PASTOR’S MESSAGE
THE BIRTH OF OUR LORD IN US. CHRISTMAS 2015
Each year we remember with great joy and gratefulness the Birth of Our Messiah and Lord. His entrance into the world and into human history
changed everything forever. The immense love that God has for us is now made real and approachable as was the infant in the manger for
those first Shepherds and Kings. This incredible approachability of God in all Loving Mystery and Incomprehensibility is at the heart of the Feast
of the Nativity. God is not “up there” or “out there” but “down here” with us and “right here” in us. The emotional impact of visiting and
praying at the manger comes from the powerful truth that Emmanuel, God With Us, is really here!
Many of the great spiritual teachers in our Church’s history have invited us to understand that the mystery of the Nativity of the Lord is both an
historical fact and an ongoing and everyday miracle. The Lord Jesus seeks to be born each day in the depths of our souls in order to fill us with
His Presence. Like Mary we are challenged to say “Yes” and to surrender and make room for the Divine Presence. The Nativity of the Lord is
thus both past and present and future.
His Second Coming that we await even as we treasure the First Coming reminds us that salvation history is ever dynamic and liberating for
each of us, our Church and our world. Each Christmas is a powerful reminder that our gracious presence makes His Presence “Good News”
for the entire world to hear.
May we all enjoy a Blessed Christmas and Peace in our hearts, families and everywhere.
Amen, Alleluia
- Msgr. Michael D. McGraw

Journeying Forward
TO THE HEART OF OUR FUTURE
“
ST. JOAN OF ARC'S DEVOTED PARISHIONERS
What excites you the most about our Journey Forward plan?
The energy of the parishioners is what excites us most.
There is a genuine excitement to grow the parish.
...there are
always smiling
faces at St. Joan
to help remind us
of how blessed we
truly are.
How do you think our ministries will benefit from the new meeting spaces?
The ministries will have more space and availability to host more functions,
and more space to open their doors to a broader spectrum of people.
LIDIA AND WALLY LONGA
Members for 5 years. Involved in The Family Life Ministries.
The children have learned about giving back to their community
and how important being charitable of your time is,
i.e. LaBelle, Girl Scouts, Youth vs Hunger.
We found St. Joan of Arc after our school and parish closed.
St. Joan opened up their arms to us as if we had always been
members. We are also Hispanic and the fact that there is a large
Dialogue Ad.qxp_Layout 1 12/16/15 5:13 PM Page 1
Hispanic presence greatly attracted us.
ST. JOAN OF ARC CATHOLIC CHURCH
& TEMPLE BETH EL BOCA RATON
”
How do you think our events will be impacted by having a new
Mercy Center Hall and a Palm court area that ties in the Arena?
There are always new residents moving into the area, and people are usually more attracted
to new and beautiful things. Their immediate impression will be growth, a growing parish.
In the future when we have more space, what types of events would you like to see at St. Joan?
Events similar to the International Food Festival that bring people of all backgrounds together. It shows
our love of all ethnic backgrounds.
What do you feel is the most important benefit of being a member of the St. Joan of Arc Church community?
The positive energy you feel when you are around the parishioners and school. We all have complicated
lives, but there are always smiling faces at St. Joan to help remind us of how blessed we truly are.

FROM THE SJA CATHOLIC SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
St. Joan of Arc students experienced a whirlwind of a yuletide season! Middle school students diligently prepared for their December mid-term exams and
triumphantly made it through the rigorous testing. Our elementary and middle schools students learned from Dr. Brown, our new music director, their parts for
the Christmas Pageant. As guests entered the church, our immense band joyously greeted them on both sides, while playing Christmas songs. Our eighth grade “travelers” journeyed on an imaginary trip in the church by touring different areas around the world such as: Germany, South Africa, Hawaii,
France, Latin America, and of course Ireland, in honor of our Sisters of Mercy, before visiting Bethlehem and witnessing a live nativity! Students from all
grades proudly sang Christmas songs in different languages (“Mi burrito sabanero”, “Meli kalikimaka”...) and played instruments, including the African
drums, as they represented countries from around the world. St. Joan continued the tradition of having the 7th grade students sign language Silent Night. The
pageant culminated by singing “Joy to the World” that incorporates a unique surprise the student body looks forward to every year. If you wish to know the
grand finale, just ask one of our SJA students.
What to look forward to in 2016? Our around the world theme, in order to teach our students to be responsible global citizens, will permeate during Catholic
School Week in the beginning of February. Hence, all the classrooms will be transformed into the myriad of countries Pope Francis is visiting throughout the
school year. Students will travel from “country” to “country” and respond to educational questions on their “passport”. Subsequently, they will have the
opportunity to sample traditional foods and wear attire of their assigned classroom country.
Any other sneak previews for 2016? Miss Christian continues to ignite the students’ passion for science. Hopefully, you are observing our garden bloom. Did
you see our massive eggplants and hydroponic strawberries? Similarly, we are piloting our IntoScience online interactive program. Without a doubt, this
program has been a grand slam among our third through eighth grade students as they aim to complete their assigned “missions” and “activities” when
navigating tundras, oceans, jungles, caves, and outer space, as an avatar, in order to “unlock levels”. And last but not least, we are commencing a new club
among many other existing clubs..., a 3D Printer Club, in which some of our future engineers and doctors learn how to utilize CAD (Computer-aided Design).

4 Easy Steps
TO LEAVE A LEGACY FOR ST. JOAN OF ARC
STEP 1 Gather your information about your assets, including retirement
funds, bank accounts and real property.
STEP 2 Choose the type of bequest you’d like to make.
1. Unrestricted bequest. This is a donation to be used for St. Joan of Arc general funds.
This donation would be used where it is most needed.
2. Restricted bequest. This donation specifies how the money is to be used.
(This could be restricted to go into the endowment, a specific ministry, or the building fund.)
A bequest can be made in a number of ways:
• A specific dollar amount.
• Specific assets, such as securities, real estate, or tangible property.
• Retirement account assets, consisting of any benefits remaining in your retirement plan.
• A residuary bequest, St. Joan of Arc receives all or a percentage of your estate after all
other obligations are met.
• An existing will or trust can be easily amended to include a gift to St. Joan of Arc
without rewriting the entire document. Your attorney can prepare a simple document,
called a codicil, which adds a new bequest while reaffirming the terms of your will.
Similarly, an attorney can prepare an amendment to a revocable trust to add
St. Joan of Arc.
STEP 3 Meet with your estate planning attorney.
Would you like to donate
flowers to decorate the altar
on the weekend masses?
If you need to create a will or just update your existing document, you’ll want to
get advice from your estate planning attorney.
An attorney can advise you as to the best way to structure your will in order to take
care of your loved ones first and then your charitable interests while assuring the best
tax benefits.
As a charitable, not-for-profit all bequests to St. Joan of Arc are fully deductible for estate
tax purposes.
STEP 4 Contact us.
If you would like to donate flowers to decorate our altar, please call
Patty Delaney, (561)952-2868 or email her at [email protected]
(Flowers can be donated in memory of a loved one, birthdays or for any special occassion.)

MES DE DICIEMBRE
LA “PUERTA SANTA” EN NUESTRA CAPILLA
El Año Santo quiere mostrar también el
perdón y la reconciliación. “He sentido que
No
amor a Dios!»2
