Read, learn and play during International
Games Day @ your library
Riverside Regional Library joins thousands in
celebrating the popularity and power of games
and play.
We will join hundreds of libraries throughout the
country on November 21, 2015, for the eighth
annual celebration of gaming in libraries –
International Games Day @ your library.
Like so many other libraries across the country
and around the world, Riverside Regional
Library will offer special gaming programs and
events suitable for the whole family.
“Libraries are becoming family destinations,
and are continuously offering new formats and
innovative programs and services that educate,
entertain and expand interaction with their
users,” said Jeff Trinkle, Director, Riverside
Regional Library. “Gaming is yet another
example of how libraries are becoming more
than just educational resources for the
communities that they serve. They are also
places where users of all ages are welcome to
have fun together. And if that fun exercises their
brains, enables them to meet new people in a
safe and enjoyable environment, and celebrates
our community’s connection to each other and
to libraries on every continent on Earth... well,
that’s just the nature of games!”
Riverside Regional Library
cardholders can now download
three free songs per week

three songs a week directly to their computer.
The songs are MP3 files, so they can be
transferred to and played on iPods, Androids
and many other devices as well as smartphones.
Cardholders who need help or have any questions
may call the library at (573) 243-8141, or they
can visit their nearest branch for help.
International Games Day @ your library

Library and Information Association, and Nordic
Game Day.

D.A.R.T.
(Dog Assisted Reading Therapy)
This program is designed to improve a child's
reading and communication skills by employing
a powerful method: reading to a dog.
But not just any dog. D.A.R.T. dogs are
certified therapy animals who volunteer with
their owner/handlers as a team, going to schools,
and to your local libraries. Dogs can be great
listeners and their presence creates an inviting
and motivating environment: relaxed,
comfortable, safe, nonjudgmental, empowering,
and FUN!
We are taking names for open reading slots.
