Abu Dhabi Corporate Games
Abu Dhabi continues to be a location for
some of the world’s biggest sporting events
and 2011 is set to finish with a bang after
the announcement that UAE capital is to
host the Corporate Games later this year.
The event, which is supported by the Abu
Dhabi Sports Council, expects to gather
over 4,000 athletes -male and female, and of
all ages and professional levels -from more
than 15O businesses and organisations of
every size and kind from across the UAE.
Companies will compete in a variety
of sports including cricket, soccer,
dragon boating, golf, karting, tennis and
bowling. The activities will take place
at various venues across Abu Dhabi
including Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi
Comiche, Al Forsan International Sports
Resort, the Abu Dhabi Beaches Sports
Park by DUPLAYS, and the
Dome@ Rawdhat.

Salsa Nights
in the
Clubhouse
Every Wednesday from 7 p.m
Wednesday Salsa Nights are proving to be a
big hit at the Clubhouse and participation is
growing on a weekly basis. With a qualified
dance instructor, free lessons are available for
levels of ability.
Salsa is a lively, vigorous type of contemporary
Latin American popular music, blending
predominantly Cuban rhythms with elements of
jazz, rock and soul music.
Wherever you’re from, whatever you do,
whatever your forte, it’s time to change your
shoes - and sway into the world of salsa.

Ramadan Football

Tuesday Mixed Bowling League
Khalifa Bowling Centre, in conjunction with the Abu Dhabi Filipino Bowling Club, are starting up a new
league on Tuesday nights. Aimed at bowlers from all over Abu Dhabi, this social league is designed to
give bowlers the opportunity to bowl with people of different abilities as well as creating a social event
on a regular basis.
To register, come to Khalifa Bowling Centre on Tuesday nights between 8-10 p.m and a
representative from the ADFBC will be able to assist you in joining this league.

initiative to engage the people in sport
activities, this time during the holy month
of Ramadan. After the success at ZSC
Cup 2011, the Ramadan Cup will carry

In preparation for the soccer and rugby season
2011/2012 the grounds and landscaping
department are currently working hard renovating
all the training pitches to ensure that they are in
pristine condition.

and great experience at the ZSC main
stadium. Games will be played from Sunday

Women’s and Youth events, the Ramadan
Bowling Tournament is one event that you

regular updates.
Bowler of the Month
The Bowler of the Month of May is Mr Jake
who bowls regularly with the Abu Dhabi Filipino
Bowling League.
You can also take part in the Bowler of the
Month competition. With the chance to win cash
prizes of up to AED 1500 as well as the coveted
Bowler of the Month Trophy and Bowling T-Shirt,
come and register at Khalifa Bowling Centre.
ADNOC Tournament
ADNOC Group held a tournament for the oil
companies of Abu Dhabi. Running on 4 nights
over 2 weeks several events were played.
Teams were entered by ADNOC, ADMA OPCO,
NDC, ZADCO, GASCO, Borouge, ESNAAD,
ADNOC FOD, TAKREER and ADCO. The overall
champions of the event were ADNOC, winning
both the single and team event. ADMA OPCO
was the winner of the doubles event.

Starting in September 2011, ZSC will be launching two new tennis membership
packages. The junior membership will be aimed at boys and girls 16 and under and
the student membership package will be aimed at students studying in the UAE.

Tennis Calendar
2011/2012
The Abu Dhabi International Tennis Complex
is currently scheduling the tennis calendar for
2011/2012 at Zayed Sports City. Throughout
the year the calendar will offer monthly social
tennis evenings, a competitive selection of
tennis ladders, singles, doubles and mixed
doubles activities and the first Zayed Sports
City Club Championship. With the impending
completion of two new tennis courts this is
sure to be an action packed year.

Summer Lessons
Kids Fun Day
On the 3 June, PSS organized
a fun day at the tennis complex.
Sixty five kids joined this fun
tournament. The day closed with a
bowling competition. A great time
was had by all.
Tennis doesn’t have to stop just because the
summer is here! If you want classes during
summer after sun goes down, PSS has staff
available for private lessons.

Over the last four months, employees
across ATIC have participated in an
all-round company wellness programme
with the support of Haddins. Beginning
in early February with a detailed health
and fitness assessment, more than 50
employees have been involved in the
programme, which includes a range of fun
health, nutrition and fitness activities. In
line with the mantra ‘healthy body, healthy
mind’, the programme aims to promote the
benefits of a healthy lifestyle on workplace
performance.

Summer Public Skating
Summer is the time when everybody in
Abu Dhabi is trying to escape the heat
and humidity. The ice rink at ZSC is just
the place to do it! With extended opening
times and extra public skating sessions,
there’s something to suit everybody’s
summer schedule.

daily schedule.

Zayed Sports City-based Abu Dhabi
Figure Skating Team has more than
60 members of all ages who train,
practice and perform at the ice rink.
For aspiring skaters, ice rink coaches
run a Learn to Skate program during
the school year (September - June).
The courses are structured in
accordance with the guidelines of
the Ice Skating Institute of Asia and
cover eight distinct levels of skating
ability. Registration for September’s
Learn to Skate program will start at
the end of Ramadan.

Development Camp
Overall Employee of the Month for May 2011
From 12th – 18th June, Abu Dhabi Ice Rink
was proud to host the 2011 International Ice
Hockey Federation’s Asian Development Camp.

The camp involved 126 players from ten
Asian member national associations ;
Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Korea,
Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, Singapore,
Thailand, United Arab Emirates ; and the
program included practice sessions and
games, fitness training sessions, and
leadership seminars.
In his opening speech, IIHF Representative
Dave Fitzpatrick congratulated Zayed Sports
City on its excellent facility and thanked
the rink’s management for their operational
support and hospitality.

Employees of the Month for May 2011
On 24 and 25 June, 2011, ZSC
hosted a junior figure skating
championship for the first time in its
history. With 70 skaters representing
teams from four UAE ice rinks (Al Ain
Mall, Al Nasr Leisureland, Sharjah
Ladies Club and Abu Dhabi Figure
Skating Team), the two day event
was a great success.
In the team competition Abu Dhabi
Figure Skating Team took first place
with 227 points. Second place went
to Al Nasr Leisureland, third place
to Sharjah Ladies Club and Al Ain
Mall came in fourth place. All skaters
performed brilliantly and should be
proud of their hard work and effort.
