FOREWARD
The aim and purpose of education is the overall development of
students. For the overall development of children, ample and appropriate
opportunities need to be provided to them to bring out and exhibit both the
cognitive and creative talents in children
Owing to the geographical barriers and consequent inherent
constraints, the students of our tiny islands have not been fortunate enough to
get the desired levels of opportunities to exhibit and enrich their creative and
artistic talents. In order to provide opportunities to our students at par with their
counterparts in other parts of our country, the department of Education, under
the benevolent patronage of our Hon’ble Administrator, started Lakshadweep
U T Level School Kalolsavam last year. Now this prestigious Kalolsavam enters
into its second year.
After having conducted the 1st UT Level School Kalolsavam at
Kavaratti under the watchful eyes of The Administration in 2011, The District
Panchayat and the Department Of Education entrusted the onerous
responsibility of organizing the 2nd U T Level School Kalolsavam 2012 to the Govt
School Complex Androth. With the blessings of the District Panchayat and the
Department of Education, we are fully committed to take all efforts and do
everything possible from our side to make this mega event at Androth a historic
one. In order to organize this prestigious and colourful School Kalolsavam in a
judicious, meticulous and systematic way, we hereby bring out a Booklet which
will be of immense use to all the concerned.
For the successful accomplishment of this grand venture,
wholehearted co-operation, help and assistance of Heads of the
departments/institutions, elected representatives, panchayath functionaries,
school management committee members, voluntary organizations and the
general public as well, is essential and inevitable. Let all of us join hands together
and make the 2nd Lakshadweep U T Level School Kalolsavam 2012 at Androth a
fabulous, marvelous and memorable one.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
1. UT Level School Kalolsavam is organized for the students of the Government Schools under
the Lakshadweep Administration.
2. The competitions will be conducted for the following categories only at UT Level

3. Programme Committee
The programme committee has the onerous responsibility of conducting the Kalolsavam
competitions without any flaw. The committee has to ensure that the following duties are
attended to in a meticulous and systematic manner well in advance.
(a) Prepare detailed programme for competitions in different venues
(b) Examine the lists coming from different islands and prepare the final list of
participants, category wise.
(c) Give necessary instructions to the team managers and the participants
(d) Give code numbers to the participants.
(e) Ensure the presence of the judges in the venues in time and provide required
facilities for the judges to evaluate the competitions.
(f) Ensure proper arrangement of light, sound etc at the venues before starting each
item

4. Records, Certificates & Trophy Committee
The committee has the responsibility to prepare the score sheets, consolidated sheets for
recording results and score boards required for each item and has also to make a record of
everything related with the competitions in the respective format. Prepare certificates to be
distributed to the participants immediately after each item.
The committee has to enter the details of the newly procured trophies in the Trophy
Register. Each day, the certificates have to be arranged according to the results provided by the
Programme Committee and distributed to the winners at the venues decided by the
programme committee.
Keep a register for getting the signature of the team manager as proof of having received
the Trophy. Make arrangement for giving away overall championships, their certificates and
special prizes at the valedictory function of the Kalolsavam.

5. Time Management Committee
Proper time management with respect to the entire items in the Kalolsavam shall be
looked in to by the committee. The committee has to ensure that each item is conducted as
per the time schedule in the programme and the participants adhere to the duration of items
as given in the manual.
In case any participant exceeds the time limit allotted for the item, it should be noted
down immediately and the same should be brought to the notice of the concerned officials
then and there in the manner as provided in the guidelines.

The committee is responsible for providing food to the students who come from other
islands and to provide refreshment to the teachers, guests, judges, officials, volunteers etc at

The accommodation committee, in co-ordination with the Registration Committee has to
arrange accommodation for the teams coming from other islands.

10.Reception, Invitation & Announcers
It has to prepare the list of persons to be invited, get the invitation letters printed, invite
the Guests required for the inaugural and valedictory functions and ensure that the functions
are conducted in an orderly manner. The Committee has to receive the guests coming from
the different islands. This committee will also make necessary announcements .

Light & Sound Committee
The committee has to make arrangement to ensure proper lighting in the venues,
pavilions, green rooms, dwelling places, mess halls and all the other centers associated with
the Kalolsavam throughout the event.
Ensure that there are sufficient plug points, leads and sound equipments in the venues.
Arrange to have a generator to be used in case the power fails.
Provide mike facilities for the Food committee, Transport committee, Registration
Committee and Publicity Committee. Arrange sound system in the venues without any room
for complaint.

12.Finance Committee
The Committee will deal with all financial matters in connection with the Kalolsavam and
thus will be responsible for all financial correspondence. The committee will work as the
financial supervisor for the organizing committee. They will also see to it that vouchers are
obtained immediately on completion of the Kalolsavam for the early settlement of accounts.

The committee has to make arrangements for transporting the teams coming from

There will be an Appeal Committee to hear complaints against the judgments of the U.T.
Level School Kalolsavam competitions and to take appropriate decisions thereon. The
Director of Education will constitute the Appeal committee with members who have proved
their mettle in the literary and artistic fields.
The appeal committee will examine the complaints scrupulously and take judicious
decisions and inform them to the persons concerned in writing. The decisions of the Appeal
Committee shall be final.
The Minutes of the Appeal committee will be recorded in a register which will be kept in
the Directorate of Education.
