2014 - FIRST ANNUAL WESTERN STATES DORPER ASSOCIATION SALE RESULTS The first annual sale sponsored by the Western States Dorper Association was held at the Glenn County Fairgrounds, in Orland, California on Sunday, May 25th On Saturday Billy Wade, a certified Dorper Judge gave a seminar on selecting Dorper and White Dorper breeding sheep and the association held their annual meeting. The sale day started with a seminar by Dr. Celina Phillips from Ca. State University, Chico on how to photograph and video sheep for catalogue photos and web sites. A lunch featuring BBQed leg of lamb was served to over 125 buyers and exhibitors and the sale auctioneered by Rex Williams, Sebastopol, Ca. started at 1 pm. The sale order was determined by Billy Wade and began with White Dorper Stud rams. A ram consigned by Ray Smalley, Levan, Utah sold to Jim Rosenbaum, Gainsville, Texas for $700. Ed Nichols purchased another stud ram from Paul and Kathy Lewis, Bonanza, Oregon for $575. A White Dorper yearling ram from Antonio Juarez, HIJO Dorpers sold to Willow Creek Ranch, Bill Moy, Suisun, Ca. for $1500 and another yearling ram to Judy McDonald, Sonora, Texas for the same price. Lewis White Dorpers sold another yearling ram to Jarrett Grassi, Auburn, Ca. for $900. Wes Patton sold a ram to Grant Leininger, Vina, Ca for $600 and a fall ram lamb to Raymond Vierra, Corning, Ca. for $1250 to round out the White Dorper ram sales. Dorper yearling rams sold from HIJO Dorpers to Robert Quinton, Bakersfield, Ca. for $1300, to Harry Owens, San Simon, Az. for $1600 and to Ernest Mendez, Hanford, Ca. for $1000. Stephanie Payne, Spring Creek Nevada sold a yearling ram to Greg Dahl, Bangor, Ca. for $750. Harry Owens sold a ram to August Otten, Eagle Point, Oregon for $1000. Taureta & Kara Siegalkoff, Grass Valley sold a fall ram lamb to Virglil Myers, Marysville, Ca. for $600 and another fall lamb to Corey Gilmet, Orland, Ca. for $350. Harry Owens sold a fall lamb to Smiling MC Ranch, Dixon, Ca. for $750. Dorper yearling ewes were very popular with HIJO selling ewes for $3750, $3100 and $3400 to Judy McDonald, Sonora, Texas. Another ewe sold from HIJO to Philip Freilich, Martinez, Ca for $1600. Philip also selected two of Harry Owens yearling ewes for $675 each. August Otten purchased two yearling ewes from Brady Tanner, Penn Valley, Ca. for $875 each. Dorper fall ewe lambs posted the high average of the sale with 10 head averaging $1522.50. HIJO sold three fall lambs to Judy McDonald for $3200, $3100, and $2500 and one ewe lamb to Philip Frelich for $1500. Harry Owens sold two lambs to Anita Oberbauer, Vacaville, Ca. for $925 each. Penny Lambach sold Fall lambs to Harry Owens for $850 and $675, and to Joe Moura, Fort Bragg, Ca. for $875 and to Greg Dahl for $675. A White Dorper yearling ewe sold from HIJO to Judy McDonald for $3400, Wes Patton sold a yearling ewe to Wendy Massa, Orland, Ca. for $500 and Lewis White Dorper yearling ewes sold to Austin Middleton, Dixon, Ca. for $375 and to Alicia Galliani, Potter Valley, Ca. for $350 and to Jarrett Grassi for $325. Two white Dorper fall ewe lambs from Wes Patton sold to Alicia Galliani for $550 each.
