Shabby Chic Gift Box
LOTV15 20/04/2015 Lili of the Valley Weekly Inspiration This week we have some up-cycling for you to try! You can turn any box into a beautiful gift box using our papers and stamps. Shabby Chic Gift Box For this project we used a box from a tablet but you can use any box that you have lying around. Keep an eye out for ones that might be useful when you buy small electrical items and save them. Measure the top, bottom and sides and cut pieces of paper to fit. If you want to leave a border make them a bit smaller. Ink around the edges with a colour that compliments the papers. You can make the paper as grungy as you like. We stamped randomly with one of our useful Grunge Corner stamps and then sprinkled around the edges with some Frantage powder. Heat it from underneath until it melts so it doesn’t blow all over. Glue your finished pieces to the box. * You can leave out this stage and just use the papers as they are if you don’t want a distressed effect. Cut some contrasting papers to fit the inside sections and use to line the box. This picture shows the papers without the distressing so that you can see both. Cut some flowers from scraps of paper. Ink the edges and add some Frantage as before. If you snip between 2 adjacent petals and then stick one on top of the other it will give nice dimension to your flowers. Layer them and put a gem or a stamen in the centre of each one. Stick your flowers to the top of the box with some ribbon, lace and a doily. Stamp your sentiments and cut into banner shapes. Ink the edges and stamp over with the Grunge Corner stamp. Mat onto a slightly larger piece of coloured paper. Finish your box with the sentiment banners and some die cut butterflies. You can adapt this for any occasion, put some matching tissue paper inside to make it extra special!
