W
class 4A state finals we were
looking for something challenging
to make a difference for our team
so we attended Carolina's Finest
Team Camp this past June. Time
will tell if our plan worked but I
know that our team developed an
appreciation for the rich tradition
of Carolina basketball and
welcomed the challenge of playing
top teams from Ohio, North
Carolina, South Carolina, and
Tennessee.
—Chris Olson, D'Evelyn High
School, Denver, Colorado.
oach Hatchell’s Team Camp is
C
the most competitive and
organized team camp we have
attended. No where can you have
your team exposed to the national competition we see each year in
Carolina. We have attended the camp for 10 seasons; Sylvia Hatchell’s
Carolina Women’s Basketball Team Camp has become our tradition each
summer.
—Joe Gaba, Chatham High School, Chatham, NJ
W
hen you attend the UNC Girls Basketball camp, you become part of
the UNC family. This is the reason my team and I have returned for
the past 12 years. We enjoy spending time with the players and the
coaches.
— Coach Chris Owens, Clinton High School, Clinton, NC
W
e love the Carolina Team Camp. That is a regular part of our off
season plan for our players. We have gone to other camps over the
years, and, let me tell you, they are not the same. This camp is so well
run: the timing, the organization, the attention to detail. The best part
might be how involved Coach Hatchell and the rest of her coaches and
players are; that does not happen elsewhere. Other camps do not
compare.
What better way to get your team ready for the upcoming season! Each team must
reserve a slot by sending in the reservation form and a
nonrefundable $50.00 reservation fee per team. Each
team must have at least 8 players and will be charged for
at least eight players. leagues include middle school,
junior high, junior varsity and varsity.
T
eam camp with Sylvia Hatchell and her staff is as good
experience I have had at a summer camp in my forty years of
attending them. The key to success is organization and the
University of North Carolina Women’s camp is a leader in
organization and much more. We played in four of the most
structured and successful gymnasiums that balanced a team camp
perfectly. We traveled to and fro on the most beautiful campus in
America. From the food, to the supervision of dorms, to the
referees, to the best team competition that we needed; I could ask
for no more. I highly recommend this camp for it was worth the
many miles we had to travel.
—John Harder, Bradenton Southeast High School, Bradenton, FL
W
e were looking for something extremely special for our seniors
when we committed to playing in North Carolina’s Finest Team
Camp and it exceeded every one of our expectations. Coach
Hatchell and her staff and players made our girls feel like VIP’s the
entire time we were there. Everything about our Carolina experience
was first class - the organization/communication, the quality of
teams, the facilities, and the development opportunities for our
players and our coaching staff were top notch. Having the chance
to play in the Dean E. Smith Center and at Carmichael Arena and
being made to feel like a part of the Carolina Family were definitely
the highlights of the experience for our girls. I strongly recommend
North Carolina’s Finest Team Camp for you and your team.
—Brandon Rafuse, Thunder Selects Basketball, Halifax, NS, Canada
W
e brought our team out from California to Sylvia Hatchell’s
Team Camp and had a tremendous experience! Every member
of her staff was so accommodating and gracious. Our kids had an
amazing experience both on and off the court. Our staff also
benefitted greatly during X and O sessions with the UNC staff. We
are already fundraising in hope of making the trip again really soon.
This opportunity would be a “ can’t” miss on my team’s summer
schedule!
—Craig Campbell, Clovis West High School, Fresno, CA
E
he UNC Team Camp is more than just a team camp. It offers
Tacquired
coaches and players a library of resources that could never be
by a high school. The access to the UNC Coaching Staff and
very year our girls look
forward to attending Sylvia
Hatchell's Basketball Camp. It
is a great team building
opportunity for us. Our
returning players always talk
about the fun they've had and
our incoming freshmen can't
wait to attend.
—Mark Halsey, Chilhowie High School, Chilhowie, VA
— Brad Kingsbury, Northern
High School, Owings, MD
—Rives Fleming, Collegiate School, Richmond, VA
players are also great. The teams are matched to be competitive at all
levels and I would recommend this camp to anyone. We will definitely
be back.
