Eine zentrale Rolle spielt das Thema Party auch
in der Sonderschau „The spirit of celebration“.
Hier präsentieren wir in diesem Jahr die USA mit
Halloween und Valentinstag. Beide haben zwar europäische Wurzeln, wurden aber lange Zeit insbesondere in den USA zelebriert. In den letzten fünfzehn
Jahren übertrug sich die Begeisterung für die beiden
Feste auf viele andere Länder in Europa und der

After Christmas and Easter, most
people‘s favourite celebrations are
weddings, birthdays and New Year.
They provide a complete contrast to
our busy everyday lives, giving us an
exc use to celebrate with family,
friends and acquaintances.
People‘s interest in celebrating these events has prompted us to devote particular attention
to party and festive items at Christmasworld 2009. For exhibitors of table decorations, party
tableware and fireworks we have created a special themed exhibition area. Our Trend Show
in hall 9.2 can provide you with valuable information about the latest colours, themes and
products, and can also give you inspiration for your own store decorations.
The party theme is also one of the focuses of a special show entitled “The Spirit of Celebra
tion“. This is where we are presenting the USA alongside Halloween and Valentine‘s Day.
Although both traditions have their origins in Europe, for many years they have been cele
brated to a far greater extent in the USA. Over the last fifteen years the enthusiasm with
which these two events are celebrated in the USA has spread to most countries in Europe,
and elsewhere in the world. In the Galleria you can expect to see some exciting events which
will provide you with lots of inspiration for Halloween and Valentine‘s Day.
Christmasworld in Frankfurt – The World of Event Decoration – showcases products for
all the year‘s festivities. Some 1,000 exhibitors from all over the world are once more pres
enting their latest products, trends and innovations at Christmasworld 2009, the foremost
international trade fair for seasonal and festive decorations.

Am Messe-Samstag und am Messe-Sonntag
steht die Christmasworld ganz im Zeichen des
Fachhandels. Ab 9 Uhr wird an den Eingängen kostenfrei
Kaffee gereicht und Musik gespielt. Zur Mittagszeit gibt
es ein vergünstigtes Menü in den Messerestaurants und
an den Mini-Pics.
Am Samstag, den 31. Januar und am Sonntag, den 1. Februar 2009
bringt die deutsche Bahn die Besucher morgens zur Christmasworld und
abends wieder nach Hause. Das Angebot gilt für 19 deutsche Städte
(Berlin, Dortmund, Freiburg, Hamburg, Leipzig, München, Nürnberg mit
diversen Zwischenstopps) und beinhaltet auch eine Tageskarte für
die Christmasworld sowie einen Gutschein für einen Messekatalog.

Die Trendschau des Stilbüros bora.herke bietet Fachbesuchern Anregungen

of Event Decoration – die beiden schwedischen Feste „Midsommar“ und

spanischen Frühlingsfest „Las Fallas“ in Valencia.

to Frankfurt a different country with its different festive traditions. At the
world‘s leading trade fair for party and festive decorations – The World
of Event Decoration – in 2008 the focus was on two Swedish festivities:

Zum Beispiel Westfield London. Für das kürzlich eröffnete Shopping Center – das
größte Europas – hat Blachère ein ambitioniertes Beleuchtungskonzept entwickelt.
1.217.972 LEDs wurden eingesetzt, um einen glitzernden Wald, Lichtwogen und
belebte Galaxien zu schaffen. Dabei kamen 1.500 iLED Cubes nach weltweiter
Spitzentechnologie zum Einsatz. 30 m hoch sind die Leuchtbäume im Atrium, die
ein Lichthimmel miteinander verbindet. 80 km elektrische Kabel verlegten die
Techniker. 6000 Quadratmeter kabellos animierte Fassade werden komplett durch das
SAR® System von Blachère gesteuert. 700 Stunden an konzeptueller und kreativer
Projektarbeit und 5.000 Fertigungsstunden waren notwendig, um das beeindruckende
Leuchtensemble zu realisieren.
Weitere Projekte u. a. in Lissabon und Tokio kamen hinzu. Die weihnachtliche
Champs-Élysées in Paris erleuchtete wieder „Elusia“ mit 70.000 Flash LEDs und 320
kristallgeschmückten Bäumen. Mailand und Dublin vertrauen Blachère jedes Jahr
anspruchsvolle Lichtdekorationen an.

Lighting installations from Blachère Illumination enjoy an excellent international reputation. A look at some current projects explains why.

One example is the recently opened Westfield shopping centre in London for which Blachère developed an ambitious lighting concept. 1,217,972 LEDs were used to create a glittering forest, waves of light and galaxies full of
life at what is now the largest shopping centre in Europe. 1,500 state-of-the-art iLED cubes were also used. The
illuminated trees in the atrium reach up 30 m into a light-filled sky. 80 km of electric cables were laid by technicians while cablefree animated storefronts extending over a length of 600 m are now controlled by Blachère‘s
SAR® system. 700 hours of creative work went into the development of the concept and 5,000 manufacturing
hours went into producing this remarkable lighting installation.
Blachère has also been working on projects in Lisbon and Tokio. In Paris, the Champs-Élysées was once again lit up
by Blachère: “Elusia“ consisted of 70,000 flash LEDs and 320 trees decorated with crystals. Sophisticated holiday
lights and decorations in Milan and Dublin have also been created by Blachère .

Groß-Events sind pyrotechnische Herausforderung
ersten Ranges. Wie man sie meistert, zeigte bei den
„Kölner Lichtern 2008“ der Feuerwerksweltmeister der
Jahre 2000 und 2004, WECO.
35 Pyrotechniker und Helfer von Weco bauten insgesamt 10
Feuerwerke auf. Allein das Hauptfeuerwerk bestand aus ca. 4,7 Tonnen
Feuerwerkskörpern. Etwa 1,3 Tonnen Feuerwerkskörper kamen dann
nochmals für die kleinen Feuerwerke entlang des Rheins hinzu. Insgesamt
wurden wohl mehr als 20.000 Schuss abgegeben. Das Höhenfeuerwerk
war 2008 das größte musiksynchrone Feuerwerk Deutschlands.
Das Hauptfeuerwerk fand auf zwei Pontonschiffen zwischen
Hohenzollernbrücke und Deutzer Brücke statt. Für die erste Hälfte des
Feuerwerks initiierte Weco mit modernster Spezial-Pyrotechnik eine

Spectacular firework displays present a pyrotechnical
challenge of the highest order. WECO, world fireworks
champion in 2000 and 2004, staged an impressive demonstration at Kölner Lichter 2008 (Cologne Lights Up) of how
such a challenge can be met.
Thirty five pyrotechnists and their assistants from Weco had set up a total
of 10 separate firework displays. The main firework display alone comprised
approx. 4.7 tons of fireworks. Added to this were 1.3 tons of fireworks for
the smaller displays along the banks of the Rhine river. A total of 20,000
individual fireworks were sent into the sky. The high altitude firework
display was the largest firework display in Germany in 2008 designed to
synchronise with music.
The main display took place on two pontoon boats between Hohenzollern
Bridge and Deutzer Bridge. For the first half of the firework display Weco
used special state-of-the-art pyrotechnic effects to stage a journey through
fireworks history. The primeval force of fireworks was visualised by lighten
ing simulators and flame columns. A volcanic eruption was also staged.

Über spuckende Drachen, brennende Engel und die goldsilber gleißenden
Spektakel des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts ging es dann in der Moderne. Hier
entfaltete das Feuerwerk erstmals seine ganze Farbenpracht.

18th centuries the journey continued to the modern day when, in a blaze of
colour, firework displays developed to their full glory.
Kölner Lichter 2008 ended with a grand finale during which Far Eastern
firework traditions intermingled with exuberant Italian fireworks and
Northern European precision firework technologies.

Marko Karvo ist bis 21. Februar 2009 im Tigerpalast zu
sehen.
