DOG TRAINING CLASSES
The Marin Humane Society’s dog training classes are a great
place for people and dogs to learn a common language,
and for dogs to learn the house rules. Our instructors use
positive reinforcement to solve behavior problems and to
teach your dog to walk on a leash without pulling, sit or lie
down quietly, come when called, and to wait at doors. Our
beginning classes are a great bonding experience--even
very experienced guardians find them valuable. Please note
that our beginning-level classes are conducted entirely
on leash and do not include playtime, as our focus is on
strengthening the relationship between you and your dog.

OUR MISSION:
To be an after school program that implements
genuine care, respect, and courtesy for children,
parents, and each other. To be the premiere
provider of child care, while meeting the needs of
the children, parents, schools, and communities we
serve. To enhance and enrich the lives of children as
they become young adults, while working as a team
toward common goals.
If you are a parent, read this:
The years between 5 and 13 represent a time of
great growth and opportunity for children, as well
as of considerable vulnerability and risk. After the
school bell rings and before parents are home from
their workday, children need programs that provide
enrichment opportunities and minimize their
exposure to risk. Kids Club After School Program
helps to minimize exposure to risk and gives children
a fun, safe place to grow.

I hope that my achievements in life shall be these– that I have

who were in need, that I will have left the earth a better place for
what I’ve done and who I’ve been.

PARKS RECREATION
BENEFITS TO INDIVIDUALS
Parks offer opportunities to enrich the
quality of life for persons of all ages and
abilities. Strong evidence shows that when
people have access to parks, they exercise
more. Regular physical activity has been
shown to increase health and reduce the
risk of a wide range of diseases, including
heart disease, hypertension, colon cancer,
and diabetes. Physical activity also relieves
symptoms of depression and anxiety,
improves mood, and enhances psychological
well-being. Beyond the benefits of exercise,
a growing body of research shows that
contact with the natural world improves
physical and psychological health. Older
adults who participate in a variety of social
and recreational opportunities benefit from
the social connections and interactions that
are fundamental to their well-being.

KIDS CAPOEIRA
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian
martial art form that
incorporates acrobatics,
dance, percussion, and songs
in a rhythmic dialogue of
body, mind, and spirit. It is a
communal game in which two
opponents play each other inside a circle, formed by the other
players who create rhythm for the game by clapping, singing
and playing traditional instruments. The two “capoeiristas”
play a game together using capoeira movements, camouflaging
self-defense kicks with playful acrobatics and dance-like moves,
spontaneously creating a strategy to fool the other player and
perhaps catch them off guard. At the same time, the two players
work together to build a beautiful, harmonic and naturally-flowing
game. For videos and photos, please go to www.abada.org
