Bettering Your Business Workshops This series of seminars is geared toward small business owners who are looking to improve the business knowledge and skill sets of their employees Workshops maybe attended individually or as a series for maximum benefit Grant Writing October 25th, 1:30-4:00 pm Grandview Library Conference Rm Where’s the money? This workshop will teach you how and where to find grants. How to track grant opportunities so you do not miss application deadlines. Learn how to customize a proposal to match a grant maker’s interest. Team Building November 14th, 1-4 pm in Grandview Library Conference Rm This seminar teaches business owners how to recognize different team dynamics and the importance of creating well-designed teams which can lead to an overall increase in company performance and team stability. Employee Performance January 10th, 1-4 pm Grandview Library Conference Rm Learn the basic steps of establishing clear performance expectations, assess professional development needs, evaluate employee performance, develop improvement plan, and coach employees to help them improve. Microsoft Word - Part 1 February 8th, 2-5 pm in Rm. L123 Did you recently switch to Microsoft Word 2010 or are you just starting to use word processing software? If so this is a great workshop for you! You will learn to format documents work with multiple documents, insert pictures and graphics, create headers and footers and more. Microsoft Word - Part 2 February 15th, 2-5 pm in Rm. L123 If you have some familiarity with word but want to do more, come to the intermediate workshop where you will build on skills taught in the introductory Word class. Some of the additional topics you will learn include working with drawing tools, changing styles and formatting, conducting a mail merge and building a table of contents. Microsoft Excel - Part 1 March 7th, 2-5 pm in Rm. L123 Get a jumpstart on using Excel in this hands-on introductory workshop. You will be introduced to the Excel worksheet structure, learn about creating formulas, format and sort data and much more! No previous experience with Excel necessary. Microsoft Excel - Part 2 March 14th, 2-5 pm in Rm. L123 If you have used Excel but don't feel you are utilizing it to its capabilities, this intermediate Excel workshop is for you! You will build on what was covered in the introductory workshop, create lists and charts, work with functions, add themes, subtotal data and more. Long-Term Marketing April 6th, 1-4 pm Grandview Library Conference Rm Participants will learn the basics of creating a marketing plan for their businesses. This interactive class will cover the key marketing components of the plan, including a SWOT analysis, effective marketing segmentation, targeting and positioning strategies, the marketing mix (4 P’s) and creating a marketing program. p now, Sign u ited! m i L s i Space
