HEROINE has been
finalised to jive with
Akshay Kumar for
the remixed song of Apni to
Jaise Taise… from Laawaris
(1981). It’s Aladin actress,
Jacqueline Fernandez, who
has bagged the role in Sajid
Khan’s Housefull.
Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline’s Aladin co-star, will
be also seen in the song. The
song, which was originally
sung by Kishore Kumar, has
been re-recorded with Mika.
Portions of Kishore Kumar’s original track will also
be retained. Sajid has also
sung a few lines of the song
along with Mika. Sajid says,
“I sang a few lines of Mast
Kalandar in Heyy Babyy. So,
I was asked to pitch in as the
lucky mascot for Apni to
Jaise Taise… too.”

Jethmalani and Surily Goel. While Anna will
showcase her Spring/Summer 2010 collection in Hyderabad in April, Rocky is possibly the only designer to display Indian
couture. “My Mumbai show on March
20 will feature silk lehengas and salwar
kameezes, velvet and chiffon in burnt
shades of olive, brown, orange and
grey, along with cocktail wear,” he
says.
Surily Goel’s show in Mohali on
March 13 will see a collection in the
colours of Kings XI Punjab — grey
and red. “Sporty and sexy, it’ll also
have touches of cream, beige and
black,” she says.
Nandita Mahtani has planned a
collection of evening wear with a
sporty feel for her show in Mumbai
on March 22. “I’ve saved the line
especially for the IPL,” she states.

HE Indian Premier League (IPL) isn’t called the
baap of entertainment for nothing. This year, it
has a copious dose of fashion thrown in,
thanks to ex-model and actor Arjun Rampal’s wife,
Mehr Jessia. She’s bringing together 57 Indian designers for the IPL fashion shows, featuring women’s wear,
to take place in between matches and at the after-parties.
All she will reveal now is that a formal announcement
will be made in two weeks. The brief given to most
designers? An evening-cum-resort wear collection.
Delhi-based designers Shantanu and Nikhil Mehra
will open the fashion extravaganza in Mumbai on March
13 with a collection for the Mumbai Indians. Cricket
fanatic Nikhil says, “Mumbai is an important market for
the young and trendy. It’s far ahead in terms of understanding street fashion. We’re creating a special line for
the IPL with lots of colours and glam. We love Zaheer
Khan, Harbhajan Singh and Sanath Jayasuriya, all of
whom are part of the team.”
Tarun Tahiliani, a close aide of Mehr, and Malini Ramani
are the other Delhi-based designers participating. Says
Malini, “My shows on March 31 and April 14 in Delhi will
have a brand new summer
line and a resort line.” Manish Arora is yet to agree to
participating in the event.
From Mumbai, there’s

Commenting on Jacqueline finally bagging this
chartbuster, Sajid says, “We
wanted a relatively fresh
face for the song. Both,
Farah, who is going to
choreograph the number,
and I, thought that Jacqueline was perfect for it. She’s
a great dancer and is going
to give Akshay, Riteish and
Arjun Rampal a run for
their money.”
Jacqueline is on cloud
nine about doing the song.
She says, “I’m so excited
and nervous about doing
the song. I couldn’t believe it when I was approached for it. Nobody
knows this, but I can
really dance. I can’t wait
to shoot the number.”
