Use of 'Green manure and animal manure' actively practiced in
agriculture in Thailand.
The effect of this practice can reduce production costs, improve soil
fertility and increase crop yields.
In the rice crop (plot trial under a project in King of Thailand),
Pigeon pea
planting 'crotalaria' in the paddy fields and then plowed with soil
was found to show higher yield very significant.

work to be carried out at the farm level, including 'in
weather monitoring' as a basis for action.
Crop Improvement and technology Transfer:

- Sugar cane tissue culture for yield increase and
environmental stress tolerance.
Biological control (predators) on sugarcane borer larvae
successfully recover sugar cane industry, Thailand in 2004
where they fell almost 60% yield.

Seed multiplication (breeding) or processing programs in
Thailand are also active. quality control is emphasized.
There is healthy competition among of seeds producers
especially between the private sector and agriculture
agencies.
DOA Thailand has 23 seed processing centers throughout
Thailand.
The private sector to compete to produce quality seeds for
the export market. SEMINIS Seed Company is one of the
world's largest seed producer.
Seed Centre set in the Thailand depending on weather and
soil suitability for crops in that area.
CADANGAN/KOMEN
Cadangan Penambahbaikan Kursus Akan Datang
1.
Orang penting daripada MoA/DOA Thailand patut terlibat dalam perkongsian ‘real experience’
dalam bidang pertanian dengan peserta kursus.
2.
Excersise di lapangan terutama di projek-projek komersil tanaman (buah-buahan) dan padi
perlu dimasukkan.
3.
Jangka masa kursus perlu dipanjangkan jika pendalaman/penghayatan terhadap sesuatu
bidang; seperti teknologi pengeluaran buah-buahan dan pemprosesan serta pembungkusan.
CADANGAN UNTUK SEKTOR PERTANIAN MALAYSIA;
1.
R&D dalam pengeluaran bahan tanaman (seed/seedling) sangat perlu dalam era
global yang sangat kompetitif. Petani Thailand boleh menanam benih bermutu dan
terkini hasil penyelidikan pentas dan berkesan samada swasta/kerajaan.
2.
R & D dalam penggunaan kaedah ‘biological control’ kawalan serangga dan perosak
tanaman sangat relevan kerana ia bukan saja mengurangkan penggunaan racun
kimia (keselamatan & kesihatan), dapat mengurangkan kos pengeluaran dan dapat
mengekalkan sistem ekologi natural.

R&D dalam penggunaan green manure disamping amalan lain sedia ada dalam
pertanian organik perlu diperkenalkan kerana ia dapat memperbaiki tahap kesuburan
tanah dan sekaligus meningkatkan hasil tanaman dengan kos pengeluaran yang
rendah.Di Thailand tanaman crotalaria/sesbania ditanam di sawah padi dan
kemudian dibajak bersama tanah bagi tujuan tanaman padi. Tanaman vertiver grass
didapati berkesan untuk memulihara struktur tanah, saliran dan mencegah hakisan.

Malaysia perlu menghantar pegawai untuk mempelajari secara mendalam bagi tujuan
kepakaran khusus (hand’s on) bagi sesuatu produk seperti teknologi pengeluaran
tanaman dan pemprosesan (pemasaran).
5.
Bioteknologi- Malaysia perlu kreatif mengintai peluang dan melaksanakannya cepat bagi
menghasil sumber baru seperti bahan bakar jentera daripada tanaman (Jatropha curcus,
sugar cane dan cassava starch) di samping kelapa sawit.
6.
Warga pertanian Malaysia perlu bergerak pentas dalam segenap bidang pertanian supaya
lebih kompetitif di antara bangsa kerana dunia luar terutama Australia dan Isreal telah,
sedang dan akan menakluki dunia terutama dalam pasaran produk untuk eksport.
