was founded in 1958 and now has more than
forty franchise locations.
Westman has been with Verlo
Mattress since 1985, and purchased his
first Verlo store in 1994. He now owns three
showrooms, and a production facility in
McHenry.
In a time when mattresses are sold at
big box and discount stores, in addition to
mattress retailers, Westman is proud to offer
something more than the typical cookiecutter approach. “Your body, your comfort
needs and sleep habits all influence the kind
of sleep set we build for you,” he said.

Chambers have a very necessary role
in a community that can be undervalued
but not duplicated. First and foremost,
chambers are incubators of small
businesses. Chambers take into the fold
a new business start-up and connect that
organization with those important to
the business’s growth. Small businesses
become large businesses, pay taxes and
employ local people. Is that important to
a community – you bet!. We at McHenry
Area Chamber are experienced professionals dedicated to growing
new and expanding businesses. We are good at this! Another
value added by chambers is that we showcase a community and
its businesses through events and activities increasing the value of
residing in an area plus supporting local business growth through
connecting businesses with the community. We at McHenry
Area Chamber produce many target marketed events such as
Fiesta Days, EXPOS and Scrambles. Our members gain through
connecting with the community and other businesses and residents
gain by having a fun filled event to be proud of. Third, not often
thought about is that chamber staff through their dedication to

a career in wellness and completed a
program with high honors in health
and wellness promotion at CLC.
This program taught Kimberly
more about using massage and other
wellness modalities to treat illness.
Pairing her education with her past business experience,
Kimberly opened up Journeys Healing and Wellness Center in Lakemoor on Route 120. The center offers the same
modalities that helped bring her to remission from Lyme
Disease, such as massage, an infrared sauna, an amethyst
crystal biomat, personal training, yoga and wellness coaching. While Lyme Disease continues to be a part of her life,
her new journey is to provide the community with the
knowledge and complementary services to heal from what
ails them and put them on a path to wellness.

hospital for life saving measures! Kimberly Heeres-Frank
of Ingleside, IL doesn’t need to imagine this experience
because she lived it. It was in the hospital that she finally
got a positive test for Lyme Disease (after 6 previous negatives), marking the beginning of her journey, not the end.
The suffering continued with years of antibiotics (delivered
intravenous and oral), diet changes, and supplements, all
putting her on a path to seek non-traditional forms of

Best Thanksgiving Recipes & Traditions by Chamber Ambassadors
Baked Salmon with Tangerine Balsamic Sauce
Submitted by Wayne Seely, Visual Horizons,Inc.
6 5-ounce salmon fillets
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon white wine
1 tablespoon honey
1/3 tsp balsamic vinegar
4 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1/4 cup juice from tangerines
Salt & pepper to taste
1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees; line a baking sheet with
aluminum foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray. Coat a
small saucepan with nonstick cooking spray, add the garlic over
medium heat, cook and stir garlic until soft, about 3 minutes. Mix
in white wine, honey, balsamic vinegar, mustard, tangerine juice
and salt and pepper. Simmer uncovered for about 3 minutes or
until slightly thickened. Arrange salmon on baking sheet. Brush
fillets with balsamic glaze and sprinkle with oregano.
Sautéed Brussels Sprouts

4 cups Brussels sprouts sliced in food processor
Tablespoon butter
4 slices of bacon- sliced
1/2 cup small diced onion
1/2 lemon
Parsley
Optional - dried cranberries
Melt butter in large sauté pan, add bacon, cook 8 minutes
on med heat. Then add onions cook 5 more minutes. Then
add sliced Brussels sprouts and salt- sauté until just tender (5
minutes). Before serving add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and
a small handful of chopped parsley! Optional top with dried
cranberries. Don't overlook! People don't like BS because it smells
when it's cooked too long. Serves 8-10.
Thanksgiving Tradition & Meal

Our Thanksgiving tradition is to have our sons, daughter in
laws, and grand children and mother over. We also invite a few
people who have no place else to go for dinner. I get the guest
list from the family and then I begin making calls. This could
be friends whose family is out of state or they may be planning
on staying home due to financial difficulties or our children’s in
laws and their families want to spend it together as a family and
extended family. The more the merrier.
Our dinner consists of a 25 pound Turkey stuffed, Spiral
Honey Baked ham, Lasagna, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes,
( all made by me) vegetable dishes like asperagras , corn, green
bean almondine, homemade buns, cranberries, olives and salad.
Dessert is an apple pie, cherry pie, sweet potato and pumpkin
pie….. served with whipped cream or ice cream.
The turkey is stuffed with croutons, celery, chicken livers,
chicken necks, chicken hearts, onions, oysters, all sauteed in
butter. When stuffing the turkey, plenty of unsalted butter is put
inside the turkey then stuffing goes in next. An oven bag is used to
put the turkey inside and more butter is used to keep the turkey
moist. The sweet potatoes are cut into large cubes, adding marsh

mellows, and brown sugar and baked.
Green Bean Deluxe

2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons sugar
1/4 Cup finely chopped onions
1 pint sour cream
1 8oz package of swiss cheese grated
2- 1 pound packages of french style green beans
2 cups corn flakes crushed and browned in 1 teaspoon butter
Combine melted butter and onion. Stir for about two minutes.
Then add flour, sugar and salt. Remove from heat. Cook green
beans let cool for about 1/2 hour then add to onion mixture. Add
cheese and sour cream. Pour into 9x13 casserole dish. Top with
crushed corn flakes. Bake 350 for 25 minutes. Makes 6-8 servings
Here is our Thanksgiving weekend tradition. Every Black
Friday our family as well as our extended family ( Sisters, Brothers,
Grandparents, Children etc ) go to Richardson's Farm and cut
down our Christmas Tree. We then all go out afterwards. If it's
cold we pick the first tree we see after the tractor drops us off. On
the years it's a little warmer we usually have a nicer tree. :)
My favorite recipe: Thanksgiving Family

thanks.
Take all the family members who are present and join together
at the table. Give thanks for all the family brothers who are not
present either because there's someplace else in this world or have
gone on to the next. Toss in some wonderful stories, mix that with
a dash of love and laughter. In a moment of Thanksgiving to our
Creator abov Mix well and serve at 98.6°F.
My favorite tradition growing up was Thanksgiving day
hunting. We would wake up every Thanksgiving day early in
the morning and be the first ones out to the blind on the South
Platte River. We would return home late morning to the smell of
cooking turkeys and throughout the day all of the family members
would be pulling up the driveway in joining us. Today, because of
our family being grown and spread all across the country, we do
something different every year.

Born on the Banks of the Fox…
McHenry Musings by Bill Bolger
There are so many wonderful
things in McHenry that I hardly
know where to start.
I'll begin with the way McHenry
celebrates the second Sunday in
August. A day that Congress has
named to dedicate and celebrate
"Keep Alive the Spirit of '45". A
time to relax and enjoy peace in the
world with the ending of World War
II.
Here in McHenry, Ron Bykowski
does a magnificent job of recognizing and celebrating this day at
McHenry's Pearl Street Veterans
Memorial Park. Many of us believe
that this celebration is the finest
recognition of this day of any city in
the United States.
As I mentioned in the start of
this story, there are so many things
to enjoy - the Thursday evening
summer band concerts in the park
- Fiesta Days - boating on our river
and Parks and Recreation activities
to name a few. How about those
beautiful hanging baskets of flowers
in every business district.
Moving on to establish a Public
Library in McHenry - in the 1940's,
efforts were made to have a lending
library, first at the Green Street City
Hall and for a time, space in the
High School was used for a lending
library.
In the 1950's, the Tesch house
at the corner of Main and Green
Streets was purchased for a city
library but it was only open for a
few hours on Wednesday and Friday
afternoons. In the late 1950's the
library hired a full time librarian for
$1.00 per hour. The library became
so busy that it was soon necessary
to build an addition to the library.
The cost was $10,000 and our local
Rotarians raised that amount in one
weeks time and give it to the library
board to finance the addition.
After a while, the McHenry
Library became a District Library
and is now located at 809 N. Front
Street becoming one of the finest
libraries in Illinois.
Now I want to go back a bit

R. Walsh, who served as McHenry
City Clerk for 35 years and never
missed a City Council Meeting.
Earl Walsh was also the sports editor
for the weekly publication of the
McHenry Plaindealer. He also had
a very popular column "So I Hear".
Because of Earl, this newspaper became so popular that people would
wait in line to buy the Plaindealer
on Thursday of every week when the
paper went on sale.

The Riverwalk Foundation is the 501C-3 fundraising
arm of McHenry’s Riverwalk. This organization seeks to gain
necessary monies to engineer, landscape and build the Riverwalk. In addition, the foundation serves as an advisory group

On August 18, 2014 the McHenry City Council adopted a Comprehensive Strategic Plan. The purpose of the
Plan is to affirm the mission and vision of the City; identify
expectations of the City’s customers (citizens, businesses,
visitors, employees); define the current state of the City
as an organization and internal and external factors that
impact or could affect the City.
Customer Service and Business Friendly
Philosophy
The City of McHenry is committed to providing quality customer service and timely responses to inquiries and
requests for service to its residents and businesses through
each and every department within the City. The Community and Economic Development Department is the first
point of contact with potential businesses, developers, citizens and elected officials regarding service inquiries, development projects and potential new business opportunities.
The department is responsible for improving the quality of
life for the residents of the community and assist in attracting, retaining and serving businesses.
Business to Locate to McHenry
• Underutilized Property Tax Abatement And Incentive Program - On March 17, 2014 the McHenry City
Council approved an Addendum to the City’s Economic
Development Strategy creating the Underutilized Property Tax Abatement and Incentive Program. The purpose
of the program is to encourage reinvestment in existing
improved vacant or underutilized properties through
a property tax abatement program instituted through
multiple taxing bodies. Over time assessed valuations
of vacant or underutilized properties decrease or remain
stagnant hindering tax growth for all applicable governmental bodies, and the intent of this program through
intergovernmental cooperation is to abate some portion
of property tax increase over some agreed-upon time
period following property redevelopment and/or reoc20 McHenry Area Community Guide

cupation of a previously-vacant building. City sales tax
rebates can also be utilized in conjunction with property
tax abatement.
A goal of this program is to to effectively market specific
properties to potential investors, developers and/or businesses, which at one time contained sales and/property
tax producing businesses, were home to job-generating
companies but due to various circumstances have since
been vacated, become obsolete due to the size of the land
building or a combination thereof.
• West Illinois Route 120 Corridor Enhancement Initiative - This is another proactive measure taken by the City
Council to spur economic investment and reinvestment,
encourage new businesses to locate along the West Illinois
Route 120 Corridor and maintain and promote expansion of existing businesses. Owners of property along
West Route 120 between Meadow Lane and Ringwood
Road are eligible to participate in the Enhancement
Program. Those businesses who are tenants of commercial buildings in this same area are eligible if the building
owner’s consent is provided in writing.
Types of financial assistance extended by the City may
but not limited to include sales tax rebate, property tax
abatement (City portion only) and waiver of permit and
capital development fees. Accelerated sales tax rebates for
“priority projects” may be considered. The accelerated
rebate would entice a large investment that may produce
potential large sales tax revenues and reflect a willingness
to attract and encourage large economic investment by
allowing more rapid incentive recovery.
• Downtown Revitalization - In 2002, the City established
a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District encompassing
the Riverside Drive and Green Street downtown areas.
The purpose of this TIF District is to foster redevelopment and investment in the downtown area.
Property taxes were frozen in 2002, within this designated
area, and any increase in property taxes, over the life of
the TIF District, assists with financing public improvements in the TIF District. The TIF District will expire in
2025.
In conjunction with the establishment of the TIF District, in 2003 the City adopted a Downtown Plan to
promote redevelopment and investment.
McHenry's commitment to its downtown has already resulted in multiple redevelopment projects within the TIF
District, as well as the construction of the first of multiple
phases of the McHenry Riverwalk east of Green Street,
which includes a pedestrian bridge over Boone Lagoon to

Riverside Drive.
• Revolving Loan Fund Program - Revolving Loan Program
can be used to assist, in the form of a low interest loan,
businesses within the City of McHenry. The funds can
be used for start-up costs, expansion or updating a business. There is a formal application process, and detailed
financial information is required. Principal objectives of
the program are business creation, expansion, additional
job creation and new tax generation. After a loan is issued and once the principal and interest are repaid to the
City the funds are filtered back into the program and be
utilized for future revolving loan fund requests.
• Facade Improvement Grant Program - The purpose of
the Facade Improvement Grant Program is to reimburse
a portion of the cost to a commercial business to improve
their facade. The building must be commercial and must
be a minimum of 50 years in age. All materials used
should be sensitive and appropriate and reflect the original design of the building. The following type of work
is considered appropriate to apply for funding under this
grant program: painting, tuckpointing, cleaning, remodeling, restoration or rehabilitation to the front façade or a
side or rear facing a major street or public access. Awnings and signage may qualify if they reflect the original
design or building period. This program has a formal application process with additional submittal requirements
and is reviewed by the Landmark Commission which
makes a recommendation to the City Council. This is
also a reimbursement program.

2. Let proposed 18,000 square foot recreation center, which
will be located immediately west of the Municipal Center.
This is the first phase of a multi-phase campus recreation
project which will ultimately include an aquatic center, as
well as other enhancements and connections to integrate
into Knox Park and existing Municipal Center
3. Continued pursuit of receiving approval from the Army
Corps of Engineers to install a public boat launch at Miller
Riverfront Park
4. Following consideration of a market study funded by
the McHenry Riverwalk Foundation and a presentation on
the results of the study the City Council approved a real
estate agreement for the marketing of Miller Point, located
at the terminus of Riverside Drive and Boone Lagoon/
Fox River. It’s the City’s goal to
have the property privately redeveloped, placed back on the tax
role and become a destination to
attract residents and visitors alike
to downtown McHenry
5. Working in conjunction with
the McHenry Riverwalk Foundation, which funded the extension
of the McHenry Riverwalk on the west bank of the Fox
River and east of Riverside Drive, the City installed day
piers to facilitate boaters to dock and patronize downtown
businesses and enjoy the McHenry Riverwalk
6. Pursue extension of McHenry Riverwalk west of Green
Street, including installation of a section of the historic
Pearl Street bridge over Boone Lagoon for pedestrian access
and to facilitate a physical connection from Green Street
and Riverside Drive to Main Street in an effort to link
McHenry’s three unique downtown areas
7. Pursue extension of McHenry Riverwalk north of Route
120 to Weber’s Park
8. Intersection improvements at Illinois Route 120 (Elm
Street) and Illinois Route 31 (Richmond Road) will be
completed
9. Work with the Historic Petersen Farm Foundation in
pursuing the restoration of the Historic Petersen Farm and
farmhouse on McCullom Lake Road
10. Provide additional assistance to downtown/small businesses and compile list of resources for the same. Work
cooperatively with key property owners and McHenry Area
Chamber of Commerce, downtown business owners and
other organizations and parties in seeking additional ways
to revitalize downtown, working more closely with businesses with the goal being to attract additional investment
in the downtown area, retain existing businesses, promote
investment in older properties and assist smaller businesses
struggling to keep doors open
11. Construction of Knox Drive Extension from Municipal Drive to Charles Miller Road and the Charles Miller/
Bull Valley Road/ Route 31 intersection improvements are
scheduled to be let and construction commence shortly
thereafter
12. Completion of upgrades/renovations to Fort McHenry
to as well as completion of the installation of the new City
of McHenry community sign
13. Anticipated letting of work to decommission the Central Wastewater Treatment Plan, projected to be 2-3 year
project, after which redevelopment of the downtown site
can be pursued in earnest.

After 54 years of marriage, Mario and Joan Arcari are affectionate, at ease and
just a little teasing with each other. Mario takes a seat on a padded chair across
from the fireplace, and puts his feet up on the matching ottoman in their Johnsburg
home designed by student architects at Taliesin, the Frank Lloyd Wright School of
Architecture in Spring Green, Wis. Joan sits on the sofa adjacent to her husband. As
soon as Mario is comfortable, his ‘Buddy,’ Oliver, an 11-year-old Yorkie, curls up on
Mario’s legs and appears to fall asleep.
A pristine view of the setting sun gleaming across the lake out the picture window
completes the scene as the Arcari’s reflect back, with knowing smiles, on the travels
and adventures that have brought them to this time and place. Today, that journey
includes their most recent project – the remodeling and complete rejuvenation of the
long-standing hotel where Chapel Hill Road crosses the Fox River – The Waterfront

Mario: I would say I’m the true American
immigrant. I came to this country (from
Scotland) with $20 in my pocket.
Joan: I was born in Chicago and raised in
Wriggleyville. We met as members of the
Russell Wood music-theater workshop. We
performed shows, such as “Pajama Game,”
“Wonderful Town” … and review shows.
Mario: We both love the arts. I toured the
United States with the Ralph Flanagan Orchestra as a male band singer. I sang with
Anita Bryant and George Liberace – the
other Liberace’s brother. That was after I
got out of the Army.
Joan worked at Decca Records …
Joan: … and radio and TV stations –
WAIT, WTTW, WGN. I didn’t want a
routine job.
Once, before I married, Mario, Andy
Williams came in

1956) promoting his Canadian
Sunset single. He
asked me out to
dinner. We went
to the Blue Note.

was playing.
Mario: Later, I opened a recording
studio – produced some records,
wrote some songs. I sang
with Allan Stevens. We
were called Arcari and
Stevens. He died a few
years ago.
Joan: Roy Leonard was
playing their songs on the
radio, songs like “I need
your love.”

is my latest adventure. We opened
a couple months
ago. Now, I’m
working on the bar

I have always loved McHenry. As a lifelong resident I
have watched it grow dramatically in population over the
years, but it still feels like my hometown. The spirit of volunteerism in

Plans For
The Future
Over the last year, the Village of
Lakemoor has worked aggressively
to implement the principals, policies and implementation strategies of
its recently adopted comprehensive
plan. Listed below are some of the key
achievements that have been accomplished over the last year.
Economic Development - One of
the strengths of the Village’s Comprehensive Plan is that it takes a realistic
approach to economic development
by establishing three primary commercial nodes to accommodate market
demand and to sustain public services.
To the east, at Routes 12 and 120
is the Village’s regional commercial
center, to the west at Route 120 and
Chapel Hill Road is a neighborhood/
local commercial center, and at the
heart of the community along Route
120 and across from Lily Lake is the
future town center.
These three commercial nodes are
intended to work in synergy with each
other rather than in competition by
focusing on different market niches
and styles of development. This new
and more sensible strategy to growth
is intended to maximize the Village’s
tax base, promote more open space
and recreational opportunities, allow
a greater diversity of non-commercial
land uses, and preserve environmentally sensitive areas within town.
To spur economic development, the
Village is focusing much of its attention on the Route 12 and 120 cor28 McHenry Area Community Guide
ridor. The development of this area is
vital and necessary to bring the basic
amenities, conveniences, and goods to
both the residents of Lakemoor and
the region. Past efforts to develop this
corridor have been challenging due
to a lack of public infrastructure. To
address this issue, the Village Board
will consider the adoption of two Tax
Increment Financing Districts (TIF).
The north TIF would encompass those
properties north of Route 120 and
east of Route 12 and would focus on
business retention and expansion. The
south TIF, which includes those undeveloped properties south of Route 120
and west of Route 12, would focus on
business attraction and development.
A meeting of the Joint Review Board
is scheduled later this year and Village Board consideration is anticipated
sometime in early 2015.
Town Center - The Village’s Comprehensive Plan also establishes a
new “Town Center”. Historically the
geographic center of the community, Lakemoor’s future town center
is positioned to strengthen its role as
the center of activity and entertainment. With nearly half of the Village’s
population within walking distance,
the town center represents an exciting
opportunity to create a special place
for commercial growth, housing, civic
events, recreation, and resident interaction. During the comprehensive
planning process, residents conveyed
a desire to see this area revitalized

and transformed into an active and
walkable center with mixed use style
development and prominent focal
nodes that promote civic events and
community pride. Such a transformation would not only create a new and
vibrant sense of place, but it would
also redefine and change Lakemoor’s
image as well as enhance the experience of travelers as they pass through
town on Route 120. To implement
this vision, the Village has applied
for assistance through CMAP’s LTA
program for the development of a subplan to the comprehensive plan. The
Village expects the planning process to
begin sometime in early 2015.
Transportation - The Village has
also been actively working to address
local and regional transportation
issues. One of the Village’s transportation goals is to create a system
in which residents are able to drive,
walk, or bike safely and conveniently
throughout the Village for daily needs
and activities. To begin addressing
this issue, the Village has obtained
an ITEP Grant through the Illinois
Department of Transportation in the
amount of $264,000 to construct a
2 mile bike path. This path would
connect existing residential neighborhoods, provide access to commercial
businesses, incorporate new pedestrian
signalization at Route 120 and Darrell
Road, and extend to the existing trails
that are located at the Moraine Hills
State Park. This path will ultimately

Ireland – The Emerald Isle
As they say in Ireland - Welcome - A hundred thousand welcomes “Céad Míle Fáilte”
Ireland received it’s “nickname” The Emerald Isle due
to it very lush beautiful green countryside. Come with
me on a journey through just some of what Ireland has to
offer!
Dublin is the capital of Ireland. A visit to Dublin,
includes a wealth of attractions such as Trinity Col-
Ashford Castle
lege, which includes the Book of Kells, the most richly
decorated of Ireland’s medieval illuminated manuscripts.
Christ Church Cathedral which was originally constructed out of wood in 1038, was first rebuilt in 1186,
completely remodeled in the 1870’s and then restored in
2000, this is an amazing Cathedral to visit while in Dublin. St Stephen’s Green, landscaped with flowerbeds, trees,
a fountain and a lake. Along with countless museums
and library’s Dublin is also home to the, Old Jameson’s
Distillery and the Guinness Storehouse. The Guinness
Storehouse, now completely remodeled, the first impression a visitor has is walking into a large “glass pint” with
light spilling down from above and a copy of the original
lease signed by Arthur Guinness enshrined on the floor.
Throughout your tour you would touch, smell and feel
the ingredients used through interactive displays. One of
the “best” features of the tour is ending with a generous
tasting of draught Guinness in the traditional Brewery
Bar and the rooftop Gravity Bar where you can get an
amazing view of Dublin!
In the West of Ireland you’ll find the rugged coastline
of the Atlantic. Galway city, Clifden and Westport are
three great bases for exploring this region. Featuring
Connemara and the wilds of County Maya nature lovers will enjoy a vast array of wildlife while those seeking
some water sports will enjoy the islands of Achill, Aran

and Clare great for fishing, kayaking and scenic cruises.
Not to be missed in this area is Connemara National
Park, a combination of bogland, lakes and mountains.
One of my personal favorite regions of Ireland is
the Southwest region. Mostly because I love the city of
Killarney and its surrounding areas. Just outside of the
city lies the Lakes of Killarney. Although Killarney has
been described as a “tourist town” it still evokes a cheerful atmosphere filled with “Kerry humor” this city is
personified by the wise cracking “Jarveys” whose families have run jaunting cars (horse drawn carriage rides)
there for generations. Killarney is not the only awesome
thing about this area. The ring of Kerry consists of a
route around the Iveragh Peninsula. This captivating and
coastal scenery is dotted with slate roofed fishing villages
and brightly painted cottages. Not to be missed in this
region is a tour of the Dingle Peninsula which offers
some of Ireland’s most beautiful scenery. A drive around
this area (which can take about 4-6 hours) reveals fascinating antiquities ranging from Iron Age stone forts
to inscribed stone huts and beehive huts. Before heading out of the Southwest region we can’t forget about
Blarney! In this area you can visit Blarney Castle, and it’s
magnificent gardens. The Blarney woolen mills (the best
for your Irish sweaters) and of course we can’t forget to
Kiss the Blarney Stone!
The Southeast Region offers the warmest climate in
Ireland. This mountainous region is known for its impressive castles such as Castletown House and Power-
Rock of Cashel
scourt. As well as one of Irelands oldest cities, Waterford.
Here you can take a tour of the Waterford Crystal Factory. Your tour ends in the Waterford Crystal shop so you
can have a souvenir shipped home. Also in the Southeast

The McHenry Elementary Education Foundation has been in existence since 1992. We are a non for
profit organization whose mission is
to promote the value of education
and acquire resources which enhance
McHenry Elementary School District
15 education programs and projects,
and provide enriched educational opportunities for learners. We achieve
this mission by promoting the development of students, encourage
employee innovation, promote parent
education, and encourage school and
community partnerships.
This year we will be hosting our
9th Annual Chili Cook-Off on January 10, 2015 at Parkland School in
conjunction with District 15’s 3 on 3
Basketball Tournament. Each of the
8 schools and Central Office perfect
their own secret chili recipe and have a
friendly competition for the best District 15 chili! Everyone can vote for
their favorite chili recipe and the most
spirited theme. Our blind judging
is done by local dignitaries including
Mayor Low, Fire Chief Hueman, Police Chief Birk, and Chamber President Kay Rial-Bates, just to mention
a few! Be sure to come by to watch
some great basketball and enjoy some
tasty chili.

Tuesday of the month at the District’s
