FULL BODY STRETCH (19+ yrs)
Full Body Stretch is a great practice for anyone who is stiff looking to improve flexibility, anyone looking to stretch
their muscles back out and anyone looking to begin exploring meditation. In this class floor poses are held for
extended periods of time with the muscles relaxed to allow gravity time to work on the muscles, connective tissue,
joints, and even the bones. This practice can actually be therapeutic for certain kinds of joint-pain as the long gentle
holds can allow the joints to be worked in a safe and therapeutic manner that is simply impossible in a more active
class. Because of the nature of the long holds it is a great time for inner-reflection and meditation as well as
developing a deeper awareness of both the body and the breath.

YOGA - STRENGTH & CORE CONDITIONING (19+ yrs)
Strengthening the 29 muscles of your core -- comprised of your stomach, back, hips and pelvis -- improves all
functional movement, increases balance and stability, recovers posture and reduces the risk of falling. Without a
strong core, other muscles pick up the slack to accomplish everyday movements, which contributes to injuries and reduces overall functionality. Change your body by improving your posture, building core strength and producing long
and lean muscles. You'll stand straighter, feel stronger and become more flexible. Students with a high level of physical fitness welcome.

Fall Prevention by Raquel
As we age, muscular weakness , inflexibility , lack of mobility contribute to our risk
of falling. Our bodies are meant for movement, and maintaining a regular fitness
program can provide an effective strategy to reduce risk of falling. Unfortunately,
falls do happen but seniors can minimize the injury associated with a fall if they have
learned how to get up. This is taught in an Osteofit or Get Up and Go! class.
Osteofit is BC Women’s certified exercise, education and falls prevention program for
individuals with osteoporosis, low bone density or who are at risk of fractures and
falls. The Get Up and Go! Program is a registered program, which is an adaptation
of Osteofit, directed to those with mobility impairments who require walking aids
and are at increased risk for falls.
FREE INTRODUCTION TO OSTEOFIT
Based on research, best practices and medically endorsed, Osteofit is a unique exercise and
education program for those at risk of falling who require a strength, balance, and coordination
program that is especially safe for those with low bone mass. Osteofit activities put the ‘fun’ back
into functional!
