An important part of healing
for many men begins with a
repentance of their role in the
abortion and the failure to protect mother and baby
from harm. Let us help you find healing and hope.

Interested in Coming Home?
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a vital part of
our parish's mission to share the Good News of Jesus Christ
and His Church with others. RCIA is an ongoing process of
deepening conversion and preparation for the Sacraments of
Initiation. Currently, we have a year round RCIA meeting,
which allows people to be able to start at any time to respond
to the Holy Spirit moving in their life to inquire about the
Catholic Church. This is an exciting time in anyone's faith life...
coming home. Have you been hearing the nudge from within to
find out more about what all this Catholic stuff is about, or the
nudge to be confirmed? Please join us! We currently meet
Thursday evenings in the school in room 206.

The following is a reflection from May
Garcia, our retiring Business Manager, on
just a few of the wonderful memories of
her 39 years at Immaculate Conception.
Part II - The next 10 years (1985-1994) A time of birth and new life
www.iccdenton.org

June 8, 2014
Within a few years our 425 seat church on Elm Street was
bursting at the seams as was our parish center that was
intended to house our formation ministry, nursery, youth
social activities, and serve as a gathering space. As a
result, ground was broken in 1988 on 10 acres off of
Teasley Lane for a multi-purpose building for ICC. (This
location would eventually house a newly created parish
named St. Mark). The Teasley Lane multi-purpose
building was completed and the first Mass and blessing
took place on New Year’s Eve in 1991.
Father Gene Sweeney, who had served as associate
pastor at Immaculate Conception, became the first pastor
of St. Mark. To me and to all of us on the building
committee it felt as though that time was a journey of
birth, new life, and then, as in raising and nourishing a
child, sending that child off on his own when the seeds
had been planted and the knowledge shared. After the
parish was named we sent it off on its own to make its
own future. At present, St. Mark is a vibrant parish
looking forward to yet another site with new and larger
facilities to enable the community to bring Christ to the
people of God. All things are possible with God.
During this same time frame we were building an addition
to the Elm Street parish center and adding a large gym
and many classrooms to the site.
Every process, every meeting, every penny raised, and
every discussion that brought us to this place was my
classroom those years. What an honor to be part of the
sharing of wisdom of so many people on committees and
on the parish staff. What a joy to witness the excitement
of prospective school parents as they planned and worked
hard to establish a Catholic School for their children and
for the children of families to come. Bringing the physical
space to reality allowed for the reality of a spiritual space
for the Holy Spirit to work in the lives of our teachers and
children and to bring our Catholic Faith alive in a new way
to Denton.
“Our God has not abandoned us, thus he
has given us new life to raise again the
house of our God and restore its ruins.”
Ezra 10:9
parroquia llamada San Marcos).

a encontrar sanación y esperanza.

This weekend we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost and the
coming of the Holy Spirit among the believers of the early
Church. Saint Paul reminds us of the special power the Holy
Spirit has bestowed upon us and how that power gives us the
potenal to live extraordinary lives of faith. Good stewards
recognize this power and use their gi#s, through God’s
channel of grace, to transform their lives and the lives of
others, and thus hasten God’s Kingdom. Good stewards know
that it is through the Holy Spirit that they can proclaim: “Jesus
is Lord.”
