Jersey
As well as being a picturesque island in
the heart of the Channel Islands, Jersey is
recognised as a world-leading financial centre.
With history at every turn, walkers will be
captivated by the unspoilt landscape and
families can relax on pristine beaches. Jersey
was originally under Norman rule; however, it
has been under English rule since the ascent
of William Duke of Normandy to the English
throne in 1066.
1 NOVEMBER. LIBOR NOVÁCEK AT THE JERSEY ARTS
CENTRE. Recognised for his interpretations of Liszt,
Brahms and Janácek, pianist Libor Novácek’s playing
has been compared with that of the great masters.
EVENTS
1 NOVEMBER. BLAKE AT FORT REGENT. Four young men renowned
for performing classical and pop songs in stunning vocal arrangements.
2 NOVEMBER. BALLADS, SONGS AND SNATCHES AT THE JERSEY
ARTS CENTRE. Presented by the Jersey Gilbert and Sullivan Society.
7 NOVEMBER-1 DECEMBER. JERSEY EISTEDDFOD.
Deutsche Bank Festival of the Performing Arts, various venues.
10 NOVEMBER AND 8 DECEMBER. VINTAGE FAIR, ST AUBIN.
Selling collectable items and unique gifts from the 1900s to the 1980s.
9-11 NOVEMBER. THE JERSEY EVENING PRESS HOME LIFE SHOW.
The consumer show at Fort Regent has over 110 exhibitors in the Queens
Hall and the Gloucester Hall.
21 NOVEMBER. MODERN HOTELS JERSEY HALF MARATHON.
A scenic one-lap course around the east of the island with stunning
views of the French coast.
1-16 DECEMBER. LA FÊTE DÉ NOUÉ. The island is ‘lit up’ with a full
programme of activities arranged to complement the lead up to the
festive period.
7 DECEMBER-6 JANUARY. ICE SKATE JERSEY 2012.

11-12 DECEMBER. SWAN LAKE AT THE JERSEY OPERA HOUSE.
THE ROYAL YACHT. The Royal Yacht is a modern, luxury
HOTEL hotel in St Helier. There are several bars, a spa, 'Spa Sirène',
a fully equipped gym and indoor heated swimming pool
plus three restaurants with alfresco dining and gourmet cuisine in the
brasserie Café Zephyr and fine-dining in the Restaurant Sirocco. Rooms

FEAST. Feast is situated on picturesque Gorey
Pier, right below the castle with perfect views
over the harbour. In winter it's a haven of
cosiness due to the roaring open fire. Favourite dishes include sticky ribs,
creamy fish pie, sizzling garlic prawns and rosemary and pepper crusted
sirloin steak.

MERCHANT HOUSE BRASSERIE. Set alongside the Jersey Museum, the
Merchant House Brasserie is an unpretentious restaurant that offers diners
traditional and robust British recipes in relaxed, modern surroundings.
