(WSDA) MINIMUM BIDS: Ther e will be a minimum bid of $300 for registered stud rams, yearling rams, and ewes with lambs; $250 for registered yearling ewes and ram and ewe lambs, $200 for non-registered ewes. MAIL & PHONE BIDS: If you ar e unable to attend the sale in person, a number of individuals will be able to handle our bids. These include: Sale Manager, Jane Patton (530-514-7250) Lee Petty (prior to sale day 530-529-9596); (sale day 909-816-1465), or the consignor(s) of your choice. All mail and phone bids must be pre-approved by the Sale Manager prior to the sale. It may be possible to arrange transportation if we are notified in advance of your plans. TERMS: Cash or check. The auctioneer ’s decision is final on any disputed bids. All animals are at the purchaser’s risk as soon as sold. Sheep purchased on order must be paid for by the individual doing the bidding or handling the order. All mail and phone bids must be paid in full within 5 days of the sale. Mail bids not paid in full within this time frame will have an additional 10% handling fee added. A 25% surcharge will be assessed to any insufficient funds check issued. Institutions may pay by requisition. Credit card payment will be accepted with prior approval by sale management. A 3% surcharge will be added to the total purchase price for payments with credit card. REGISTRATION: All animals, except those sold as unr egistered or commercial, are registered. All Buyer Numbers must be in the name of the person that the animal is to be transferred to. Registration papers will be given to the buyer upon payment for animals purchased. HEALTH: Buyer s fr om states r equir ing special health permits should contact their state veterinarian and have their permit number with them. It is recommended that prospective buyers contact their state animal health department for further information or regulation changes prior to attending the sale. All sheep sold must be in compliance with Federal scrapie regulations. A veterinarian will be on the grounds to issue outof-state health papers. NOTICE: The Western States Dorper Association, Sale Manager, and the consignors of this sale do not assume any risk, or liability in case of any accidents of any kind or losses of any kind to any person or persons in attendance at the sale. SALE GUARANTEE Except for those stated in the below guarantee, there are no warranties, either expressed or implied, as to the merchantability or fitness for the particular purpose with respect to the sheep being sold in this sale. The warranties and guarantees set forth in the guarantee below are in lieu of all other warranties, either expressed or implied, and the remedies provided therein shall be the sole and exclusive remedy of the buyer, or any other party claiming through the buyer, for any breach of warranty or guarantee therein provided, and all obligations or liabilities. 1. Every ram or ewe sold will be guaranteed as a breeder if properly handled. It shall be the responsibility of the buyer to return the non-breeder to the seller in acceptable breeding condition. The seller, after a fair trial, and the animal is found to be a non-breeder, shall have the privilege of replacing the ram or ewe with one of equal value to the satisfaction of the seller, or refunding the purchase price. This guarantee shall not apply the first year to any sheep that are shown subsequent to the date of the sale. All ewe lambs are exempt from the breeding guarantee the first year. 2. This guarantee shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller only, and no other parties assume any liability, legal or otherwise, expressed or implied. 3. The WSDA cannot or will not assume any responsibility as to the authenticity of the pedigrees, bloodlines, or information provided in the sale catalog, pen cards, or otherwise, and the subsequent genetic performance of any sheep purchased. All such information must be accepted at face value. Any statements or information given sale day supersedes cataloged information. Any special guarantees or claims offered by individual consignors is strictly between the consignor and the buyer, and will not be enforced by the sponsoring organization. At the time had Barbs and Katahdins. We purchased our first full blood Dorper ram in 2005 from Judy Mault in Idaho. We were hoping to increase the weaning weights on our Katahdin sheep. The results were more than we expected, with weaning weights almost doubled. The next year we purchased two full blood ewe from Karoo genetics and sold our Katahdins. We run about 30—40 black headed full blooded Dorper ewes and recently purchased two rams from Half Circle Six Ranches. Both are John Dell breeding from Australia. One is an A.I. John Dell JoJo junior ram and Maverick daughter, the other an embryo out of John Dell Juke and a John Dell ewe. We want to breed a more traditional Dorper body type. Our first lambs from MoJo and Jukebox will be born in June. Watch our website for pictures. What we found was sheep of superior meat quality combined with easy maintenance. Dorpers are becoming increasingly in demand among the different meat markets because of excellent tenderness and flavor of the lamb meat. Out of this discovery we have chosen to upgrade our sheep production program by expanding to a registered herd to supply exceptional breeding animals as well as superb meat product. We have been raising Dorpers over the last 10 years and have enjoyed them the most. We direct sell our lamb and found it hard to keep up with the demand because the meat quality is superb. We have an ongoing interest in bettering our carcass quality. My granddaughter Violet has been active in learning, showing and developing the sheep she claims out of my flock. She raised her first bummer lamb for the fair. My wife was lucky enough to retire well before me and tends the flock most of the time along with her chickens and ducks. We don’t make much money on the animals, but we certainly eat well. Pasture finished lamb is desired by a large portion of the specialty market consumers and White Dorpers fit the specs perfectly. You may already be selling to these markets, but if you are not you should strongly consider the virtues of this breed of sheep in the market scheme of the major population centers of the western states. At Glenn Land Farm we are very excited about these sheep and we know you will be too once you try them.
