OBJECTIVE
A popular video sharing portal and online
community with 100 million registered users.
In September 2012, Matomy and the publisher
began executing a customized media plan.
As a result, the amount of impressions
monetized by Matomy increased by more than
300% within 6 months.
Photobucket brought another one of their
portfolio sites, Tinypic.com (a similar photo
and video sharing portal) to Matomy in
June 2013 with a goal of obtaining a
similar growth in revenue and impressions
monetized as it had with Photobucket.com.
STRATEGY
Matomy’s monetization experts tested several ad placements and demand verticals.
After seeing initial results, they optimized existing placements and added new and innovative ones to
the site to improve monetisation and enhance site experience.
An aggressive customized media plan and constant communication between the publisher and
Matomy were integral to the monetization strategy.
RESULTS
By the end of the third month of activity, the amount of impressions monetized by Matomy
grew 366%. In addition, Tinypic.com received exclusive campaigns and rates, becoming a
preferred traffic source for many Matomy advertisers.
As a positive side effect, the success of monetizing Tinypic.com also led to an increase in
Matomy-monetized traffic and ad revenue for parent company Photobucket.com.
