Saturday and third Sunday of the month at 2:00 pm and in English
on the second Sunday of the month at 2:00 pm. Parents must register the child at the Rectory at least one month in advance.

Thanksgiving Mass
The Icla Da Silva Foundation will hold a drive in
our parish on Sunday, December 5th, from 9:30
am to 2:00 pm. This foundation is dedicated in
assisting people who suffer from leukemia and
need a bone morrow transplant. You could be a
match to the thousands of patients that need
such a transplant. Please help save a life!!

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception is
celebrated this Wednesday, December 8th, and
Masses will be celebrated at 9:00 am (with the children of the school), 12:00 pm (Spanish), 5:15 pm
(English) and 7:00 pm (Spanish). As the Patroness
of the United States, this Solemnity is a Holy Day of
Obligation.
As of December 1st, 2010, Father Damian has
been assigned to Holy Spirit Church on University Avenue and Burnside. He has already being
helping out at that Church for almost a month
since the Pastor there has been alone. We are
so grateful to Fr. Damian for the years he
served in OLM and would like to express our
gratitude in a fare-well Mass of Thanksgiving
sometimes on a Sunday. However, now every
Sunday of the month has scheduled events and
so we hope to set aside a day in the near future.

The Mass Book for the year 2010 is now open

COLLECTION FOR
RETIRED RELIGIOUS
Next weekend, December 11/12, the annual national
collection for the retired religious will be taken at all
the Masses. In the United States alone almost
40,000 Catholic religious past the age of 70. Our
religious sisters, brothers and priests gave their time
very generously serving in schools, hospitals, nursing homes, orphanages and parishes. This is our
opportunity to support them as they supported us.

WORLD YOUTH DAY 2011 IN MADRID
The World Youth Day Festival will take place next
year 2011 with Pope Benedict XVI in Madrid, Spain.
It is a world youth Festival around Jesus, the pope
and thousands of young people. If you are interested in attending and would like to know how,
please speak to Father Rodriguez.

Second Sunday of Advent
THE LONG-AWAITED ONE
As the Sundays of Advent unfold the scriptures shift focus
from the final coming of the Lord to his historical birth.
Today’s scriptures blend the two. Isaiah’s disillusionment
with the kings of his own day led him to envision an ideal
king who would rule with divine approval and be led by
divine wisdom. For centuries the Jewish people anticipated the arrival of that Messiah, who would usher in a
blessed age when the whole world would finally dwell in
justice and peace. After centuries of such growing expectation, the preaching of John the Baptist about the imminent arrival of the Messiah could not help but provoke
intense interest. The Baptist’s message about preparation
for “the one who is coming” (Matthew 3:11) makes clear
that Jesus is, in fact, the long-awaited one who is ushering in the new age foretold by Isaiah and all the prophets.

Segundo Domingo de Adviento
LARGA ESPERA
A medida que transcurren los domingos de Adviento el
foco de las lecturas cambia de la venida final del Señor a
su histórico nacimiento. Las lecturas de hoy mezclan ambos. Isaías, desilusionado de los reyes de sus tiempos,
imagina al rey ideal que gobernará con la aprobación de
Dios y será guiado por la divina sabiduría. Por siglos el
pueblo judío anticipó la llegada de ese Mesías, quien
inauguraría una era de gracia cuando todo el mundo finalmente viviría en justicia y paz. Luego de siglos de creciente expectativa, la predicación de Juan Bautista sobre
la inminente llegada del Mesías no hizo más que provocar un intenso interés. El mensaje del Bautista sobre “el
que viene” (Mateo 3:11) deja claro que Jesús, de hecho,
es aquel esperado por largo tiempo que inaugura la
nueva era predicha por Isaías y todos los profetas.

Primera lectura — Brotará un retoño del tronco de Jesé.
Juzgará a los pobres con justicia, y herirá al violento con el
látigo de su boca (Isaías 11:1-10).

PADRE DAMIAN EKETE
A partir del 1ro de Diciembre, 2010, el Padre
Damian ha sido asignado a la Parroquia del
Espiritu Santo (Holy Spirit) en la Avenida
University y la Calle Burnside. El ya habia
estado ayudando en esa iglesia todo este mes
ya que el parroco de esa iglesia ha estado solo.
Estamos muy agradecidos al Padre Damian por
los anos que sirvio en nuestra parroquia y nos
gustaria poder hacerle una Misa de despedida y
accion de gracias un domingo, pero al momento
todos los domingos estan programados con alguna actividad pero esperamos poder hacerlo
en el futuro cercano. Gracias Padre Damian y
muchas bendiciones!!!
JORNADA MUNDIAL DE LA JUVENTUD
MADRID 2011
La Jornada Mundial de la Juventud se llevara a
cabo el proximo ano 2011 en Madrid, Espana, con
el Papa Benedicto XVI. Saldremos el 12 de Agosto
y regresamos el 25 de Agosto. La Peregrinacion
incluye los siguientes lugares: Madrid, Fatima en
Portugal, Santiago de Compostela y Avila etc.

IMMACULADA CONCEPCION
La Solemnidad de la Immaculada Concepcion
se celebra este Miercoles 8 de Diciembre, y las
Misas seran celebradas a las 9:00 am (con los
ninos de la escuela), a las 12 pm en Espanol, a
las 5:15 pm en Ingles y a las 7:00 pm en Espanol. Como Patrona de los Estados Unidados,
esta Solemnidad es dia de obligacion oir Misa.
