December 2014 Satilla REMC Newsletter Satilla REMC Celebrates 77th Annual Meeting O n Tuesday, October 7, an overflowing crowd of Satilla Members, their families and guests took part in Satilla REMC’s 77th Annual Meeting. The meeting was held at Central Square Complex in Douglas, Ga., with about 1,135 in attendance. Romeo Reyes, President/CEO, highlighted changes at Satilla during the past year and reported that the Co-op had experienced another successful and productive year. Reyes noted, “We have kept the power flowing, kept the cost of electricity as low as possible and supported the communities we serve.” Reyes spoke of future challenges in pending legislation and rate structures that could hamper Satilla’s efforts to provide electricity at affordable prices to its Members, but he concluded, “We will meet those challenges head-on and do everything in our power to supply quality, reliable electric service at an affordable price now and in the future.” Grand Prize Winner—$1,200 cash John David Kersey, left, with Romeo Reyes, Satilla REMC President/CEO Smart Change Winners–$300 cash each Alma District—Linda S. GA00670G 16th Annual Chris ‘I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas’ C ontinuing the tradition of the annual Christmas Card Contest, Satilla REMC asked students in grades K-5 throughout Satilla’s service area to share with us their imaginative artwork on the theme “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas.” Satilla received approximately 2,100 entries from elementary and primary schools within its service area. We would like to congratulate Jenna Miles as this year’s overall winner. She is the daughter of Herk and Tonya Miles and a student at Jeff Davis Elementary School. Jenna will receive a $25 gift certificate and class party for her effort and creativity. Her teacher is Angie Wilcox. Satilla REMC Directors and employees extend their appreciation to area teachers who aided in the coordination of this event. Although each student who participated is truly a winner, a grade-level winner was chosen from among the submissions and will receive a Walmart gift certificate. The cards on these pages are the artwork of the overall winner and the grade-level winners.
