obrazi kongresov
Kongresno-prireditvena dejavnost v Cankarjevem domu si je
s svojo dolgoletno tradicijo, znanjem in kakovostno izvedbo
kongresov ustvarila sloves največjega profesionalnega kongresnega organizatorja v Sloveniji. S strokovno usposobljeno
ekipo zagotavljamo izvedbo in trženje kongresov po najzahtevnejših standardih v lastnih in drugih dvoranah doma in v
tujini.
Zavedamo se svojih prednosti in priložnosti, ki se ponujajo.
Za udeležence kongresov je Slovenija kot varna, gostoljubna
in očarljiva majhna država z naravnimi in kulturnimi znamenitostmi ter urejenim in čistim okoljem nadvse zanimiva, njena geografska lega v srednjeevropskem prostoru pa ji
daje še dodatno privlačnost.
Vse to povečuje naše prednosti, ne smemo pa pozabiti na
ljudi, ki kongresni dejavnosti dodajajo osebno noto in so
obraz prireditve, jo poosebljajo. Prav ti so naš adut, na katerega lahko vedno stavimo. Potem ko je končana strma pot
pridobivanja kongresa, so kot os, okoli katere se vrti in steka
vse dogajanje. So odprti, prijazni, fleksibilni, požrtvovalni,
zanesljivi in vedno profesionalni. Zavedajo se, da je pravočasna storitev najpomembnejša in da je enako pomembno
tudi tesno, sprotno in složno sodelovanje z organizatorjem
kongresa.
Predvsem zaradi ljudi se partnerji vračajo k nam.
Zato bomo tudi v prihodnje vlagali v ljudi, v izobraževanje,
izpopolnjevanje, v razvoj in rast menedžmenta, iskanje
vedno novih zamisli in znanja za prefinjene dodelave zelo
kakovostnih storitev. Vrhunsko izvedbo podpiramo tudi z
nenehnim posodabljanjem tehnične opremljenosti in prenavljanjem prostorov.

Ozrimo se v leto 1980, ko je v Cankarjevem domu kot enakovredna sopotnica kulturi zaživela
tudi kongresna dejavnost. Takrat je bilo to pionirsko delo, utiranje poti na novo, obetavno
področje, saj pravih izkušenj doma ni bilo. Tudi pričakovanja in zahteve naročnikov niso bili
tako veliki, a kongresna ekipa Cankarjevega doma je bila od vsega začetka zazrta v prihodnost,
k novim znanjem in priložnostim, k iskanju svežih zamisli, ostrenju posluha in občutka za
naročnike ter v vsakem trenutku odprta in dojemljiva za izzive.
Izkušnje in uspehi so ji vlivali samozavest in danes lahko pogumno rečemo,
da je Kongresno-prireditvena dejavnost
CD preizkušena in izjemno profesionalna organizatorka kongresnih in
najrazličnejših drugih prireditev, ki ji
organizacijo znanstvenih in strokovnih
kongresov, simpozijev in seminarjev,
gospodarsko-podjetniških, izobraževalno-sejemskih in najrazličnejših
družabnih prireditev zaupajo številna

Že vrsto let
na Očesni kliniki v Ljubljani
sodelujemo s Cankarjevim
domom pri organiziranju domačih in mednarodnih strokovnih srečanj, ki večinoma potekajo v organizaciji Združenja
oftalmologov Slovenije.
V letu 2007 sem v sodelovanju s Cankarjevim domom
organizirala 25. srečanje
Evropskega združenja za
očesno, plastično in rekonstruktivno kirurgijo, ki se
ga je udeležilo več kot 450
udeležencev iz 37 držav z
vsega sveta. Organizacija je v
celoti potekala nemoteno in v
prijetnem vzdušju, za kar so
poskrbeli zaposleni v Cankarjevem domu. Vse detajle smo
predebatirali skupaj in vedno
poiskali najboljšo mogočo rešitev. Tudi izvedba tega tridnevnega kongresa je bila popolnoma brezhibna tako glede
prostorov kot tehničnih storitev.
Spremljevalni program, v katerega sta sodila sprejem na
Tivolskem gradu s ponudbo domače kulinarike in gala večerja v Unionski dvorani z nastopom folklorne skupine, je bil
odličen in je požel mnogo pohval. Kot organizatorka sem
prejela veliko ustnih in pisnih pohval o srečanju, ki je bilo
gotovo eno najboljših, kar jih je imel ESOPRS doslej.
Tudi tiskano gradivo, ki so ga prejeli udeleženci, je bilo zelo
kakovostno in prepoznavno.
Čeprav se mi je zdela organizacija tako velikega srečanja na
začetku zelo velik zalogaj, moram ob zaključku poudariti, da
je vse potekalo izredno gladko in v profesionalno prijateljskem razpoloženju.

Pripraviti
in organizirati Slovenski knjižni
sejem je vsakoletni dogodek, ki
pomeni vrhunec založniške in knjigotrške dejavnosti v naši
državi. Okoli 100 razstavljavcev in skoraj 30.000 obiskovalcev zahteva temeljit razmislek in dobro organizacijo sejma,
ki se začne z arhitektovo razporeditvijo, zarisano v tloris.
Kljub začetnim pomislekom o primernosti kulturnega
hrama (s tremi nadstropji), kakršen je Cankarjev dom, se je
Strokovno združenje knjižnih založnikov pri GZS odločilo,
da Slovenski knjižni sejem postane več kot sejem, širši kulturni dogodek v vsakoletnem programu Cankarjevega doma.
Sodelovanje z usposobljeno
programsko in tehnično ekipo
z znanjem in izkušnjami,
hkrati pa tudi z vso tehnično
podporo, prinaša najboljše
rezultate, srečne in zadovoljne
obiskovalce ter pozitivno odmevnost v javnosti. Celo nadstropja je mogoče pametno
izkoristiti, saj jih lahko prostorsko zaokrožiš v zanimive
programske celote. Redni
kulturni program v sejemskih
dneh pa dodatno bogati in
privablja obiskovalce.
Nove prostorske zmožnosti, ki jih je v zadnjih dveh letih pridobil Cankarjev dom: Drugo preddverje in Klub CD, pa nam
s čudovito arhitekturo in dizajnom ter zmožnostmi premičnega postavljanja sten in preoblikovanja prostora vzbujajo
željo po novem sodelovanju v smislu organiziranja literarnih
večerov, izobraževanj, mednarodnih simpozijev, založniškega plesa in morda še česa.

Pri organizaciji
strokovnih
srečanj sodelujemo s Cankarjevim domom že od leta 1998. Maja leta
2000 smo skupaj organizirali Centralni evropski kongres
ortopedov v Portorožu, leta 2003 in 2005 prav tam mednarodna simpozija o poškodbah pri športu, junija 2007 pa enak
simpozij na Bledu.
Sodelovanje je bilo vselej izjemno uspešno, strokovna
srečanja pa izvedena v zadovoljstvo nas, organizatorjev, in
vseh udeležencev. Tudi v prihodnje nameravamo sodelovati
s Kongresno-prireditveno dejavnostjo CD, prepričani, da bo
kakovost storitev ostala na taki ravni, kot smo je vajeni.

Zvestoba
je zvestoba! Založba Kapital že petnajst let organizira finančne dneve
Kapital v Cankarjevem domu, ki se jih je skupaj udeležilo
okoli 60.000 obiskovalcev, sklenjene pa so bile tudi številne
dobre in tudi trajne poslovne zveze.
Ekipa Kapitala se je s Cankarjevim domom v vseh teh letih
zares dobro ujela, prilagodili smo se eden drugemu in zato
se v Cankarjevem domu vsako
leto dva dni počutimo kot
doma, sploh sedaj, ko je prenovljeno Drugo preddverje.
Kot organizatorji finančnih
dni se srečujemo s problemom majhnosti Slovenije, kar
še posebej velja za organizacijo ozko specializiranih
dogodkov. V sosednji Avstriji
je 10-krat več ponudnikov
finančnih storitev, v Nemčiji
100-krat več. In temu primeren je tudi obisk. Vodilni avstrijski finančni sejem vsako leto v treh dneh obišče 12.000
investicij željnih obiskovalcev, v Sloveniji je obiska pol manj,
glede na število prebivalcev in predvsem tradicijo investiranja pa je tudi to vse pohvale vreden dosežek.

Sodelovanje
s Cankarjevim domom se
je začelo pred skoraj 25
leti. Zveza za tehnično kulturo Slovenije je s CD že leta 1984
pripravila prvi skupni projekt Računalnica – mikroračunalniški sejem, ki je pozneje prerasel v izobraževalno-sejemsko
prireditev Infos. Sodelovanje se je nadaljevalo z izvedbo
drugih prireditev, in sicer: Internet v Sloveniji, Datawerhousing, Kapital, Bits & fun, Dnevi slovenskega izobraževanja,
Slovenski festival vin, Teleinfos, državna srečanja mladih
raziskovalcev Slovenije,
Festival za tretje življenjsko
obdobje, Hevreka in nenazadnje evropski kongres Eurag.
Omenim naj še številne tiskovne konference, sprejeme,
bankete in klubske večere.
Več let zapored je ekipa CD
pomagala postaviti in opremiti montažne objekte ter jih
spretno povezati in neopazno
združiti z matično stavbo.
Leta 2007 smo v okviru Zveze
za tehnično kulturo Slovenije
in Zveze društev upokojencev
Slovenije v CD uspešno izvedli Festival za tretje življenjsko
obdobje, ki je edinstvena kombinacija razstave, konferenc,
kulturnih dogodkov, izobraževanja, predstavitev in nastopov
ter protokola. V dveh dneh je festival privabil skoraj 10.000
obiskovalcev ter gostil številne ugledne kulturne, politične in
javne osebnosti. Vsi so bili enotnega mnenja, da je prireditev odlična tudi zaradi tega, ker gostuje v tako eminentni
instituciji z vrhunsko infrastrukturo in odličnimi sodelavci.

Prvo veliko
srečanje Evropske zveze za
zdravljenje odvisnosti smo
v Cankarjevem domu pripravili leta 1997. Odločili smo se,
da mora konferenco, ki jo organizira ustanova Odsev se sliši
(The Sound of Reflection Foundation), slišati oz. začutiti
vsa Ljubljana, če že ne vsa
Slovenija. Tako smo na Gradu
na treh odrih priredili »rave
party«, da se je treslo mesto,
na ploščadi pred CD je bilo
veliko dogajanja, izložbe
trgovin pa so seznanjale ljudi
o nevarnostih uživanja drog
in možnostih pomoči. Zelo
profesionalno osebje CD se
je čudilo takšni organizaciji
konference, a z velikansko
prožnostjo in pripravljenostjo
nadgrajevalo naše, včasih že
kar nore zamisli.
Po nekaj slovenskih konferencah smo leta 2002 organizirali Mednarodno konferenco o zmanjševanju škode zaradi
uživanja drog. Spet smo želeli biti opaženi in s konferenco
Ženske in droge smo vstopili kar v parlament. Velika prožnost naših soorganizatorjev iz CD je navdušila udeležence,
ki še danes ob konkurenci iz največjih svetovnih prestolnic
Ob vsem tem smo se od domačih in tujih udeležencev veliko
naučili, izmenjali izkušnje in navezali prijateljstva. Pa ne le
z njimi, temveč tudi s čudovitim osebjem CD.

Verjetno smo bili ravno zato leta 2007 izbrani za izvedbo
prve Svetovne konference o zdravljenju odvisnosti. Raznolike prostorske možnosti CD ob odlično pripravljenem
kulturnem in družabnem delu, dobri jedači in pijači ter
zanimivih turističnih ogledih so prepričale naše prijatelje
in goste, da so nas nato zaprosili tudi za organizacijo velike
evropske konference s področja vseh kemičnih in nekemičnih odvisnosti in ne le drog.

S Cankarjevi
m domom sem začel
sodelovati še pred nastankom države Slovenije. Takrat je bila to glavna lokacijska
atrakcija v Ljubljani pa tudi skoraj edina kongresna agencija.
Prav osamosvojitev Slovenije, priprave nanjo in organizacija tiskovnega središča (za katero sem bil odgovoren) so še
izostrile zmožnosti in sposobnosti CD za velike mednarodne
dogodke te vrste, čeprav so mednarodne kongrese delali že
prej.
Od leta 1991 sem s CD in v
njem še velikokrat sodeloval
kot naročnik bodisi pri organizaciji tiskovnih središč za
velike mednarodne dogodke,
ki so potekali v prostorih CD,
bodisi s kongresno agencijo
na drugih lokacijah ter pri organizaciji državnih proslav in
državnih sprejemov. Celo pri
promociji Slovenije, Ljubljane
in CD kot nove zanimive kongresne lokacije smo sodelovali
– doma in v tujini.
Postopno preurejanje CD, ki poleg prilagajanja notranje
ureditve in opreme potrebam kulturnega programa vedno
bolj sledi tudi smernicam opremljenosti modernega kongresnega središča, jasnejše profiliranje in trženje storitev
kongresne dejavnosti bodo gotovo vplivali na še uspešnejše
pridobivanje in izvajanje mednarodnih konferenc, kongresov in drugih podobnih dogodkov.
Ljudje, ki jih poznaš, s katerimi si že nekaj doživel, so tudi
jamstvo za izvrstno izpeljavo mednarodnih dogodkov, ki jih
bo po koncu slovenskega predsedovanja EU na dolgi rok gotovo še več in bodo tuji udeleženci v CD ali s CD prav gotovo
neposredno »začutili Slovenijo«.

Kot profesionalni kongresni organizator je Kongresno-prireditvena dejavnost CD včlanjena v najuglednejša svetovna
združenja svojega področja.
V družbi največjih
Kongresno-prireditvena dejavnost CD je članica najpomembnejše mednarodne kongresne zveze ICCA že več kot
dvajset let, kar je zavidljiva doba za stroko, ki je tudi v svetu
še razmeroma mlada. Nepridobitna organizacija ICCA, ustanovljena v šestdesetih letih, se ukvarja s trženjem in bazo
podatkov mednarodnih prireditev. Njeni člani so vodilni ponudniki raznovrstnih storitev, tako organizacije kongresnih
prireditev kot raznolikih podpornih in spremljajočih storitev.
Med profesionalnimi kongresnimi organizatorji
Kongresno-prireditvena dejavnost CD je članica Mednarodne zveze profesionalnih kongresnih organizatorjev IAPCO.
Zveza je bila ustanovljena leta 1968, njeno poslanstvo pa je
usmerjeno v izobraževanje, razvoj kongresnih standardov in
medsebojno sodelovanje, ki pripomorejo k še večji strokovnosti in odličnosti kongresnih organizatorjev. Zveza združuje manjše in večje organizacije, katerih glavna dejavnost je
osredotočena na pripravo kongresnih prireditev.

Zgodba in zgradba Cankarjevega doma sta
razgibani in zanimivi. Začetek živahnega
dogajanja sega v leto 1980, ko so bile v najprej
dokončani, Linhartovi dvorani prve umetniške
in kongresne prireditve.
Cankarjev dom – hiša za
1001 namen
Cankarjev dom je bil od vsega začetka načrtovan kot kulturni
in kongresni center, v katerem je mogoče uresničiti vse vrste
umetniških uprizoritev ter vse želje in potrebe naročnikov
oziroma soorganizatorjev kongresnih prireditev.
To razgibano dejavnost Cankarjev dom odseva že navzven:
silhueta stavbe se spreminja glede na zorni kot opazovalca.
Notranjost je premišljeno in domišljeno zasnovana tako po
funkcionalnih kot estetskih merilih; z udobjem in prijetno
gostoljubnostjo lahko na raznovrstnih prireditvah v dvoranah sprejema od 20 do 1500 udeležencev, naenkrat pa 5000
obiskovalcev.
S površino 36.000 kvadratnih metrov je Cankarjev dom
največji kulturni in kongresni center v državi. Ponaša se
z izjemno akustiko, velikim in tehnično vsezmogljivim
odrom največje, Gallusove dvorane, v kateri so tudi vrhunske
Schukejeve orgle. Velika sprejemna dvorana in Klub CD, ki
je bil temeljito prenovljen v začetku leta 2008, pa veljata za
najlepši prizorišči v Sloveniji.
Zgradba Cankarjevega doma je biser, ki s časom ne izgublja
niti iskrice svojega sijaja. Zasnoval jo je prof. Edo Ravnikar,
učenec slovitega mojstra arhitekture Jožeta Plečnika, za
prenovitvene posege v skladu s tradicijo prvotnih zamisli pa
skrbi arhitekt Andrej Kasal, član Ravnikarjeve skupine pri
gradnji Cankarjevega doma.
Vpetost v širši prostor Cankarjevemu domu daje dodatne
prednosti. Čeprav je v Sloveniji vse blizu, je sedež v Ljubljani, prestolnici države, kakor srčika.
V Ljubljano vodijo vse poti. Je stičišče hitrih cest in železnice, osrednje slovensko Letališče Jožeta Pučnika je oddaljeno
le dobrih 20 kilometrov. Lahko pridrvite, lahko priletite, in
ko ste enkrat v Ljubljani, ste v Cankarjevem domu, saj se
nahaja v njenem neposrednem središču med predsedstvom
in parlamentom. Vse je na dosegu roke.
V Cankarjev dom se lahko dobesedno pripeljete z avtomobilom. Garažna hiša je streljaj proč in od tam so dvorane
dostopne skozi podhod; tudi če dežuje ali sneži, ne potrebujete dežnika.
Poskrbljeno je tudi za invalidom prilagojen vhod in dostop
do dvoran.
Od hotelov v mestu imate bodisi lep sprehod ali pa dobre
povezave z mestnim avtobusom.
Potem si lahko, če sta čas in volja, ogledate znamenitosti,
si dovolite, da vas očara staro mestno jedro, se naužijete
zelenja v Tivoliju, največjem mestnem parku, skočite po
nakupih in opravkih – vse je zelo blizu.
Cankarjev dom je v središču vsega in sam vam ponuja vse,
kar potrebujete.
Tudi kavico, prigrizek ali ogled razstave med odmori. Ali pa
prepovedani užitek ob cigareti, saj je zagotovljen tudi prostor
za kadilce.
Cankarjev dom je gostoljubno okolje vseh doživetij – poslovnih, kulturnih, zabavnih, kratkočasnih in prostočasnih.
Omogoča dobre pogoje za delo in spremljanje prireditev,
obenem pa tudi vse udobje za sproščeno počutje.

equipped with technology that can serve various purposes; symphonic and chamber music,
opera and ballet, drama, dance, jazz, entertainment, recitals, multi-media events and conventions. The hall is supplied with broadcast

Največja dvorana CD omogoča izvedbo najzahtevnejših prireditev: kongresov, koncertov simfonične, komorne, orgelske, jazz in
druge glasbe, opere in baleta, drame, plesa,
zabavnega programa, večmedijskih predstav. Tehnično vrhunsko opremljena, z možnostjo televizijskih in radijskih prenosov.

The Club is an ideal venue for concerts, chanson evenings, cabarets, congress or corporate
events, parties, social gatherings, receptions as
well as business lunches. Sporting a spacious
terrace and an open view of the Ljubljana Castle Hill and Tivoli Park, the Club has recently
been completely renovated and innovatively
refurbished, which has enhanced both atmosphere and comfort. Cloakroom and a direct
access from the CD Small Gallery.

Cankarjev dom sports a diversified as well as
compelling history and architecture.
The beginnings of its vigorous existence go back as far as
1980, when the first artistic and congress events were organised in Linhart Hall, the first hall to be completed. Since
the very beginning, Cankarjev dom has been destined to
play the role of a cultural and congress centre, facilitating all
kinds of artistic performances as well as fulfilling all wishes
and satisfying every need of our clients or congress event
co-organisers.
The variegated aspect of Cankarjev dom’s activity is reflected
also in its exterior: the building’s architecture changes with
regard to the beholder’s viewpoint. The interior boasts an
imaginative and well-conceived design meeting the criteria
of expedience as well as aesthetics. Providing comfort and
hospitality, CD’s halls will admit from 20 to 1500 delegates,
and as many as 5000 visitors simultaneously.
The area of 36,000 square metres has conferred on Cankarjev dom the envious title of the largest cultural and congress
centre of Slovenia. It boasts extraordinary acoustical properties of its halls, capacious and technically omnipotent stage
of its largest hall, the Gallus Hall that also features a stateof-the-art Schuke pipe organ. The Grand Reception Hall and
CD Club, which was thoroughly renovated at the beginning
of 2008, are considered to be two of the most beautiful
venues of Slovenia.
Cankarjev dom is an architectural gem whose splendour has
not been diminished with time. It was designed by Prof. Edo
Ravnikar, student of the notable master of architecture Jože
Plečnik, while the renovation – executed in accordance with
original plans – has been supervised by architect Andrej
Kasal, member of the Ravnikar’s team.
Its central position affords Cankarjev dom lots of advantages. Notwithstanding the fact that nothing is remote in
Slovenia, having a base in Ljubljana, the country’s capital,
puts Cankarjev dom at the centre of attention.
All paths lead to Ljubljana. It stands at the crossroads of
highways and the railroad, while the central Slovene airport
Jože Pučnik lies only 20 kilometres Northway. Whether you
come by car or plane, once you are in Ljubljana, you are in
Cankarjev dom. Namely, it is situated in the very centre of
Ljubljana, located between the Presidential Palace and the
National Assembly. Here, everything is within reach.
It is literally possible to drive into Cankarjev dom. The
multi-storey car park is only a stone’s throw away and allows
direct underground access to Cankarjev dom; even if it’s
raining or snowing, you will not get your feet wet. The building’s entrances and accesses to halls have been adjusted to
accommodate disabled persons.
The city hotels are either within walking distance or a short
bus ride away. If you feel like it, you can see the sights, allow yourself to be enchanted by the Old City, wallow in the
greenery of the Tivoli Park, go on a shopping spree or run
some errands – everything is within reach.
In the heart of Ljubljana, Cankarjev dom is the focal point
around which events revolve and can provide everything to
your heart’s desire. During breaks, one can have a cup of
coffee, a snack or see an exhibition. Since a smoking area is
provided for, one can also enjoy the forbidden fruit – having

The CD Congress and Events Management has been a
member of the leading international congress association,
ICCA, for over 20 years. This is an enviable age for a branch
of activity that is relatively new in the world. A non-profit
organisation established in the 1960s, this Association is involved in marketing and maintaining a database of international events. Its members are leading providers of diverse

Among Professional Congress Organisers
The CD Congress and Events Management is also the only
Slovene member of IAPCO, the International Association
of Professional Congress Organisers. The Association was

One of the largest
and
most important in its field, as regards size and scope, the Congress
of the European Association for Vision and Eye Research
2007 – the 10th such meeting – took place in Portorož,
Slovenia, and was organized
by the Congress and Events
Management Department of
Cankarjev dom. As the venue
changes every three years, the
Congress will again take place
in Slovenia in October 2008
and 2009.
The outcome of the Congress
was an enigma even a few
months before its envisaged
date. Would there be enough
participants? Will Slovenia be
attractive enough venue for
those who come for tourism? All these fears were unfounded. Of the more than 700 delegates, 243 were established
invited lecturers from all over the world, and we listened to
606 contributions. The Congress program was the most
extensive yet, and according to the evaluation of the programme secretariat, the best ever!
Besides the rich content of the scientific programme, we together with the Congress and Events Management of Cankarjev dom and St. Bernardin Hotels - also wanted to create
a pleasant experience for all the participants. The coastal
location itself was charming, and the opening concert - with
Zoran Predin, violinist Anja Bukovec and the blind pianist Zoran Škrinjar - in the hall right above the sea, certainly
contributed to the pleasant ambiance.
The feedback concerning the concert was exceptional, and
the Congress imbued a wealth of reminiscences in all who
attended; indeed, many brought up in subsequent conversations as well as in letters and reports.
Following the excellent demonstration of organizational
skills by Cankarjev dom and St. Bernardin, we are anticipating another record number of delegates at the 11th Congress
which will also contribute to a better recognisability of
Slovenia.

qualified personnel, all the
necessary technical equipment, a lot of suitable venues, location in the very centre
situated of Ljubljana, made my decision to co-operate with
Cankarjev dom Cultural Centre easy.
Among numerous congresses which I have organized together with Cankarjev
dom, I would like to expose
the World Congress of Child
Neurologists in 1998 which
was attended by more than
1000 participants from 92
countries from all continents.
The congress was so successful that many participants
said that those congresses
should always be organized in
Ljubljana.
Together with Cankarjev dom Cultural and Congress Centre,
I have prepared international meetings also in Portorož and
Bled which are, besides the baroque city of Ljubljana, also
attractive from the tourism point of view. That is namely,
besides the content of the scientific programme, one of
the most important factors when scientists are deciding on
participation at congresses.
As an active member of various worldwide and local associations, I have realised how important are well-organized
congresses not only for acquiring new knowledge and expertise but also for promotion of a country. In Slovenia, we

which, besides promotion of a country, also brings positive

by the Congress and Events Management. Much praise and
indeed awards were made for the faultless organization of
the Symposium, which could not have achieved without the
diligent efforts of the staff of Cankarjev dom.

The Protocol Service has organized an array of state ceremonies, events, international meetings, exhibitions and
conferences in the context of the supportive hospitality of
the Gallus, Linhart and the Great Reception Hall, as well as
other Cankarjev dom venues. Indeed, it would be difficult
for anyone to surpass the success of the Welcome to the
Euro event in January 2007, one of the biggest events that
independent Slovenia has ever hosted.
Accomplishing all of this would have proved nigh on impossible without the Cankarjev dom’s most excellent infrastructure, flexibility and diligent personnel.

engaged in the organization of events - since
the beginning of my professional career.
As the Chief of Protocol of
the Republic of Slovenia,
I regularly co-operate with
the Cankarjev dom Cultural
and Congress Centre. My

activities pertaining to the organization of the 6th Congress of the Federation of European
Simulation Societies, which took place in September 2007
at the University of Ljubljana’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering, were the responsibility of the Federation itself and
much of this burden was entrusted to Cankarjev dom. The
support provided by the Cankarjev dom was most satisfactory, while the registration of participants and provision of
accommodation services were carried out faultlessly, and we
received no complaints. Many participants needed a visa or
a letter of guarantee, and these requirements were also accomplished faultlessly thanks to Cankarjev dom. They also
helped in the organization of social events and the publication of conference bulletins and a CD.
After Capri, Vienna, Delft and Paris the organization was
entrusted to Ljubljana, and we succeeded in staging an event
which was the largest yet. The Congress hosted 458 participants from 39 countries, and following strict recension,
420 contributions from 42 countries were placed on the
programme.
