The term got off to an exciting start with the Royal Wedding theme day but the boys soon settled down to work the following week,
although for Year Three it was not hard slog for long as they were soon off on their Hilltop Trip. Cricket has got off to a great start
with some very impressive scores to our credit and our boys played brilliantly at the Ashdowne House Cricket Festival. Some year
groups have already been on their educational visits. I hope you enjoy reading about some of our exploits!

WINDSOR HOUSEBOARD WINNERS
Windsor were very
proud winners of
this term’s houseboard competition,
especially as we had
a very royal theme.
As usual, there were
some outstanding
examples of pictures, models and
written work from all the houses. Well done, boys! Mrs C
YEAR ONE TRIP TO THE ZOO
The boys had a fabulous time visiting London Zoo. They saw lots of
animals and took part in a fascinating workshop about the different
types of animal skin and fur.

BOOKS AND SAINSBURY’S VOUCHERS
If you have any good quality books that your boys have
finished with, which would be suitable for our library, we
would love to have them. Fiction or non-fiction books
would be gratefully received. Unlike Wellington College
we have no plans to replace our books with Ipads!
We are also collecting Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers, so
if you have any please put them in the box which is on the
table by the theatre. The box for book donations is on the
same table. Many thanks.
KINDERGARTEN
KG2 had a visit from Talan’s Uncle who is a pilot.
They found out about different aircraft used by
British Airways and the number of wheels and
engines they have. The boys sat in a virtual cockpit
which was great fun. KG2 also visited the Opticians
in Clapham High Street which is run by Talan’s
parents and had a wonderful time trying out
different lenses and testing scratchproof glasses with
little hammers. The boys were also shown pictures of the different
types and number of eyes that mini-beasts have.

What an animal-azing day! We went to
THREE talks - Mega bugs, Animals in action
and Abi's tale. Mrs Wilkins very kindly
treated the boys to a go on the merry-goround, where we spun away the rain drops!
We also managed to flutter our way through
the Butterfly Paradise where we
saw chrysalises the size of chocolate bars!

VISIT TO THE CHILDREN’S REFUGE
I visited the Esther Benjamin’s
refuge, on the outskirts of Kathmandu, when I was in Nepal over
the Easter break. It is in a good
location, on the outskirts of the
bustling city, with space for the
children to play. There were children of varying ages, from a twoweek old whose mother had sadly
died to some young adults who
have been given a safe haven.
The refuge has a happy atmosphere and everyone is kept busy either
through going to lessons or
learning skills which they can
use in the future to help them
get a job. They were very
proud of their dormitories and
keen to show me the few possessions they had.
Thank you again for your generosity which will help the
refuge to continue their good
work.

NEPAL TREK
I thought you might like to see the
picture of Kanchenjunga Basecamp,
which I trekked to in April. After
eleven days of fairly arduous walking, I reached 5140m and with
heavy snow during the night, I
thought I wouldn't be able to see the
mountain. Luckily, by 5.00 am, the
snow had stopped and I had a crystal clear view of the world’s third highest peak.

SPORTING SENSATIONS
This term the boys are playing cricket as their major sport. The U8s have been in outstanding
form winning seven of their eight games and the U7s winning their first three games.
The highlight so far this term in sport has been the Ashdown House cricket tournament. We
travelled down to Sussex to compete in an eight team competition. As always the hosts provided
an excellent day’s cricket and an even better BBQ lunch.

Inter School Chess Challenge vs Belgravia

Howzatt!
Eaton House Belgravia boys came over to challenge our boys to see who would be the champions at chess. Having won the cup last year the
expectations were high within our team but despite playing superbly EHTM boys were narrowly beaten seven games to four.
YEAR THREE AT HILLTOP
Year Three spent four fun-filled and challenging days at Hilltop Outdoor Centre in Norfolk. The boys were able to participate in lots of
exciting activities including rock climbing, abseiling, high ropes,
trapeze and zip wire, to name but a few. They also took part in a
nature hunt and were able to get up close and personal with a grass
snake!

‘The assault course was very enjoyable and very challenging. It had a very hard crocodile pit obstacle—

which you had to grab. It was really scary if you looked
