Longings
Within each individual resides an
unbroken wholeness, which is
inherently creative within our nature.
Longings emerge from this unbroken
wholeness as a signal of parts of our own
nature that are calling to come home.
The opposite of longing is belonging.
Every longing is an aspect of
inspiration or “fire” that has not been
fully expressed or experienced.
Spiritual traditions of the world often
speak of the four fires that provide
doorways for the experience of
communion: the fire of vision; the
heart’s fire; the creative fire; and the
soul’s fire. We will explore
which of these doorways
hold our longings and are
calling for more expression
and communion. Crosscultural tools and practices will
be suggested as ways of identifying and bringing our longings
home for full inclusion and engagement.
