Take a “leaf” from the Octoberfest donation tree in the narthex and bring in your
donation by Tuesday, October 6 to help us defray the cost of food and supplies.
All hands on deck! Put on your work clothes, grab some tools, and show up for Set-up
Sunday, October 4, starting at 11:30 AM. Set-up activities will continue throughout the
week during the day and evenings. This is a great way to get to know other folks in the
parish while supporting our biggest fundraiser of the year.
Sign up in the narthex, or call the office, to volunteer at the fair.
Sell your $1,000 raffle tickets and get them back to the church office as soon as you can.
Buy $1,000, $10,000 and 55-inch LED TV raffle tickets in the narthex this weekend, or
from the church office during the week.
Consider donating something for the silent and live auctions. Only new items, please!
Contact Monice Oliphant for info. Donation deadline is Thursday, October 8.
Call Linda, 775-8850, as soon as possible to register your team for the gumbo or
jambalaya cook-off. The chicken & sausage gumbo needs to be ready by 5 PM Friday,
October 9, with rice to feed 50 people. The chicken & sausage jambalaya should be ready
for 11 AM on Saturday, October 10. You may use pork in the jambalaya as well.
Bring homemade cakes, pies, brownies, cookies and other sweets for the Catholic
Daughters’ Sweets Booth. Drop off the goodies any time during the weekend.
Plan your fair activities and invite your friends and neighbors.
Pray for good weather, a successful fair, the many volunteers, and everyone who will be
visiting St. Isidore for Octoberfest!
Thank You,
Blood Donors!
Thanks to our generous blood donors, we gained
13 blood unit credits with OLOL Blood Bank at
our recent drive. Did you know that St. Isidore
parishioners can request blood unit credits from
our parish account after surgeries or emergencies?

Praying the Glorious Mysteries
Resurrection from the dead is the promise given by the Glorious Mystery. The apostles were so sure of the reality
of Christ’s Resurrection that they gladly gave their lives for him. In the second Glorious Mystery, we consider the
forty days Jesus spent with his apostles before he ascended into heaven, testifying that he will be with us until the
end of time. He entrusted the apostles, and us, with the mission of bringing his Good News to the world. This
seemingly impossible task is brought within our grasp by the third mystery, in which the Holy Spirit turned the
apostles from frightened, weak sinners into bold preachers of the faith. We have received the same Spirit, who, as
Saint Paul tell us, “is no cowardly spirit, but One who makes us strong, loving, and wise”(2 Timothy 1:7). In the
fourth mystery, we see that old age can be time spent in the company of Mary, who must have often received Holy
Communion until she was assumed into heaven and the embrace of her Son. In the fifth and final mystery of the
rosary, we honor Mary as Queen of heaven and earth, as the Woman of Revelation 12, standing on the moon,
clothed with the sun, wearing a crown of twelve stars.
So Mary is the great evangelist. She brought Jesus into the world. She brings Jesus to us in the mysteries of the
rosary, in prayer and in her appearances. The Miraculous Medal, which Mary designed, shows her as the Woman
of Revelation. She was announced in Genesis 3 as the one who would begin the process of crushing the head of the
serpent. We can count on her assistance in our battle against Satan. He is helpless when Mary and Jesus are
standing on his head!
We can also count on Mary when the battles of life are over, when God calls us to leave this world for our true
home in heaven. So during the rosary we repeat: “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the
hour of our death.” As we conclude the rosary, we turn to Mary, who will bring Jesus to us forever: “And after this
our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.”
