AP Exam Fees
Any students planning to write an AP Exam in May must pay their exam
fees online or at the office by Jan 30th. Each exam costs
$120.

Writing Club: Any students interested in starting a writing club,
please attend a meeting at lunch this Friday in room 101. If you cannot
make the meeting, but are interested in writing, please see Ms.

WORDS contest submissions are due by February 12th. Submissions
written in English and French are being accepted. You can write a
poem or a prose piece (max. 500 words). Your work should be carefully

proofread and edited. You can submit multiple entries but must
include a separate cover sheet for each piece you are submitting. If
you have any questions, please see Ms. Stanisic, your English teacher, or your French teacher. More details and
cover sheets are posted on the bulletin board outside of the English department wing on the first floor.

Congratulations to Salina Kung for being accepted into the "Gene Researcher for a Week" program which is a
prestigious program offered by the Canadian Gene Cure Foundation. The program selects 50 motivated and
ambitious students from across Canada that demonstrate excellence in science and an interest in human genetics.
Salina will be working with the Neurology department at UBC over spring break.

Auditions for Alpha's production of "Almost Maine" are Feb. 11 & 12. Sign up sheet is outside the Dance
Studio on the Audition board. You must also fill out an audition form and pick up a scene to prepare - both are
found on the board across from the Dance Studio door.

A day of exploration at SFU where you can: map multiple possibilities for your future; navigate career and
educational options; challenge ideas about success; participate in Philosopher’s Café; network with other high
school students.

placements that are available right now to choose from and can get you started in completing your mandatory

Winterruption 2015: A uniquely Vancouver winter festival on Granville Island requires volunteers in many
different areas from Feb. 19th -22nd 2015. This is a great opportunity for those who are interested in hospitality,
tourism, performing arts, entertainment, event management or those who are simply looking to fulfill general
volunteer requirements. Come to the Career Centre for more information.
Staging, Equipment, Drums? The Jazz Festival is looking for production crew for their upcoming festival. If
you are interested, please visit the Career Center in room 319 and talk to one of you Career Prep Advisors soon.

Wellness Fair. There are a variety of positions and times.
Kiu Do Chinese School: Heritage Language Chinese school is looking for volunteers to help in many different
projects. This opportunity runs every Saturday with two different shifts here at Alpha. Come to the Career
Centre for more information.
Artspace Children’s Arts Center: Are you a mature and reliable youth looking for a fun volunteer opportunity to
gain valuable work experience? If you are a student you is interested in working with kids and teach about visual
and performing arts come to the Career Center.
BCIT Broadcast Work Experience Opportunity (Grade 11 and 12)! Any grade 11 or 12 students interested in
