What’s that “smell” in my truck?
Ever wonder where that “rotten” smell is coming
from? One reason, could be the result of a build
up of fungus, bacteria, allergens and microbes.
Newer vehicles come equipped with “cabin air
filters” so when the filter or filters get dirty with
dust and allergens, the volume of air through the
vent is lowered and the quality of air diminished.
For those vehicles without “cabin air filters” or
clogged “cabin air filters” the allergens get cycled
into the evaporator core case. Add condensation
to this moisture-laden environment along with all
the allergens and you have a prime breeding
ground for bacteria, fungus and microbes which
ultimately results in that rather nasty smell!
If you believe this may be the reason for your
“stinky truck” a conversation with your service
technician may be in order.
