Historic family fun…… Historic exploration in a new way - A fun day for families… Only 30 minutes from down town Oslo You will find the Idyllic town of Drøbak with its Christmas house and Father Christmas Post Office. Just outside Drøbak, in the middle of the Oslo fjord is Oscarsborg Fortress. It’s time to explore the tunnels of the Fortress…. We will be guided through history of the island and end up at a local candle manufacturer where you may dip your own candle to keep. After the visit to Oscarsborg and the city center of Drøbak we will stop at the local museum where you can try excavation in sediments from medieval times. We will visit Drøbak and Oscarsborg. Duration: 6 hours. Tour Description: 09:00 Departure from Oslo. Ferry from Drøbak to Oscarsborg Fortress, about 10 minutes, where we will be met be a guide. Together we will do a historic walk through the fortress and its history. At the end of the tour we will stop and dip our own candle. Back in Drøbak lunch will be served at Kumlegaarden restaurant. After lunch we will suggest that you include some time to see the town. The “Christmas Town” of Drøbak. With its picturesque wooden houses, galleries, small shops and cozy cafes Drøbak is worth a visit. In Drøbak you can visit with Tregaardens Christmas House and Father Christmas' Post Office with its own special post stamp or include a visit to Drøbak Aquarium. Walking the streets of Drøbak, it is possible you will be one of the few who sees the Norwegian “Fjord-nisse”… At Follo Museum we will be met be an archeologist who will give us an introduction to excavation and we will try this in ourselves. Follo Museum has collected vast material from an archeological excavation in the area still containing thousands of objects from around year 1500 - 1600.
