NOT A FAN
•
Jan 11/12-Feb 15/16
•
Moving from being fans to followers of
Jesus
•
How your MSC can be involved
•
How small groups within your MSCs can
be formed
3 VITAL REASONS FOR MSCS
1. Community
2. On Mission with God
3. A place to belong before you believe
DIVIDE INTO THREE GROUPS:
WHY DO WE NEED A
DASHBOARD?
•
In your MSC, when did you feel excited?
•
In your MSC, when did you feel
discouraged?
IF YOU HAVE EVER SAT DOWN
WITH ANOTHER PERSON TO ASK,
“WHAT CAN WE DO TO MAKE
LIFE HERE BETTER?”
WHAT ARE VITAL BEHAVIOURS?
!
!
YOU MAY HAVE BEEN LOOKING
FOR VITAL BEHAVIOURS.
“IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO DO YOUR
BEST; YOU MUST KNOW WHAT
TO DO, AND THEN DO YOUR
BEST.”
!
- W. EDWARDS DEMING
OUR ABILITY TO NAME AND PRACTICE
VITAL BEHAVIORS IS ESSENTIAL TO
OUR CAPACITY TO REALIZE POSITIVE
CHANGE…
!
“BECAUSE TYPICALLY ONE OR TWO
VITAL BEHAVIOURS, WELL EXECUTED,
WILL YIELD A BIG DIFFERENCE. THIS IS
TRUE BECAUSE WITH ALMOST ANY
RESULT YOU ARE TRYING TO ACHIEVE,
THERE ARE MOMENTS OF
DISPROPORTIONATE INFLUENCE.”
!
- JOSEPH GRENNY
THERE ARE MOMENTS WHEN
PEOPLE CHOOSE TO DO
CERTAIN THINGS THAT SET IN
MOTION A CASCADE OF OTHER
BEHAVIOURS TOWARD THE
POSITIVE OUTCOMES THEY
DESIRE.
!
…..AND THESE BEHAVIOURS ARE
OFTEN EASILY SPOTTED
WHAT COULD BE AN EXAMPLE
OF A VITAL BEHAVIOR?
HOW DO YOU FIND VITAL
BEHAVIOURS?
•
Notice the obvious: Recognize behaviours that are
obvious (at least to experts), but underused.
•
Look for crucial moments: Find times when behavior
puts the success you want at risk.
•
Learn from ‘positive deviants’: Distinguish behaviours
that set apart positive deviants – those who live in the
same world but somehow produce different results.
•
Spot Culture Busters Find behaviours that reverse
stubborn cultural norms and taboos.
