ear Community Members,
The year 2010 was one of change and
challenge for both health care consumers and
providers. On the federal level, sweeping
reforms of our nation’s health care system were
signed into law, and here locally, innovations
and investments have been made by our
hospital to better meet the needs of everyone
who relies upon our services. With the promise of only more change and challenge in the
years to come, I can say that standing with our
healthcare team and loyal patient base, your
community hospital is well-positioned to continue to meet the needs of our patients and
their families.
On behalf of our employees, physicians and
board members, I am pleased to report that we
again have earned The Joint Commission’s
three-year accreditation “Gold Seal of
Approval,” which demonstrates our adherence
to national, state-of-the-art standards for health
care quality and safety in hospitals. This
achievement recognizes that each and every
day, our staff, physicians, nurses and volunteers
at Charlotte demonstrate their professional
dedication by using the very best practices to
uphold the commission’s stringent guidelines.
We have earned this distinction for the last
nine consecutive years due to the collective and
routine acts of discipline and compassion that
demonstrate the value we place on the patient
experience. It is this discipline and compassion
that makes Charlotte a better hospital and a
proud place to work.
On these pages, we tell you more about
this accomplishment and what we believe made
it possible. But at its center is a team of talented and highly trained practitioners and caregivers focused each day on treating you in the
best possible way, and by assuring their access
to the latest technology and treatment options
in order to accomplish that. We’re committed
to providing you with the care you need,
whether it is birth care, same-day and inpatient
surgery, emergency services, cancer care, or out-

Motivated by our gains in the last
year, and the desire to improve
upon our strengths, Charlotte is
focused on the following:
◆ Charlotte will provide
personalized attention from a wellfunctioning and compassionate
health care team who know you,
the community, and want to give
you great care and promote your
healthy living.
◆ Charlotte will provide many
equivalent procedures, technology
and expertise that large health
centers do, but at a convenient,
safe and comfortable location.
◆ Charlotte will have the partnerships necessary for highly specialized services in order to create
seamless treatment and rapid transfer so you get the care you need.
◆ Charlotte will have physicians
that are well-trained, well-respected,
have extensive experience, and are
committed to the community and
its people.
patient rehabilitation. We will always assist
you in getting the specialty services and expertise you may need, whether it is within our
expanded network or available nearby through
partnerships with others.
Looking back and looking forward, our
message remains simple:
One Thousand Caregivers
One Job
Your Health
That is the ideal we remain committed to.
We appreciate that you have choices when
seeking healthcare, and your confidence and
trust in our services and healthcare team is
never taken for granted. Our pledge is to
strengthen your faith in our healthcare system
with quality care and compassionate caring.
We owe it to ourselves and, most importantly,
to you, to do no less.
Respectfully,
Daniel J. McIntyre

and increased patient comfort and safety. In
addition to fast CT scans, CHH expects to
significantly increase its exam capacity – which means more
patients can receive the treatment they need faster and be referred
to surgery or released from the hospital.
