We finally got to the competition sponsored by OV Vital Link in April with one of our robots. It placed 5th in a field of 10 teams which was quite good considering this was our first time in the competition and we clearly had a lot to learn about the strategy of the game. We naively focused on simply scoring goals while the experienced teams realized there was much to gain in blocking one's opponent or even removing their balls from the goal. We will be wiser next time. In any case, a sincere THANK YOU to the Rotary Club which made this possible. My students had a tremendous time. The picture is from a YOU TUBE video which shows our robot in action in the first three preliminary rounds. The competition is based on working in pairs with another school’s robot to maximize your score vs the other team which is an alliance of another two school’s robots. In the first round we are the blue alliance and our robot is the one with the conveyor belt loader, which turned out to be quite unique and successful. Thanks again. Dr. Brian Leslie, Tustin High School Robotics Club SHAWN SHAHIDI Susan Shahidi, Chair of this Event, thanks The Hanger for providing the Clothing from their Tustin Store stock for our models to show each year.
