Edward Guttenplan Appointed President-Elect of
the New Jersey Society of CPAs
Edward Guttenplan, CPA, CGMA, MBA, has been appointed President-Elect of the New Jersey
Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) for a one-year term beginning June 1, 2016.
“I am proud and honored to serve as President- Elect of the New Jersey Society of CPAs (NJCPA).
The organization, consisting of over 15,000 CPAs in private and public practices in NJ, is committed
to furthering the profession and supporting its members and the business community. The
profession has been great to not only me, but the whole Wilkin & Guttenplan team and I look to
give back through my volunteerism and this leadership role. I thank the entire NJCPA staff and the
past volunteer leaders who served as role models before me who have set the standards for
professionalism and service in our chosen careers. While ever-changing, the future is bright and I
hope to serve our current members as well as to the next generation of future CPAs.”
The NJCPA is the fourth largest business and professional association in NJ and the ninth largest state
CPA society in the country. Guttenplan, Managing Shareholder at Wilkin & Guttenplan, P.C., East
Brunswick, joined the New Jersey Society of CPAs in 1981. He served as a trustee for both the NJCPA
Board of Trustees and NJCPA Education Foundation and most currently as the secretary for the NJCPA
Board of Trustees. He has also been a member of the NJCPA Student Programs & Scholarships, Human
Resources, CPE, Special Awards committees and various other initiatives. Guttenplan is a recipient of
the NJCPA Distinguished Service Merit Coin - Standard of Excellence Recognition as well as Recipient of
the NJCPA 2004/2005 Leadership Award. In the Middlesex/Somerset Chapter, he has served as
treasurer, secretary, vice president and president.
Guttenplan is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and is a past board member of the
Community Associations Institute (CAI) of New Jersey, where he was induced into the CAI Hall of
Fame.
In his community, Guttenplan is currently a board member of the Jewish Federation in the Heart of
New Jersey. He served as the past president for the Highland Park Conservative Temple Congregation
Anshe Emeth, Solomon Schechter Day School of Raritan Valley and Central New Jersey Jewish Home
for the Aged/Wilf Campus. He has also served as past commissioner of Highland Park Redevelopment
Agency as well as past chair of Main Street Highland Park.
