
Those enrolled in the Purgatorial Society are re‐
membered in the masses on All Souls’ Day and in a weekly
mass offered for the Purgatorial Society.
Si desea inscribir a un ser querido a una de nues‐
tras misas semanales para la Sociedad Purgatorial, se
les invita a llenar un sobre de Conmemoración del Día
de los Difuntos y depositarlo en la canasta junto con

SAY NO! TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE / DIGA NO A LA VIOLENCIA DOME´STICA
Community members are invited to
“Say ‘No!’ to Domestic Violence” at a special
event on Friday, October 21, from 3:30 pm‐6:00
pm. This event will include music, snacks, face
painting, and painting our fingernails purple to
symbolize our support of this important cause.
Please join us October 21 in the cafeteria of the
SMC Family Strengthening Center to educate our chil‐
dren and to show your support of the effort to end do‐
mestic violence. All are welcome! For more information,

UNDERSTANDING ANOINTING OF THE SICK /
LA COMPRENSIO´N DE LA UNCIO´N A LOS ENFERMOS
Some people have the misconcep‐
tion that the Anointing of the Sick is only
for someone who is near death. In fact, we
encourage you to take advantage of the op‐
portunity for this ritual if you are sick, prepar‐
ing for surgery, or living with chronic illness. Many find
great comfort in celebrating the sacrament before going
to the hospital or before surgery. We also celebrate a Com‐
munal Anointing of the Sick at a special mass each year.
Please do not wait until someone in your family
is critically ill or entering hospice care to arrange for this
sacramental anointing; instead please call while he or
she is able to experience this special sacrament. The rec‐

Algunas personas piensan que la unción de los
enfermos es sólo para alguien que está a punto
de morir, pero no es así. Por favor, aprovechen la
oportunidad de este ritual si usted está enfermo,
