New Full-Service Branch

InvesTex Credit Union is proud
to announce the FM 1960
Branch & Corporate Office has
officially opened. On May 16th,
we opened the doors to our 6th
branch location as well as our
new Corporate Office. We have
anticipated this exciting day since
we broke ground in August 2015.
The new office is conveniently
located at 8404 FM 1960 Bypass
West Road, Humble 77338. The
new location features a full-service
branch, four drive thru lanes, a
drive-up ATM as well as a walk-up
ATM. Plus, a friendly and helpful
staff! We are ready to serve new and current members!

REMODEL OF ALDINE BRANCH
InvesTex is pleased to announce that our Aldine Branch Lobby is slated for an
extensive remodeling project. The remodeling project will include new private
teller stations and a more open lobby. The new design will create a better
member experience and align the Aldine location with other existing branches.
This project will begin the first of July 2016 and will take a few months to
complete.
We apologize for any inconvenience the Aldine Branch remodeling project
may cause. We are confident that the changes will enhance your credit union
experience. We look forward to serving you - with more comfort and privacy when the remodel is completed.

My supervisor tried to talk me into joining a credit
union for years, but I kept putting him off. One
day I had a $1,500 check that I wanted to deposit where
I wouldn’t touch it, so I came here to open a savings
account. While the MSR was opening my account, they
told me they could save me money by refinancing my car. It took less than 30 minutes, my interest rate went
from 18.5% (American Credit Acceptance) to 2.9%
and I saved $100 per month on my payment.

Tax Free Weekend
Back to school shopping is here. Be sure to take advantage of the tax
free weekend in August. Texas shoppers get a break from state and local
sales taxes on August 5th-7th this year - the state’s annual tax holiday.
As in previous years, the law exempts most clothing, footwear, school
supplies and backpacks priced under $100 from sales and use taxes,
which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend. Layaway plans can be used again this year to take advantage of the sales tax holiday. You can find

IDENTIT Y THEFT
Identity theft occurs when someone uses your personal information, like your name, Social
Security number or credit card number, without your permission, to commit fraud.
Tactics criminals use to steal your information:
• Stealing mail, including credit cards, credit card pre-approval offers and checks; stealing
wallets and purses
• Watching you make an ATM transaction and getting your Personal Identification Number
(PIN)
• Rummaging through trash looking for bills or other paper with your personal information
• Phishing by pretending to be your financial institution or a company and asking for your
personal information by email or pop-up messages
Crimes criminals may commit with your stolen information:
• Credit card fraud using new credit cards they’ve opened in your name—they don’t pay the
bills and the delinquent accounts appear on your credit report
• Phone or utilities fraud by opening a new phone, electricity, heating or cable TV account in
your name with a different address
• Bank/finance fraud by creating counterfeit checks with your name or account number;
opening a bank account in your name and writing bad checks; and taking out a loan in your
name
• Government documents fraud by using your name to obtain a driver’s license or ID card with
their picture, a Social Security number to get government benefits or a job and not have to
pay taxes
How to report identity theft if you’re a victim:
• Contact your financial institutions immediately, including all credit card issuers
• Review your statements and report all cases of fraud
• Contact the credit bureaus and request a copy of your credit report and notify them of the
situation
• File a police report and obtain a copy for yourself
• File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gove/idtheft or call 877-ID-THEFT
(877-438-4338). Reporting your complaint can help law enforcement officials across the
country with their investigations
