On Monday, June 23, the New Jersey Food Processors Association, New Jersey Farm Bureau, New Jersey
Food Council and New Jersey Restaurant Association hosted “From Farm to Fork: The Food Industry in the
Garden State Serves You” at the State House in Trenton. For the third consecutive year, these four important
food associations showcased their goods and provided greater visibility of the industry to State Street legislators
and influencers.
Key legislators and policy makers passed through the exhibit in the State House halls and enjoyed
complimentary samples from New Jersey Food Processors Association members, including Clement Pappas &
Co., General Mills/Progresso, Ecce Panis, Limpert Brothers, and Rutgers Food Innovation Center. Clement
Pappas & Co. featured raspberry lemonade and lemonade ice tea. Limpert Brothers and Rutgers Food
Innovation teamed up to offer samples of Limpert Brothers ice cream, such as B-Berry, Razzy K, and Collard
Greens & Apples. Rutgers also
featured some of the other
products offered by the Innovation
Center.
Progresso
provided
attendees with goody bags filled
with soup and bread crumbs, while
Ecce Panis provided generous
samples of their delicious breads.
The New Jersey Farm Bureau
offered their much anticipated
Mastoris blueberry crumb cake,
made with fresh New Jersey
blueberries. The Farm Bureau was
accompanied by three of their
young farmers who work with
poultry, corn, Christmas trees and
soy beans. The New Jersey Food
Council distributed a variety of
beverages and snacks from New
Jersey’s food retailers, including
Stop & Shop and Bottom Dollar.
The New Jersey Restaurant
Association greeted State House
staffers and members of the
legislature with Peppadew Goldew
sweet peppers stuffed with
mozzarella and fresh basil.
Clement Pappas & Co. served raspberry lemonade and lemonade ice tea,
made in Sewell, New Jersey.
Lou Cooperhouse, Rutgers Food Innovation Center, and Pearl Giordano, Limpert Brothers,
surprised legislators with the delicious combinations in each of the Limpert Brothers ice cream
flavors.
Meredith Straten, Bill Speckman and Joe Haun from Ecce Panis provided attendees with
samples of some of their most popular breads, including raisin pecan and focaccia.
Millie Rial and Barbara Adams were busy
bundling take-away packages of Progresso
soup and bread crumbs for attendees.
Marilou Halvorsen, New Jersey Restaurant
Association, and Bob Consola, Peppadew USA,
pleased attendees with samples of their sweet
peppers with mozzarella and basil.
The New Jersey Food Council provided legislators and staffers with
snacks from Stop & Shop and Bottom Dollar in preparation for the
legislature’s lengthy voting session on Monday afternoon.
Assemblywoman Nancy Munoz stopped to speak with the New Jersey Farm Bureau and their three
young farmers. Timothy Polnasek is from Polnasek Poultry Farm in Hillsborough, New Jersey. Kristen
Johnson accompanied Timothy and is a Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher committee member
and 4H’er. Samantha Jany, from Simonson Farm in Cranbury, joined Debbie Pribell, New Jersey Farm
Bureau, for the day’s festivities.
