The Perfect Fit event is happening again!
The Perfect Fit Health Awareness Campaign will be held on the 21st & 22nd

The campaign aims to create health awareness and health Partnerships in
Claremont and other communities and connect business & people through public
space participation.
A day of fun, fitness and a chance to 'know your numbers' will be held with FREE

message of the campaign is to create awareness of the importance of regular
screening tests and encourage a healthier lifestyle. With pulsating music
on the cards, we’ll have various activities from 'mini boot camp' challenges,
dance groups, hip hop dancers to entertain the crowd. We’ll have spinning
challenges while exhibitors will showcase what they have to offer the
community around all things Health, Wellness & Beauty.
All who contribute and all the individuals screened will receive a goodie bag
on the day. So diarise the date and come have some fun while ‘Knowing your

LEADING YOUR BUSINESS BEYOND PROFIT....
The average entrepreneur starts a business because he has
identified a gap or need that he believes he can fill. However, we all
know that what he really saw was a "way that he can profit" or make
money and ultimately that and not filling the need becomes the the
purpose of the business. It is therefore very challenging for most
businesses to voluntarily give of their profits to a different cause. We
need to remember that the business was never intended to give but
to make money. It is for that reason that companies often just give
to other "worthy" causes because it's a requirement. Either by law or
because it's good business sense to give and we refer to it as our "CSI"
Corporate social Investment. Is it not so that we might as well just
refer to it as a DONATION? Something we give and walk away,
knowing and feeling good because we made a CONTRIBUTION.
Imagine a world where instead our businesses making a contribution
it becomes THE CONTRIBUTION. A business with its purpose to
really first fulfill a need or gap and then gain the profits. Knowing
that, when your business does not exist or perform, the bigger
society will lack in an area because your business is not fulfilling it's
purpose. If you should be asked the question: "what is the purpose
of your business?" What will your answer be? Does your business
make a difference or is it the difference. I suggest that we visit these
questions and give it some serious attention before we consider our
next contribution or donation as our CSI. Let us become the value
instead of just giving hoping that our gift alone may add value as ....
We lead from where we are!

Sitting too long may increase your cancer risk:
If you’re spending a lot of time sitting every day, either in front
of the TV or at work, you may be at higher risk for developing
certain types of cancer. The study found an additional two hours
a day of sedentary behaviour was linked to an 8% increase in
colon cancer risk, a 10% increase in endometrial cancer risk and
a 6% increase in risk for lung cancer. It did not find the same
connection for breast, rectum, ovary and prostate cancers or for
non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Researchers came to these conclusions
by analyzing 43 existing studies – that included more than 4
million study participants and 68,936 cancer cases – to measure
the relationship between hours spent sitting and certain types
of cancers. Having an exercise routine three times a week for at
least 30 minutes and following a healthy eating plan reduces
these risks.

"Using acupuncture to stop smoking.
Stopping smoking is never
easy. Nicotine is a strong
drug of addiction and many
people struggle to stop...
One alternative worth trying
is to use acupuncture. In this
method one sterile needle
is inserted into the skin
on the outside of the ear
and a mild electric current
applied through the needle
for about 20 minutes. There
is slight discomfort but
nothing of any significance.
By using the correct point
a signal is sent to the brain
which releases an endorphin
related chemical messenger.
This messenger then binds
onto the receptor cells
which respond to nicotine
and blocks them. Thus the
cells that send out craving
messages when deprived
of nicotine are kept quiet
and this enables the person
to stop smoking . Stopping
has to be complete . Simply
cutting down screws up the
system.
Many people find this
method successful and
manage to stop . Its still not
easy but much better than
stopping without any help.
Give it a go !
07 |reCONNECT Magazine | OCT/ NOV 2014 Pamper Princess
"Pamper Princess has been a dream come true for
me. My passion of five years has now become reality
and working from my private home studio gives me
more freedom and flexibility when seeing clients.
Taking care and maintaining our hands and feet is so
vital.
We work with our hands and feet everyday and as
much as we use them we really don't have enough
time to take proper care of them, so here I'm with
my flexible hours and private home studio and house
calls to ensure you have beautiful pampered hands
and feet all year round."

Safety Tips
With the increase number of hijackings, we all need to be more vigilant,
keeping doors closed and locked.
Be aware of strange vehicles and its occupants in and around the area we live
and around our streets.
Report all suspicious vehicles to your local police station and neighbourhood
watch.
Know what cars your neighbours drive.
Always check your rear view mirrors to see if anyone is following you.
If you feel you being followed, drive to the nearest police station. If you are
in danger, attract the attention of others by hooting, flashing your lights or
shouting.
Neighbours should talk to one another and join their local neighbourhood
watch – get onto the WhatsApp groups and share contact details with the
neighbours around you.
