The Penitential Act - the Priest invites us to recall how we may have offended God or
others by our actions and words. We say the Confiteor (“I confess”) or some other form
of acknowledgment of sin as a community. This is followed by the priest’s prayer of
absolution. This absolution does not replace a sincere sacramental confession as we
seek reconciliation with God.
The Kyrie (Lord Have Mercy) - is our chant to acclaim the Lord and seek His mercy. It
may be sung or repeated by the congregation, being led by the priest or cantor.
The Gloria - is said or sung on Sundays outside of Advent and Lent as well as on Solemnities and Feast Days. It is one of our most ancient and venerable hymns. It venerates the Trinity by citing each member individually. It is a profound prayer of praise and
adoration of the Trinity.
The Collect - the priest invites us all to a brief period of individual silent prayer. Then
he “collects” or “bundles” all our separate prayers as he reads or sings this solemn
prayer for all of us. The prayer leads us to reflect on God’s presence in our lives. These
prayers are usually directed to God the Father through Our Lord in union with the Holy
Spirit. The Roman Missal contains a different Collect prayer for each Sunday and for
many of the weekdays.

REFLEXIONES SOBRE LOS ELEMENTOS ESTRUCTURALES DEL ORDEN DE LA MISA
(CONTINUACIÓN)
El acto penitencial - el sacerdote nos invita a recordar como hayamos podido ofender
a Dios o a los demás por nuestras acciones y palabras. Decimos el Yo pecador ("Me
Confieso") o alguna otra forma de reconocimiento del pecado como una comunidad.
Esto es seguido por la oración de absolución del sacerdote. Esta absolución no sustituye a una sincera confesión sacramental, mientras buscamos la reconciliación con Dios.
El Kyrie (Señor ten piedad) - es nuestro canto para aclamar al Señor y buscar Su misericordia. Puede ser cantado o repetido por la congregación, siendo dirigido por el

Annual Collection for Retired Religious
Next Weekend, December 13-14

The Annual Collection to support the retirement fund for
Religious will be next weekend. For many years the religious men and women, especially sisters and brothers,
served in parishes, schools, hospitals and other ministries
in our country, often receiving a minimum stipend.
Many of us remember the numbers of religious. Their
stipends provided for their daily lives but did not allow
many congregations to provide for the retirement
needs. The work of the younger members was able to
support the care of elderly and infirm members. The reality is different now. Many religious are older. The average age is late sixties. Many are still serving in new ministries in their senior years. They depend on us to support
them both for health care and retirement. We were
blessed by their faithful ministries. Thank you for your
generosity to them in this second collection.

La colecta anual para apoyar con los fondos de Religiosos retirados será el próximo fin de semana. Por muchos años los religiosos hombres y mujeres, especialmente hermanas y hermanos, sirvieron en parroquias, escuelas, hospitales y en otros
ministerios en nuestro país, a menudo recibiendo ingreso mínimo. Muchos de nosotros recordamos el número de religiosos.
Sus ingresos proveían para sus gastos diarios, pero no permitía
a muchas congregaciones proveer para las necesidades en su
vida de retirados. El trabajo de los miembros más jóvenes
hacía posible el apoyo y cuidado de los ancianos. La realidad
es ahora diferente. Muchos religiosos son viejos. La edad promedio es de más de sesenta años. Muchos aún siguen sirviendo
en nuevos ministerios en sus años de vejez. Ellos dependen de
nuestra ayuda para el cuidado, tanto de la salud como en su
retiro. Nosotros fuimos bendecidos por sus fieles ministerios.

Social Action Committee News
“OUR GIVING TREE”
Our Giving Tree is up and decorated with ornaments
made by OLGC students. Please take one and return
the item on it as soon as possible. Our goal this year is
the same as last year, we would like to make it a warm
winter for all, therefore we are asking for hats, gloves,
mittens, scarves and blankets. Christmas distribution
begins on December 6 and continue through December 20. Again, thank you for your assistance this year
